James Badass Voice
Kirk using less wah
Lars in tempo
Jason Newsted
One of the Greatest Metallica Shows. Period.
+Nicolás Riveros I think Lars's problem is that they play way faster nowadays than what they this in this era
+Dalle Smalhals lol.... is the worst thing you could do judging any band ny speed
+kidnapping pranks GONE SEXUAL damaged justice tour and black album tour excelled, seattle 1989 DID NOT stand out at all
+kidnapping pranks GONE SEXUAL nothing will ever beat Binge & Purge

Damn, that Hetfield voice!!! They were fucking monsters back then!!!!
And they still are.
@TheLeftJoystick you got that right!! 💯
@@TheLeftJoystickwrong
People are still leaving this concert I heard
Some people just got there
Worth it
Damn dude it took me 27 years to get to the front, just to get my ass beat by the guards that were still standing there waiting for me
@@Iheartdgd yea i just got hit by a plane, you see its an airfield
James's voice was damned near flawless here.
Best I've heard it
To me it was perfect in San Diego 1992 recording. Seattle 89 also kicked ass, but the audio guy made the crowd too loud for me and it's not as good as it probably could've been... This is also damn near perfect, but not as good as San Diego.
Helsinki 88- most brutal voice. Not the best audio, but just listen to the screams at Blackened...
@@LPPL123 If your still around you can find some direct soundboard audio on metfan4l’s channel
I was just 2 years old in 1991,
Thank you Internet, thank you youtube.... :)
i was in my dad's ball sack lol
+José Lemus hi5 on that ! :p
I wasn't even alive
I was 11 and living in Moscow. Still too young to go to such a concert. I knew about all these bands though (Metallica, AC/DC...). They were all very popular in the USSR at that time.
Poor boys, I was 8 by then an already listening to metal, thanks to my cousin lol!
Metallica when they were absolutely in their prime. Shitty sound quality, but still takes nothing away from this adrenaline charged classic Metallica performance. Thanks for posting this.
This is good but I still cannot find a concert that beats the intensity of the 1989 Seattle concert. I know it helped because it was shot professionally for a DVD but still. Do you know of one better? I have seen some that come close like one where they played master at like 1.5 times normal speed and you couldnt even see James hand through most of the song it was epic!
Justin Delp There were no DVDs in 1989, champ. There were barely CDs. Shit I'm old.
Haha you are right did they shoot it for VHS then hahaha. They definately had better video and sound quality at that concert than most you see and how it looked produced also. Had to have been professionally shot.
Crowd noise is sad...
Calvin Newton
Yes for being the biggest crowd Metallica ever had they werent worth a shit. still a decent concert. None better than Seattle though..
Harvester of Sorrow is a beast in this concert. Best live performance I have seen of this song.
That scream in the middle of the song! Fuck Yeah.
Always been my favorite.
Just a killer song brother , always rips if you ask me
Hell yeah
I love Jason Newsted! He did always go all in every concert and went crazy all the time! He is really ha TRUE metalhead!
He is just too fukin‘ metal, man. 😉
Those fans knew how to enjoy this concert. It must have been pretty awesome to play in front of such a crowd.
+Ned Bately Some of them died because the police had no idea whether it was a protest or just a bunch of people having a good time.
+ThePlatinumEagle Hey, when you get a bunch of metalheads, especially of the Russian variety, pumped up and turned into metal-fueled beasts, shit happens.
+Ned Bately it was not only Metallica that was there, AC/DC was there as well, when it comes to Monsters of Rock, AC/DC and Metallica are two superpower giants
+Dustin Krueger And Pantera
Man that has to be one hell of a rush.. just look at the SEA OF PEOPLE and metallica FUCKING rocked this concert
Jason was awesome in Seek and Destroy!
52:02 "Take a look to the sky, just before you die--IT'S AN ASS-GRABBING WHALE!"

One of Metallica's best shows ever!!
This is by far THE BEST Metallica's show ever.
nejc crnko Seattle -89.
Tim Edberg Yes it was also a really good show sounds a ot better too but this was the biggest show they ever done i couldn't choose witch one is better
Metallica at St. Goarshausen 1985 Metal Hammer Festival.
1986 shows
10:02 Hettfield: "You know what?"... Realises nobody understands him... "God Damn it!" ...
this is beautiful
James Hetfield's badass fucking voice ... wish he could still sing like this.
+disinfect777 Too bad he fucked up his voice after touring too much for Black Album.
+Noah Harned well this concer was for Black album Tour cause it was 1991 back then, the same year when that album was published...and they played a few songs in this concert like Enter sandman and Sad but true...
Omar Fernandez .. and??? My point was that he pushed his voice too much during that tour and by the end of it his vocal cord were in serious trouble. that's why James sings now.
okidoky xD
He can still sing like that, he's just hella cautious because he doesn't want to damage his voice like he did on the Black Album tour. Listen to 2016 AT&T Park show, he uses grit in his voice. 2008 performance of Bleeding Me (at about 6:11, he screams just like Seattle 89)
Probably their best show
seattle 89' was their best show
No. This was their best show. James voice is a heaven Send
YoDawgoneeleven I would sell my whole family to see Metallica play small venues in 1984 with Venom...
juan diego torres fajardo no.
James's voice started sucking during this time. 89 is their best show. Watch the thing that should not be for the 89 show, those are vocals this James could never play
This concert was huge for the world. West meets East for the first time in a long time. And it was with hard rock, heavy ass music. I find that awesome. The world wanted to rock and rock hard. Too bad we have descended back to the same old crap. But we still have those days in our memories and how great it can be.
If I got a dollar for every pixel of this video, I'd have 58 cents
What do you expect for 1991? 4K?
Your logic is flawed. Nope but a decent 420p video at least, isn't too much to ask for. I said that as a joke, anyways. So calm yo ass down brah!
Vaibhava Joshi My ass is calm, don't worry! ;]
I do agree with you, but I could deal with the video quality, the sound quality should be better though
Your logic is flawed. Ohhh Man... I love your pic and name. I sooo miss the original Star Trek.....had to love Spock......miss that show but do have the whole series on DVD...just not the movies.....darn it...
Daphne Williams
yeah, it was pretty good and innovative, although there were some crazy stuff :D
I never watched any Star Trek film actually
3M now, you guys rock!
3,132,119 yay me!
3,175,000 and who counts its James & bois :D
#MetallicaForever 🔥
Props to metallica on this one because they released the Black Album and were obviously on the verge of becoming hugely popular to a mainstream audience and they decided to play older stuff for this crowd that had never seen them live before. But damn, do they sound good here, from 89-92 Metallica Live sounded unbelievable.
Dude this was my hay day and right after the black album came out metallica was playing all there songs in concert. I forget what they called it but I seen them in 91 and it was just like this
47:57 JAMES SAID "MORE BEER" :D
I thought he was saying bullshit Peta lmao
Hahahaha... It's a great information, great interation
Kirk immediately regretted tossing his guitar at the end. ;)
The-Art-of-Guitar Yeah he did
Maybe the most EPIC live in history!!!
i am fucking sad,the metal is dead,we will never see a show like this...
No, Im 12 and I and my friends hear metal and want to make a band
huba buba Good hear that man... go ahead !
Marcos Utak Thank u very much ;)
I myself am in a metal band. The future of metal is safe rest assured!!!
Marcos Utak Yes you will, you just have to know where to look.
Where's Doc Brown and the DeLorean when you need it? *\m/*
you only need doc he'll make up a time traveling machine from some old jalopy
They have no empty seats in their car. Maybe a train would do :)
The best Metallica live performance I've ever seen...
When Metalllica were great.
Couldn't had said it better myself
1:08:25 James started play ACDC ))))))
That was Kirk
If there was youtube back then, the views counter would blow up.
Anyone watching in 2018
Yes, me
Of course there are people watching this in 2018.
Wrapping my year up with it. 🤘🏻

Clearly my best 1:21:09 spent on my life. If only I could be born in eighties... Back in the great music days.
BEST JAMES VOICE EVER!

How can a voice be so goddamn flawless. He can scream like hell and it sounds like an angel singing.
best concert ever. best track harvester of sorrow. chills every time down my back. thanks for the upload.

"I RULE THE MIDNIGHT AIIIIIIRRRRRR!!!!"
best metal voice ever
This is the real Metallica. They are now tired old versions of themselves. They still are good at what they do, they just don't have this anymore. Also Newsted left, in my opinion they have never been the same without him. This is why I love Metallica, when I first heard them in 1986 they were like this. Now it is a corporation and about the money. Maybe the next album will be good, but it wont be memorable as their first five albums.
they are awful live now, really sad.
What I never fully understand is why their talent disappeared between 1991 and 1996. Really, if you won't play anymore thrash and have long hairs, at least try to play something more sophisticated, evoluted, not two trivial albums (load & reload) two pure shits (lulu and st anger) and only one decent album (death magnetic), money can really turn upside down people...
Seriously, it's like this concert just got to them it was so fucking amazing... I wouldn't blame them in that case.
Your right after Newsted left they haven't been the same. i'm not really expecting much for the next album, DM was not too good. 2000 and earlier is the best Metallica.
Surely they got talent. so what happened to them to waste it?
im disappointed i wasn't even born when this happened
If you were born back in '91, I have a feeling you wouldn't make it to this show anyways... but rock on \,,/
So sick!! Almost a million Russian fans, like 10 stadiums deep and wide.. No tiers, bleachers, or seating... Just General Admission Standing room only... Wonder how long it would take to crowd-surf from back to front without disintegrating into ashes.
andrexh there were 1.5-1.7 mil people there
andrexh 57 people died.....they died very happy i imagine !!
Patricia Howard 57?? Holy fuck!!
Alexander Pedersen i know right?
Patricia Howard It's sick!! But that's the price some have to pay to see the best band in fucking history.
I would have paid anything to be able to go to that concert.
Sad thing i wasn't even born in 1991...
Creeping Death must be the most awesome performance in history!
harvestor sounds sooooooooooo amazing here.wow
Best Metallica's show ever!
Ohhh it's a pity they cut Master I love the 2nd part :(
Hetfield still had his voice, here. Seems he more or less lost it in the mid 90's.
antiHUMANDesigns yea he blew out his vocal chords sometime in the early to mid nineties touring for the black album. Hence why his voice has never been the same.
It was during a cover of So What that he ruined that perfect metal voice. I never liked that song anyway, they never should have covered it.
have ya heard 'spit out the bone' bruh?
Vaibhava Joshi Yes, on the new album, he's finally regained some of his voice! It's awesome! Great album.
antiHUMANDesigns s&m done in 99 is probably his best vocal performance ever. That and live shit: binge and purge
Im hooked on metallica FOREVER more.
that concert my friends is a monument for music history, period
Jason backvocals was awesome.
The most epic concert ever... I enjoy it twice 'cause it happened in my country.
1989-1992 Metallicas best times on lives scene!!
What i can to say?!!! I WAS THERE!!!
After this concert, I saw and feel a lot of things.
But never anything like this
Metallica is freaking awesome band ever. They are my favourites with Lamb-of-God. And that crowd is similar to a sea. Great band with great fans.

I've waited for years for a full concert video of this legendary performance of Metallica in Moscow! I'm forever thankful to the uploader!!!
wow i was 10 when this happent but ive been metallica fan since 1988, and still love them
Metallica in their prime. Glad i seen them that same year in Rotterdam.
James brutals voice, one the best periods of Metallica. Yeah!
One of their best live performances ever
sucks Burton died that guy was a legend
Raubritter1488
why you mad though? did she kiss you goodnight after taking a load to the face?
Javier Ahumada Newsted was better suited for Metallica , yeah Burton was a very unique bassist but Metallica sound better with a plectrum style bass , their best 2 sounds are on Justice & Black Album , also Newsteds live performance was amazing.
Ian Cahill The hell are you talking about, they practically toke out his bass tracks from the original Justice album out of spite, and tone wise they are both equally matched.
Javier Ahumada I agree with you brother! Newsted is a good bass player but not even close to as good a bassist as Burton was. Lightning & Puppets have the best bass lines out of their entire career!! The guy that said Justice has the best bass sound is a moron. There is hardly any bass in the mix whatsoever. Cliff kept amazing rhythm, but also had such a melodic style for fills and leads as well. Anyone who feels differently, listen to "Orion"!!
Ian Cahill
"Best 2 sounds are on Justice & Black Album"
Shit opinions right here boys.
Shows how brutal and talented they were in the early days this was just after the release of one of the best albums of all time the blck album but the fact they throw in a lot of stuff from the first 4 albums is what makes this show great .
James Betts this is 10 years into their career this wouldn't be considered "early days"
Great! Thanks so much!
Harvester of Sorrows still gives me chills!

best setlist ever!
thank you!
To all those who say James blew his voice out on the recording of So What, well guess what kids? THIS CONCERT WAS AFTER THAT SONG WAS RECORDED and NO, his voice did NOT sound blown out bitches!!!
Actually, he did. After that he had to do vocal warmups before each show, and he still does.
He can still sing like this but he had done it again in 1993 I think and he's more conservative with his singing style since then, so that he can still talk when he's older.
This set is simply PERFECTION
So happy ive gotten to see them play
Prime Metallica- How fucking good were these rockers? I'll tell you- the best
Robert Trujillo is a better overall bassist, but damn Jason Newsted is a much better stage presence / backup singer.
John Rolando But Burton was the best to walk the earth
He sure is
Finnaly you guys visited us (after 20 years) @ 25 August 2013...love it!!!
great share, thanx mate, after all those years this sound never fails to my ears, great upload,God Bless !!!!!!!!
JASON IS THE MAN! WHAT A SHOW
Mathieu Desautels Jason is the best bass player in Metallica
Biggest concert I have ever seen, that's a shitload of people, probably about 3 million...
Jeffrey Bos i think there were about 1.2 or 1.3 million people at this concert. It def. one of the biggest ever in terms of attendance.
thanks!
THANK YOU SOOOO MUCH¡¡¡¡
They played "puppets" without "Master". It's Sad but true.
It doesn't get any better than this!!!
13:02 amazing how Jason ruled that course of vocals.
I was there.
