It's 2002, you're walking home from school. You stop at the 7-11 on the way home and you see these packs on the front counter. The guy behind the counter, who looks like a skinny version of Comic Book Guy, scans one of the packs. They cost $2.95. You take it home and turn the tv on to WB and you're watching a block of Jackie Chan Adventures, Yugioh and various other cartoons. We'll never get that magic back...

My 7-11 didn’t carry booster packs for some reason but they did have Starter deck Yugi/Kaiba for sale next to the cigarettes and lighters😂 I worked my ass off doing chores and cutting neighbors lawns and trees just to earn $20 so I could buy starter deck Kaiba. It cost around $15 if I remember correctly. That same box is $600 minimum today and that’s not even 1st edition. Great memories though! Thanks for sharing your story as it brought me down memory lane.😊
I lived two blocks from a card shop. I’d do anything to go back in time to relive one of those days. I’d go and buy packs, show off some cards, trade, play some duels. Those days will never be back 😭

Great video Ruxin34. You opening those vintage packs got me so nostalgic. Back in the day I remember buying those from CVS pharmacy. I also remember when I was younger, the tooth fairy use to leave me yugioh cards under my pillow instead of cash. Now that I am a 20 something millennial I can't wait until April for the 25th Anniversary Yugioh Box, especially since my birthday is in April as well haha 😂😂

Gotta say it’ll be the 2002 true vintage packs. Have some of the best memories buying 3 packs of those MRL’s at 7-11 riding my bike home from school every Friday with my weekly earned allowance in 5th grade. Good times.

It's crazy how vividly I can remembwr picking up my first couple of LOB boosters. The fact I bought like 4-5 of them for a friend's birthday and they were like 15€ compared to what they are now is kind of mind-blowing. 🤯
I love these old school videos and I have to root for the older packs. The memories of playing yugioh as a kid is among my most fond memories, and the sealed part of the game was part of it :)

The old school packs are always my favorite. I still remember when LOB came out and then each of the additional sets. I remember going to the store and being so pumped when I’d be able to buy a few packs and couldn’t wait to see what I’d get. Even though I’m sure the reprints have an advantage because of the random cards and maybe even better quality control. I have to pick the originals to win, a heart of the cards type moment lol.

Old school will always have a special place in my heart. The smell of the pack will always be in my memories. But if I am being honest, the reprint will do better in the long run. The old school will always be tampered with tbh. Loose packs are too unpredictable

When it comes to old school vs newer stuff, I ALWAYS root for the old days because nothing ever beats the old day. At least when it comes to nostalgia

I was born a year after yugioh dropped, in 2003, but when i was old enough i started with some old GX packs at my local Toys R Us. That was a good time I remember.

I appreciate reprints for being an affordable alternative to the original prints. But old school is where it's at!

A gas station where I lived as a kid used to make so much money off me when I bought bootleg OG yugioh packs from them lol I held on to a card called "Exodia The Dark Master" for so long thinking it was real 😅
I think old school has the edge over reprint packs here. It has higher value for the same pulls after all
The problem with that idea is that the reprints have the updated chances.
It was harder to pull Secrets and Ultras in the original sets and the original sets also couldn't pull a Rare and a holo at the same time. Not to mention who knows if he's opening retail or hobby and retail packs have the worst of the two secrets. You don't get Gate Guardian, Jinzo, or DMG from retail packs, for example.
So while a big one in the originals could blow the reprints out of the water in value with just a single card, you're far less likely to actually get one of them.
Dude my dad would buy me a pack of yugioh cards everyday from sheetz the gas station, needless to say my collection grew so fast! Let’s go old school 💪🏻

I think reprint packs will typically win over unlim old school packs solely because the original packs you can’t pull either secret.

Hmm, if I have to pick, I'd say the reprint packs have more chances to pull better, since I feel they have more foils than the OGs. I want to see amazing pulls from the OG though!
This was a fun opening! Nice, easygoing Yugi sunday. Some pretty nice foils, and it's always nice to see the original sets open!
I'll never forget pulling blue eyes white dragon from a reprint lob and the a ton blue eyes from a reprint pack as well

Gotta go with reprints for this. Value is higher in the OG sets but chance is much lower to actually get one of them.
And it would only have been worse for the OG sets prior to the 25th announcement when the unlimiteds in those sets dropped like 50%.
