  • The Appo run is below a lake dammed up for the water supply for the city of Petersburg. They routinely will pull water from the overflow, usally causing a foot of water to drop out of the river. I've been lucky to miss it most time but they got me on this run. The water was supposed to be around 3 feet, that's a perfect level for fishin and the rapids start getting exciting. Right before I launched the water level was dropping. I did most of the run with the level really low at 2.3 feet. I couldn't go my favorite route at the level.
The fishing was alright, biggest of the day was a 16 incher. The action picked up a little in the afternoon and as the water level started to rise as they released water back into river. The last 3rd of the river it passed 3 foot. I took a break and watched the water rise 3 inches in 10 minutes. Fun run even though I scraped through most of it.
    Water Level: 2.33-3.24 feet, 322-790cfs
    Water Temp: 69°-74°
