Good to see someone being a positive representation of a construction business owner. Nice work! - Please just take it easy with rapid growth, I know from experience. Went from £10m t/o with £700k net in 2019 to dead broke, laying off loyal employees and losing my home in 2021. Extract what you can and stay away from PG's, contracting can be unforgiving and it's not fun starting again in your 40's!! - Good luck

Also.. I made the mistake of confiding in one of my clients about the difficulties. They saw the writing on the wall and oportunistically withheld their last 90k bill "in case we went out of business". Which of course contributed to our fate. - All a learning experience though 'ey?

Yea, I own a manufacturing business. Hiring, training, developing and retaining employees is the difference. People that exploit and treat their employees poorly are going out of business. I am amazed how many people own businesses and yet they have no respect for their employees and workforce. They literally refuse to respect and honor their greatest and most critical asset. When they go out of business I see it as 'justice'.

Well to speak on the “incompetent” worker part, I know guys who have entered the business to learn so they can go solo at one point or another and what I find is the guys who have the experience and mastery are sometimes scumbags and don’t want to share knowledge, wisdom or to teach. Most guys see that and say why work for a scumbag you know? I don’t blame them. You also have to see that some guys dont want to work for the man all their lives and want to try their hand at being the man.
