    This is so amazing! I haven't watched your channel before but this was so well done I immediately subscribed. I think I know the direction I want to go with my first grader now 🙂 Now I just have to figure out writing for my third grader. I don't feel like she is quite ready your IEW but the PAL writing is geared for K-2. Does IEW have an in between program?

      Yes they have the community helpers one that I love ❤️

    I love that they are both phonics based with activities even though they use a different approach!!! We prefer a phonics approach but we don’t mind sight words as long as it’s taught later on but one concept at a time!!! My older kids had to learn sight words and still learning to break them down at times apart from my 16 year old!!! We kept AAR at home but travel with the readers!!! My kids felt pushed so we tried something else!!! My 16 year old reads the readers for extra practice!!!

    Been waiting for this one! Really appreciate you creating this video. It's super helpful with the side by side and including the time commitment (noting that the writing does extend the PALs). For reading comprehension purposes, which program would you say is more helpful?

      They both do a good job but I probably prefer AAR for reading comprehension as long as you follow the cues in the teacher book during the lessons

    Have you ever paired the between the two programs where you match the letters between the to programs

      I have not personally although we do still like to play the games from time to time

    I really appreciate this video 💕! Would you say All About Reading is similar to Abeka's reading/Phonics curriculum?

      @LifeintheMundane  Před 29 dny +1

      I have never used Abekas reading/phonics so I’m not sure

    I am so overwhelmed trying to pick a good learning to read program!!!
    With multiple kids and dealing with a lot of difficult circumstances I need something simple and not too time consuming and stress free for the teacher.
    What program would you recommend?

    • @LifeintheMundane
      @LifeintheMundane  Před 29 dny

      For that I prefer All About Reading.

      @@LifeintheMundaneDoesn’t AAR still have a lot of prep work?
      Do you have a recommendation for something just as effective but very little or no prep work?
      I really don’t have time for a lot prep work with everything we have going on.

      @@beachgurl788 so I choose to prep the curriculum for the whole year at once so it’s one big day of prep and then nothing the rest of the year. But it doesn’t have to be done like that it can be that the day of your lesson you cut out the pieces for that day which probably would take you 5min or less.
      That being said if you want something with even less maybe check out Happy Cheetah Reading. Here is a comparison between that and AAR

      I have been using AAR for 6 years straight with multiple children and do not find the prep intensive even doing it all day of.

    What do you recommend after PAL?

    • @LifeintheMundane
      @LifeintheMundane  Před 22 dny

      After completing IEW’s Primary Arts of Language (PAL) reading program, the next steps depend on your child's reading mastery. If your student has mastered reading skills, you can transition from learning to read to reading to learn by introducing rich literature and additional language arts components such as grammar, spelling, and writing. If your child hasn't mastered reading, consider reviewing challenging concepts or progressing to higher levels of All About Reading for further review and mastery.
