- Hi friends! 😍 Come with me to the barn to my horse riding lesson! Today I'm riding someone brand new to my channel and someone who I've never ridden before! He is an absolute sweet heart but at the same time very sassy 😂 In this lesson we learn how to do a simple lead change at the canter. I hope you enjoy this horse barn vlog. ❤️

Think of it as re-asking for the canter. When you ask for canter you put your outside leg behind the girth and squeeze. When asking for a canter lead change, move your inside leg behind the girth and squeeze. This means when you reach the other side and are back on the track again, they should be on the correct lead without falling back into trot

Ik this is an older video but it’s so funny because i just worked on lead changes last week with my horse and he surprisingly gave me flying changes which was awesome because he doesn’t normally do that! Love your videos btw 💕💕

I'm a little late but I just want to say that you did so so so good!!! Also, Bandit looks like a dream to ride! (Aside from the spice, of course 😂) his canter looks like it's fast enough to be a good pace, but calm and smooth ❤
He is absolutely lovely to ride! He has such lovely gaits but yeah he’s a very spicy boy 😅
Got love the smooth ones. I have two on my rotation of horses right now that are so smooth I can put up with our bumpy appy Finn but I have to prepare my body

Smooth canters are just the best and super nice to ride. Theres one horse at my barn that is SOO choppy in the canter and other gaits aswell its impossible to get a good seat but a good challenge.😅
The choppy ones in the end will help us get the best set that’s for sure, because if you can get sit a choppy canter you can sit anything! 😂

I rode English for the first time a few weeks ago, I learned how to tack up English and everything! I'm used to riding western so it was def new to me, but it's pretty fun, I still prefer my bareback pad with my horse though!

It def can be! I enjoy it a lot, however I've been riding in just a bareback pad to work on balance and its helping! I def recommend giving western a shot though!!@@RidewithClara Ride Safe!

I can't believe how smooth bandit is! he sounds so comfortable! we have 2 horses like that at my barn and they are amazing to ride! I am so sad I don't get to ride them that often.
Also, this is really random, but how many lesson horses are at your barn Clara? how many horses do you ride? have you ridden all of them?
Yeah he’s soo smooth! There’s a couple lesson horses like that here but Bandit is hands down the smoothest!
Oh wow good question! I can’t get a number off the top of my head but probably around 15 lesson horses?? I think I’ve ridden most of the by now :) there are some horses who are not really schoolmasters but sometimes my instructor will put us on them

We are starting to learn to jump! But we are mostly doing flat pole work to prepare us for jumping 😊

Ik I'm not clara but ik... So if you look at your outside leg (left leg) while trotting and if it goes up with the horse front left leg

Bandit usually does! There’s a couple horses that come in at night and Bandit is one of them. I’m not sure the reason exactly but there is one!

For canter your want their inside leg to be the one reaching furthest out. That means they are on the correct lead! When they change their lead means they are switching which leg is reaching further. Hope this makes sense!
