I'm 34 and Selena had been around and popular since my early 20s. When I was young I completely wrote her off as 'you know whos' EX and thought she was just another Disney kid. All this time later I think shes friggin awesome. She seems like a GENUINELY good person who wears her heart on her sleeve. Not only that but she has a chronic illness and really struggles, yet somehow manages to fight and be strong every day.
"The heart wants what it wants" broke me on so many levels when it came out because at that time I was in the middle of a messy breakup. That song is soooo underrated and it's one of her best.
This one needs a part 2!!!!!! Selena is iconic and her songs are ❤️
Selena is the only artist I've followed since childhood (I literally met her at Barbie) and I've seen many of her ups and downs over the years.
That makes me follow her with more pride, because I know at least a part of her struggles and how she has worked to achieve her balance, both mentally and emotionally.
PD: Because of her I gave K-pop a chance, when she collaborated with BP I fell in love with them and thanks to this I ended up getting to know the Korean industry.

It was a dark period moment in life for her and singing those songs may have helped her remove some loads off her chest. Of course, Justin played a big part in her life and I think she was seriously sick too. She's moved on now and that's why her songs start to be bright again and upbeat. I am happy for her now, she can focus on healing herself.
I like the guy that keeps speaking his mind and trashing the guy who hurt her and the other guy sympathising with her pain like the girls through those lyrics songs, I think he had a sense of protectiveness when he was watching those music videos.
