- Ariana Grande's "Touch It" [Live Tulsa] from her album Dangerous Woman is the topic of this new reaction/analysis/breakdown. It's a lovely song which was requested by several viewers. In it we hear a sound characteristic of Ariana Grande from a few years ago, featuring strong, powerful mixed belts, a full chest voice, some great agility and a very "pop" sounding track accompanying her. We also get to hear her great control of her break, flipping in and out of a true headvoice and playing with different levels of airiness to her voice. Like I said in this video, I feel like this was her house music phase haha. Definitely not the soul music inspired sound we hear today. Still a cute, catchy tune nonetheless. Also loving this high ponytail.

It's was all live, Ariana wasn't lip-syncing at Dangerous Woman Tour (2017) at all, everything was live and on Sweetener Tour (2019) she lipped only 35% of whistles but everything other was live. She lip-synced some parts only on Honeymoon Tour (2015) and Listening Sessions (2013). But she had a loud backing track on those last high head voice notes, she went up to D6 and briefly hit original Eb6, but it was backing track that made it sound that loud, but it was still all live, this show was only time she attempted full original climax of the song, on others she was very improvising and experimenting with different adlibs. And that G5 she did after bridge was heady mixed belt
Gosh your analyzation is perfect. PLEASE react to Ariana Grande vocals that deserve more attention by "vocal stan". She has the most accurate and best Ariana vocals provided on youtube that NO ONE has ever been able to replicate or showcase before. You will be shown a side of Ariana that will put the haters in their place of this "horrible technqiue" drama. Ariana fans are called Arianators! I’m a Lambinator (Lamb and Arianator) thank you for making this video! It’s just impossible to belt in full chest voice after a certain point so that’s why she uses mixed voice! She knows when to belt and when to mix and that “support range” stuff that those vocal stans use against her needs to stop. Her belts are actually free for the most part!

Her hair is able to be tight like that because it's actually shoulder length, the high ponytail is hair extensions attatched to the back of her head
She mixes her voice yes. But later in the tour her head voice/ falsetto flopped that she couldn't hit an A5 falsetto in some shows so she used chesty mix so it's 80% not head voice but that's just my opinion

yes vocalists use mixed voice for those high belt it’s just impossible to belt it all in chest voice up there 😅 i loved the video per usual 🥲🫶 ik ur list is satured but it’d be amazing to see a reaction of her cover of listen by beyoncé she was only 19 but her belts were still very impressive & tension less 🤍
( side note : i also very much miss the iconic high ponytail but i guess her scalp is taking its long due rest haha )

At 12:18 I think there is some chest in there. The belt is just a very good mix, mainly head dominant, but still some chest there. I can clearly hear the chest resonance in that mixed belt. In fact It's so powerful I can hear the mic being overloaded. I think she is using a cricoid tilt to allow for the vocal folds to thicken, combining with the very fast air velocity to make a super powerful Mixed belt. But that's my theory anyway🤣 I could be wrong
Maybe!!! Mixes are such a blurred line!! I do think a head voice or head dominant mix can be powerful enough to overload a mic (I’ve definitely had clipping from a head voice before personally) but yeah you could be right!! Anything I say could be wrong it’s all just an educated guess :)
@@erikatorresmusic_ That's true yeah. A cricoid and thyroid tilt don't automatically mean more chest in the mix. Just very loud and projected sound. For me the belt sounds too heavy or weighty to be fully head voice. I've heard singers do extremely high mixes, and there almost seems to be a passagio and some point, where it goes from mixed voice to like a masked head voice. But for now, I just have to do more research😅
@@calebbrwwn Yeah might have some chest in it! Who knows honestly lmao. But yeah i've talked about it in my older videos I really think Ariana is one of those who do a "masked head voice" as you call it, just uses her placement to make it strong, and pops back into equally balanced (chest/head) mixes whenever she can/needs too. At some point it just becomes too high to have chest voice in it and her mixing sounds really healthy minus the occasional strain (which happens to everyone) But yeah man I gotta research too. It's on going battle to stay on top of the information hahahaha. Thanks so much for your thoughtful comments tho!!!

She really has incredible voice, I`m a bit confused, you look so much like her, even your eyes and eyebrows shape, the whole face shape is like what she looks like. You hear this all the time but still..Just looked a picture how she looked younger before the tweaks and fillers, and also with it, you could be her sister, this is so weird omg..lol.
