The bolter was amazing for deleting elites and monstrosities back when the game first dropped, but i feel it needs more than 15 rounds per magazine. I feel the plasma gun outshines it, especially when you're 1shotting most, if not everything short of monstrosities and you have the survivalist perk. You drop godly damage and if you just focus killing specialists/elites, you'll never run out of ammo
Plasma gun is better for elites yes, but the bolter is a better all arounder and also clears hordes really well.
@@weebsarecringe2102 Clears hordes, that's what your melee is for..... Nice user name though I agree.
@@bigbobrossa8524 it's situational. And the comparisons drawn from OP was between bolter and plasma.
well right now unless i missed a new years update that changed plasma and bolter what it comes down to is , Bolter shots explode in a small radius in regards for the horde clear comments , not a huge thing thats worth it vs its clunkiness , you have to go to more work to make the bolter more efficient with the quick scope like trick youll hear ppl tell you about to make it good. Plasma Gun vs horde shoots through horde like a spear so if its a narrow enough corridor you can still clear it but again melees your more go to (honestly using the Emperors Command shout build further boosts horde handling) , youll just swap out the plasma gun to pop a heavy target (not just the ogryn types that is but anything that isnt a quick kill you can use the plasma to take out before it makes the horde more intimidating). If your struggling with the plasma gun all i can say is aim for the head and pull the trigger , its honestly a very simple mechanic because you cant "aim down the scope" for it , the aim option is basically to charge it up to narrow the shot even more (basically for an even longer distance shot). both guns eat ammo badly , bolter probably worse because its also clunky alongside the long reload time (plasmas reload time isnt any better but you can pause the reload at certain points as well to switch to melee to defend yourself). Bolter needs handling improvements but badly to justify it over a plasma gun.
Your video made me make a veteran, You make the best build videos I've seen, the end of the video being a demonstration of the build is a great touch.
Thanks mate, nice build guide. Gonna give it a blast through Auric Damnation.
Great video. Not long started the game. Level 20 vet.
This and your Columnus autogun vids have been so helpful.
As a console player i seem to struggle using the boltgun. It always seems to hover or float around a target never on them. Maybe its me but i don't have this issue with any other gun in any other game.
The aim assist is probably messing with it, try putting it on light and it should be a bit better
Try to adapt the aiming, there's some kind of tempo.
Don't spamming it,and choose your target wisely.
I use a controller on pc never had this issue. But the bolter is slow af to aim an set up
@@guilliman1990 I did when it was on the default setting, I'm also controller on pc and the default aa mode caused the same issue with certain weps
@Neko-Tsu yeah I have definitely tweaked mine but I more than hold my own in alruic damnation runs so the controller can 100% back it if you can keep up. My biggest issue is tagging things an not placing stupid way point marker hahha
To me, this build performs it’s single target elimination role better by shifting point from Redirect Fire to Deadshot. In the “oh shit” moments you want to be able to just open up a torrent of bolts and mow down the singular big threat. Redirect Fire is more a nice extra when you can afford to swap targets to make damage boost work, while Deadshot can save team’s bacon when shit hits the fan, and it synergises nicely with the all the reload buffs.
Build works great. now i can Vet again!
I stayed, subscribed and liked because of the classical music in the background
Question what did you do to get the black skin on the chainsword??
I just pray to the emperor to guide my aim... And ammo
Great build. I personally like to grab the elite base damage talent as well sacrificing toughness. Seems to work well.
Solid Video
do you find that you are still quickly able to target bombers snipers and gunners with this build? thats my only concern.
subbed for the emperors blessing hail the golden throne
man the boltgun really needs some buffs compared to the plasma gunit has way less penetration, even more ammo hungry and somehow takes longer to take out for a weapon that deals less damage it needs some love lmao
surprised youre not running the weapon customizer mod, Makes the bolter much better when you can add an optic onto it, from a dot all the way to a full blown sniper scope.
You said it the revolver is the way to go… 1 to 2 tap just about anything
What UI mods do you use?
How do you see the health bar of the enemies?
I love the bolt gun and I have a really good one on my vet. I barely ever use it because of the long animation when swapping back and forth with melee. The plasma gun or almost anything else seems to work better for swapping.
The long animation when swapping to it does feel like a drawback, but I feel like it's a bit easier to manage than the plasma guns overcharge. I used to main psyker and got good with the plasma gun at one point, so i should be used to it, but I feel like it has been really hard to go back to after not using it for the last 4/5 months. I probably just need to put the work in to get good with it again, but I found myself just liking the boltgun more and more for its ease of use 😅
@@BriggsoYTas powerful as the boltgun is, I can't stop using the new Heavy Laspistol. Sure it can't clear hordes of elites like the Boltgun can but it sure is very efficient at deleting elites/specialists without wasting a ton of ammo and keeping mobility high. Anyway great build you made, going to have to try it at some point
I'm running a somewhat similar build except at the top of the tree I took some talents on the right side because I feel like the Bolter's more of a medium to short range weapon so I like the idea of having sprint to close the distance, and there's also reload speed there and kills replenishing toughness, but otherwise it is very similar to your build
Saving this video for reference
Been playing a bit
I have found the plasma gun is better for taking out snipers and heavily armored enemies.
However you really need an adequate team to help support you when plasma gum starts to get hot
Arent crushers caparace class? why use maniac dmg?
How did you "put" Shattering impact and Surgical on the Bolter if the games says you dont have Earned Those Blessings?
You can buy profane bolters out of Brunt's Armory, level them up to Anointed (blue) at Hadron, and break them down for their blessings whilst at Hadron.
Wash, rinse, and repeat until you've got the desired blessings to choose from.
bolter works with faith, if you believe it will do big damage it will
anyways its not inaccurate, its that the devs have fd up the sight allignment, the real point where you are shooting is like 1 millimiter down from where you are aiming, of course the sight then gets in the way of what you are shooting, covering the enemies, but knowing where to shoot helps a ton, but by all means, if you dont get a clear shot just bodyshot and 2 tap most of them
This was a sweet loadout. I don't use the Bolter myself, but I really enjoyed watching you play it. Very powerful.
I don't play on Damnation (because I suck - one day I'll get my blocks and dodges down!), but favourite loadout that I play is like, a commander loadout. Just a really support-role Vet with a Kantrael Ia (it was my favourite lasgun from day one), taking as many toughness perks as I can to keep everyone's toughness up high, and trying to increase everyone's damage output with my aura and my keystone.
I struggle a bit with Crushers and things, but the two loadouts together look like they'd be solid team :D
reading this makes me feel much better about myself. i went straight into the hardest missions after getting level'd and just go nuts every time, like it's no biggie. feels good to have cut the training wheels before they were ever there- no guides or meta knowledge needed if you're a badass i suppose. i only play Zealot by-the-by.
Q: Wouldn't it be worth replacing "Target Down" with "Superiority Complex" for +15% damage vs Elites?
Surely, with how little ammo we have, Elites and Specials would be our main targets (since we can't clear chaff like we can with an autogun guild)?
This build also works really well with the new revolver that has the “fan the hammer” thing as well so if don’t mind having a bit of a damage drop off you can use the revolver to save some ammo but this build is very very nice man! Im definitely gonna use it next time I play! Thanks brother
Iron will working good only if u have over 200+ toughnes, better take middle one there.
01:38 Doesn't low mobility make it harder to reposition or escape danger, since the Boltgun takes so long to deploy and reload?
You don't reposition with the boltgun in hand. You switch to melee and make a run for it, then switch to your gun again to reload or whatever. You don't have much stamina with the boltgun so running depletes your stamina in 2 seconds. Melee weapons have more stamina to run around and you can also block/push the danger.
Wait. Do grenades not cause self damage at all?
@@BriggsoYT This makes Heresy at least a little more manageable now hahaha
Man I’m too obsessed with my KRIEG build, love my Lucius Mark II, can snipe and supress the majority of foes, and then bayonet charge the rest, if I could block with with it too it would’ve been perfection incarnate 😂
Yeah, if I could block and push with it I'd probably never use an actual melee weapon outside of horde clearing.
Is it because of 40k's lore that boltgun have small ammo capacity? Can it be more than 15? Maybe 20 max?
Those are Human sized bolters in the game not Space Marines patterns so the ammunition carried is very limited, an actual full sized SM pattern bolter couldn't be carried by a regular Human being, let alone firing it!
@@mamons_2339 Yup, depending on the pattern it can range from 20 to a 100.
I switched from console to PC just so I can have better aim with this beast of a gun. Mouse & board is unbeatable.
Pros of using bolt gun: it looks cool
Cons of using bolt gun: literally downgraded version of plasma gun
Do some live stream if u can
kalash и mefdronka :D
I have a very ultra simple solution about the Bolter accuracy :
Turn into a SPACE MARINE.
Problem solved.
What do you sigh ? :o
