I know Suga, not personally, but he and I are similar in many ways, and I do have people like J-Hope in my life. While Suga is rough around the edges, and tends to be serious a lot. I feel like he is similar to me in a way, thoughtful and analytical. But J-Hope's personality is able to bring out the sunshine and joy in Suga's personality. It's a super powerful effect, you wouldn't understand until you feel it and especially with his difficult history. If you can find someone that can make you feel that way, you have a wonderful friendship.

All I see is two people showing brotherly love to each other, because they know each other for so long. Yoongi is growing to be more thoughtful of people, which he probably has to make a conscious effort to accomplish that. He is probably able to do that for Hoseok the easiest, because Hoseok is a thoughtful person and he already receives a lot from him, also there's a lot he can learn from Hoseok. On the other hand Hoseok is learning to take it down a notch and think of himself a bit and accepting a bit of appreciation, instead of trying to give everyone energy and being everyone's hope all the time. There's a lot he can learn from Suga in that regard, there's no one as assertive and good at energy-conserving as Suga. Hoseok can be assertive in his own way, but he always keeps an eye on harmony and how everyone is feeling, sometimes forgetting himself and if he is feeling something different from the group he will probably shut it off to keep the peace. I bet there is a lot he can learn in that regard from Suga. Anyways they're opposites in some ways and I bet they will feel awkward with each other sometimes, because their minds are wired really different from each other, but I can see how they could admire each other because the other has what they don't.

I honestly feel like their friendship has been growing lately. I really like the reasons that you listed. It may also be because they are close in age, are both very sensible in their own way, very passionate about what they do. They probably feel like they don't judge each other, because none of them is trying as hard when they are together: Hoseok appears more relaxed while Yoongi seems happier and livelier.
Anyway, Yoongi has been extremely supportive of Hoseok lately, with the whole hashtag thing going on and Hoseok feeling insecure because he was doing an album intro for the first time. The whole "J-HOOOPE" thing, and Yoongi recommending Hoseok's solo song in a show because his own song got censored (he could not have it played on air). On the other side, when Yoongi cried at the MAMA, it was Hoseok that immediately comforted him, and kept doing so backstage. They also did the last V Live together, and we all know what happened the last time Hoseok tried to do a V Live alone. I'm glad they can both rely on each other.
Their friendship is heartwarming to see in my opinion. I am glad to see that they are helping each other out.
Coincidentally, Yoongi and Hoseok are the two members I look up to the most in Bangtan ^^
