Hello, this is Peter from the Hungarian Dance Univ. where I'm a methodology teacher on the Hungarian folk dance faculty. We have same character of lad's dances so thank you for the great and impressive performance. Take care of you… 🙂
Hi Peter! I'd love to see your dancing. Which video would you recomend? I toured Hungary in 2004, was great to see Hungarian folk dancing! - Hallgrim
And here we can observe the Norwegian performing its mating dance.
That's why we are only 5 million people :P
Thats why we Norwegians are so good :) Survival of the fittest
Because we don't have sex! I haven't had me a woman since 2009. Does a fish need a bike?
LOL
Very stranger answers, above...!
Ragnhild holding the hat is his wife. She is a master fiddler and one of Norway's leading violinsts, along with her sister
*steve Irwin voice* "ah yes and here we see the courting dance of the wild Norwegian, as he attempts to impress his potential mate! And it appears to be working, as she has accepted his hat several times! "
No one's mentioning the fiddle player in the background... YOU ARE DOING A GREAT JOB, KEEP IT UP!!! PRACTISE 40 HOURS A DAY!! 🎻🎻🎻
But I'll never be as good as Ling Ling :(
@@FishLunchy One day...One day.
@@wandren912 he's playing kjeringje i snødreve
Yes one day
❤️
Keep this dance and Norse traditions alive.
When you live in a country that’s generally tilted at 45° then this is the energy you need.
Hehe, the mountain trips might help for the dancing, yes 😉🤣
Unlike those 180° fools in Netherland.
I'm addicted to energy, greetings from a kid from india :')
Absolutely marvelous, such dexterity, command of movement, such control and understanding of the folklore.
I am deeply impressed.
Mark Adderley thank you for such a Nice comment 😀
Man, im absolutely in love with norwegian culture, music, dance andall of it. I absolutely adore it
- Greetings from Sweden
props to the lady holding up something like that for ages... your arms get really tired
If you find yourself in Norway in 1832, and you want to get laid, you just do what this guy does.
Vakert❤🎉❤❤🎉🎉❤fràn 1538🎉❤❤

+- GreenPiece - Thank you! Yes, it's inspiring to take part in such a rich tradition
Hallgrim is a great athlete and a very sympathetic guy too.
I'm nerding on movements, and am amazed over this guy, smooth af
So much swag.
He must have the heart of a horse. Beautiful. Amazing.
+Greg Scott Thank you!
WOW. First time seeing this. I was always told my ancestors were Halling. So, something stirs in the heart!
Why
this dance is certainly unique among Scandinavian dances...A solo and test of dance rhythym/athletism for a guy. I love the part improvisational part of it, part supreme athletism (one needs thighs of steel), part show off---its a beautiful blend of all three--like stylized show off for the girl of ones dreams (maybe guy too?!)
I agree, there is a great desciption in a historic novel by Vera Henriksen now I know what she was taliking about.
Now that's some sick dance ! Greetings from France !
+FliedelMaggotcakes Merci!
Fliedel thanks😊
Answer from Norway
Hallgrim is a great athlete and a nice guy
eg ynskjar at fleire ville dyrke hallingdans
The most amazing dancing I have ever seen!
Thank you so much 🙏🏻😀
Fascinating. Some moves are also typical of Russian, Turkish and Egyptian dances!
+Sandra Carli Thank you! Yes, I guess there are ancient connections. Some of the moves are more than 1000 years old, and the vikings travelled a lot to Russia and Istanbul.
+frikar are you the dancer in this video?
Frikar is a dancing group created by Hallgrim, the dancer in this video, so it could be he who answered you :)
Here I am dying after 30 squats.. this guy does them to stall time
🤣
I very much need a hardanger fiddle. The music itself is mesmerizing!
Hva er spesielt med skandininavia, absolutt ingenting - SAS. Flott:)
FANTASTISK!!!!!!
Fantastisk flott utført.
Reminds me of the dance from Eurovision 2009 (Fairytale)
That was also halling dance
Same guy.

lol
Så kult liker halling 😍👍beste norske folkedans 😊👍
Someone, at some point have had to be the first to do this. Codos for the creativity!
Absolutely amazing, Hallgrim!
That guy is in SHAPE! But, ff this is a mating dance, I hope it is not how Norwegians mate - the man does all the gyrations and the woman doesn't move and just holds the pole.
wmlbrown Thank you. Actually for me this is not so much of a mating dance but a great way of finding out what I can do and express with my body. By the way, this dance is danced by women as well since the 1700's :)
Yes that is exactly how we mate, et es verri cuul rait
The funny thing is it’s exactly the opposite when we mate. The woman does all the gyrations and the man doesn’t move and just holds the pole.
Lazy women
Han er flink❤😂🎉😅😊
Fy søren Hallgrim, dette var fantastisk!
Классный танцор! Ещё и акробат отменный! Для него нет ничего невозможного, всё на высшем уровне!

Fantastisk ! Tusen takk ! :)
Well, this is a total melcocha (really awesome weird mix) of many dances.
I love it!!!
Weii.....if you believe that the " ..weird mix...of many dances" is something they have thrown together after watching youtube - then you are wrong.
This kind of dance has long traditions in Norway.
If you go back 300 years to the 1700th then the dance and the fiddle playing was tried to be stopped by the the church.
They meant that specially women became "immoral"
from that.
Sorry, but break dance came some hundred years after the Norwegians had started their acrobatics.
Hope you got a little more knowledge about traditions and that it goes back in time " a little " longer than the existence of internet.
This style of dance is very old in Norway.
Utrolig kult!
Herlig!
Utrolig- at det går an!
After being 2 days in Norway:
When you're 0.1% Norwegian
i love this so much you are so so cute!😖 (the man)
Viking Break Dance, Anno Domini 873.

Ok, the guy is spinning on his head with arms folded. Your argument is clearly invalid.
