    As a Dutchman I will tell you what the problem is with the Dutch desception;
    The Netherlands didn't even deserved to be on this tournament at the first place. When 2 big tournaments were missed (EC2016 & WC2018) the Dutch Football Association brought forward Frank de Boer as a new coach for replacing the other coaches underperformance. BUT this coach was already known for his underperformance in the Serie A, Premier League and MLS. Thus the reason why they fired him even before finishing the season. And now this man is leading our country into oblivion. At the European qualification it didn't go so well, but they still managed to qualify with alot of missery. The only reason why they survived the group stage is that Austria, Ukraine and North-Macedonia are not that strong compared to others.
    Even thought the Dutch would survive with ease at the beginning, but that did not occur. Winning the group stage didn't go easy, but the reason why they won is that Ukraine made alot of mistakes in their defence. It took the Dutch 53 minutes to score, while Ukraine scored 2 goals against them within 5 minutes.
    Austria lost from the Dutch, because the Dutch played well and Austria strongest attacker Arnautovic was dismissed for that match.
    Against North-Macedonia they won, but the first 30 minutes the Dutch defence were in sleep and it could have lead to 2 goals from North-Macedonia.
    Overall the Dutch won 3 times and were 1st in their group, but it took alot of effort to score a descent goal.
    But against a little bit stronger as the Czech Republic their vulnerability were exposed and these days the reason that they are highly overrated now.
    The Dutch fans thought that they would go to the half final, because Czech Republic and Denmark are not that strong compared to Portugal, Germany on paper. They were already celebrating thought they would go far in this tournament and went to Hungary to also make their political statement with their rainbow flag against an anti-LGBTQ Hungarian political decision. BUT they were punished for their arrogance and they deserved it even more. Football = football and the focus should be kept on football as what it is.
    The Dutch finished 3rd in World Cup 2014 and since then it went downhill.

The Czech Republic showed up with an impressive game plan, their squad worked as a unit and there is always a bit of luck involved but if you can´t get the million dollar earners to work as a team individual quality may not prove sufficient.

    If you look carefully at goal chances before red card, it was 2:2. Souček and Barák for Czechia. Netherlands had one turmoil in penalty box and then the breakaway right before red card. But there was a foul on Kalas in this Netherlands breakaway that VAR might see if it’s a goal.
    After red card Netherlands had 0 big chances and Czechia had 3 big chances and 2 of those were scored.

    Netherlands are good with the ball, had the easiest group and played at home. Bad coach though, and their tactic/approach is predictable.
    Czech Republic played WC semifinalist England and Scotland away and World Cup finalist Croatia.
    Look, it was one of the good games by Czechs, they can play badly too. But they beat England 2-1 at home relatively recently and drew Belgium 1-1. The strengths of Czech side are: organisation, fitness, many players cover pitch well both in offense and defense - Souček, Masopust. It’s hard to score against Czechs. They have good set pieces, Schick as a striker. Overall they’ll adapt to the opponent, nullify his scoring chances and eventually score. Ironically the forced substitutions of Bořil and Darida for Kadeřábek and Barák plus the swap of Jankto for Ševčík were good, as these are in better form currently and also have some ancient chemistry from Slavia Prague (Barák, Ševčík, Masopust, Souček, Holeš).
    The red card helped a lot but honestly, on big chances it was kinda even at that point.
