    Hi, great video. I have bought the same rice cooker. I have some challenges with cooking the rice like I see you do in your video. I use Jasmine rice which is said to be a little more sticky than basmati or pandan rice. On my pakkage of Jasmine rice the instructions says 1 cup - 1,5 cup water. I been experimenting with 2 cups rice and 3 to see if it makes any difference. The rice is almost glued together and at the bottom there is some coating layer after cooking, I guess the sugar of the rice made it into a caramilized layer - that is not good right! - I got the advice to use 2 cups of water on 1 cup of rice but get the exact same glued together rice only with 2 cups of water it became more mushy. 1 on 1 same sticky rice and the day after it even became big chunks. The pandan rice went a little better to get the rice separated but still get a caramel layer at the bottom. maybe you can help me out what is going wrong - I thought maybe the 1.8 pan doesn't do well with small portions like 2 cups. Love to hear your advice

    • @makingme
      @makingme  Před rokem +2

      So i think you should follow the instructions on the respective packets. If it doesnt work then maybe change brands. Regarding the bottom, dont keep the cooker on for long, once the water is gone switch it off.

      This is not true. This is steamed rice. Boiled rice is when you cook the rice, uncovered, in a hefty amount of boiling water - then drain to serve. Steamed rice is when you cover the rice, use far less water and after simmering slightly, the steam finishes the cooking. There's no boiling involved. Just like there is no boiling involved in this video - only simmering, then steaming. The fact it touches the water doesn't mean it's not steamed.
