    Ghana is not asking the Liberians to go. All the government is saying is that they have to either integrate into the society by looking for their own accomodation just like the ordinary ghanaians do or go back to Liberia. The war ended about 30 years ago and the camp was officially closed in 2010, the government together with UNHCR gave them money to either integrate into the society or go back to Liberia. Some Liberians got themselves integrated, married and had children with the society and are now living happily in ghana with their children enjoying free education. Others left for Liberia. But the lazy ones still don't want to work and pay rent, like the citizens do, and still want to be accorded refugee status after 30 years of the end of the liberian civil war. That land belongs to the chiefs and people of Buduburam and are demanding for their land to be released back to them for development. In Ghana, the Government does not own lands. Lands belong to individuals and the chiefs who hold them in trust for the people.

      @@markdempsey1088 hmmmmmm .... What you're saying is very true. The UN ruled in 2006 that it's safe for them to return back home but they've refused. If you'll not go back home, just integrate into the country, that one too they'll not. The land they've occupied over the years does not belong to the government and owners want it back. Maybe they were thinking they keep the land for themselves, which is crazy to say the least.

  • @relax0180
    @relax0180 Před 25 dny +11

    Pure ignorance. In Ghana, the government does not own lands. Lands belong to individuals and the chiefs. The chiefs hold the land in trust for the people. However, when government needs land for a project, the chiefs are contacted for the release of the land and compensations are made. But the land still remains the property of the chiefs and their people. That Buduburam refugee camp lands are not for the government. Period.

Now they have schools, etc that were built for refugees. Liberian should have gone back home long time because How can you accept staying to a place without them giving you work permit.

    What is the Liberian Embassy doing about the situation? African leaders enjoy running away from responsibilities. Corruption from "Sun up to Sundown". I weep for Africa.

      Are you even Liberian or know what's going on? The government in Ghana wants them to stay in Ghana but not in the camp. Liberians are refusing to integrate in the society. The land the camp is on, belongs to the government or some entity and they want their land back. Liberians who are living in the camp need to find a house to rent and live in not on the camp. Do you understand it now?

    Thanks for the effort to update us on the situation in the Buduburam camp. But your audio with the interviewers is very poor as we hear you clearly, n it's a matter of editing to correct the recording so we can also hear their response as you do. You seem to repeat some of the responses, whereas you could get the mic closer to them as it is with you.

      Thanks for watching but I can't edit the audio. This was a live video. If you're living in America, you should know about live videos.
