- After 26 years of running the annual Kelowna Knox Mountain Hillclimb, I have finally beaten the 2:00 minute "holy grail" barrier. Finished the weekend with a 1:57.556 on Sundays second run up the hill. First ran the Hill in 1995 with a 1971 Datsun 510, best time that year was 2:26. In 2017, managed a 2:04.322, after running for 22 years. Datsun was retired that year.
In 2018, I acquired a 1998 Caterham Series 3 and prepared it to run the hill. Took a couple years to feel comfortable in car, and after a 2 year Covid hiatus, was hoping to come away from the weekend with a personal best!
Really not sure ,"what's next?"
BIG Thanks to all the volunteers and drivers that have made this event happen for the past 63 years!!!
Fast run! nice
I'm looking at trying this event. It looks like a blast. What is the weight of your car and what kind of power?
Just wondering what it takes to break the 2 minute barrier? other than skill.
Hi Dylan…..car weighs 1275lbs and is powered by a European GM, Vauxhall C20xe, 2.0 liter twin cam developing 205hp. Caterham 6-speed close ratio gearbox and limited slip differential.
The last questions answer is simply…..the right car on the right tires.
