Deceptive title about explosive training footage aside, I am glad Conor McGregor is returning vs Michael Chandler. Chandler isn't a chump, but I believe he is tailor made type of opponent to get wrecked by Conor. I see this going one of 3 ways: like the Chad Mendez fight, the Eddie Alvarez fight, or a variation of the Aldo fight (I don't mean him winning with the first punch, but I do mean Mac sparking Mike with 1 big shot, relatively early in the fight).
Now, this does hinge on whether Conor McGregor has gotten his mojo back. Since leaving featherweight Mac has an😢 atrocious 3-4 record with all 4 losses being ITD. I think this could have been even worse for Conor if he wasn't given the perfect rebound fight with Ceroni. But even having a great performance over Cowboy wasn't rebound enough to get over what happened against Khabib. McGregor was way too emotionally invested in that fight, and Khabib not only took the win from him, he also took his belt, and his soul. Khabib really poured it on, even setting his own UFC personal best for total strikes thrown and landed, and significant strikes thrown and landed.
After that kind of ass whoopin, the Conor McGregor that got into the cage with Dustin Poirier in their 2nd and 3rd fights was not the same Mystic Mac that was so effective at getting into Dustin's head in the first fight. In fact, Mac was so in his own head it was like the roles were reversed in the 2nd and 3rd fights with Conor getting stopped in both. Though of course the last stoppage one was due to the leg injury rather than Dustin dusting him.
So now the questions are; Could Michael Chandler ko Conor McGregor? Yeah, he has enough power to make that a possibility.
Could he take Mac down and grind out a submission or a decision? Yeah, he has the ground skills to make this possible also. This means, in my opinion, Michael Chandler actually has more ways to win than Conor does.
BUT, that being said, I believe Mac is ready to rock, and he will get in there and stop Chandler. Conor has the height (I think Mike is closer to 5'6" than his listed 5'8"), the reach, and the speed advantage. And while both men have 1 strike ko power, Conor has style advantage to deliver that power to its destination.
Conor by round 1 or 2 ko/tko is my prediction.
What we should really be asking is can Chandler dunk? Bro got high AF on that backflip

Maybe, maybe not. He has admittedly been pumping up on steroids. He should be stronger but I don’t think that’s going to play to his advantage. Strength was never his weakness. His advantage was speed and timing. His unwillingness to cut weight shows his lack of discipline and he has gassed out quickly as a result. He has a decent fight IQ but better know that Chandler has been and will be training his ass off and will be trim and ready to fight. It could go either way.
To his credit, he’s only fought 4 times. Other than Cowboy, he’s only fought the best fighters. Was out for 2 years when he fought Khabib and was the ONLY fighter who got a round on him. Poirier was at his absolute prime. And he fought at 170.
I don’t think folks realize how competitive this dude always is, even when he’s been out of the game.

At Conor’s best he would knock Chandler out within two rounds but which Conor shows up and how much does he have left? Inactivity doesn’t bode well for timing and timing was key to Conor’s success with his counter shots. If his timing is on point he will knock Chandler out

This fight all depends on Conor's conditioning, takedown defense, his wrestling, and of course his chin. If he can keep Chandler at range he has a good chance at catching him with something but if Chandler gets on top of him, it is gonna be very bad for McGregor. I think we all know exactly what to expect from Chandler so it all comes down to Conor. There is no way McGregor can keep up with Chandler's pace so if it gets past 3 rounds I say Chandler wins by TKO or KO. I will be shocked if it goes beyond 3 rounds. I think it will be over in under 5 minutes.

@jasonpsutherland I'm not wrong, and a boxing stance has a shorter distance between feet than conors usual long stance. If he stood with that long stance, Dustin would have chewed his leg up even more.
Conor used to go hell for leather in sparring videos. In these sparring videos now he's doing the one strike and taking mental pictures of it, like Dustin said he done during his 2nd one with him.
Now add in his LONG break.
His lifestyle.
His lack of stamina in day one. Now add in these factors above, and he'll be struggling. I'll be betting on chandler to KO him in the 3rd. Conors best chance is an early KO. If he can't get it done in 2, he'll have nothing left.
