Direct antigen test, since during AB mediated haemolysis reaction, antibody is already present on patient red cells, so any positive reaction confirm the presence of antibody directed against patient red cells, control test is used for confirming if the positive results are due to foreign antigen(should show negative), or autoantibodies against self antigen(positive in control test)

Reason: To detect the presence or absence of a Red blood cell lysis.
Observation: Positive result: Agglutination present
Negative result; No Agglutination.

Antigen has to attach to RBC to cause hemolysis. So it is found on the RBC. Direct Coomb's rest is used to rest for antigens on RBC surface.
