Sorry to say but you're wrong! Venom is bigger, bulkier and taller than Viper (despite the glass is shorter). Which makes it more rifle orientated, Front isn't properly secured against glass scratch in the pistol holster. Also angular frame is annoying and can grab/snag the holster or clothes especially when pulling fast. Except stupid battery replacement, Viper is far more pistol orientated device.
Nowadays both products were replaced by Defender and no longer in Vortex website. Even smaller, definetly more robust (glass protection), easy to access battery and cheaper as well.

I have viper on my Henry X. Phoenix weaponry makes a mount plate for it. makes it set much lower and get a better cheek weld

That's good to know. I'll look into that because this does elevate the sight. Thank you!

I use the venom on my Glock 41. Also on my S&W 2.0 competitor, competition gun. Had to use the warranty and they replaced no question a great company with a great warranty.

Viper will allow co-witness on a Glock MOS with suppressor sights. Venom will not. Viper is also better designed for anti-snag for CCW.

Excellent review. I just bought an FN 502 and have been looking for a red dot. I was trying to decide between the Viper and Venom. Thanks!

@@ehuntr512 I just watched another video on CZcams where the guy said he had to shim the Venom since he could not adjust the reticle down low enough to sight it in. Did you have any trouble with that?

@@thecaptain6994 I didn’t. It sighted in just fine out of the box.

Got the Vortex venom mount on my ruger super blackhawk hunter.
    Why I choose the venom.
I choose the Vortex venom because you don't need to remove the venom to replace the battery and because of the great vip warranty.
