Most often being obese/underweight is due to an underlying mental condition and no it doesn't go away as you lose weight/gain weight. You need to first improve your memtal health and then lose/gain weight in a healthy, gradual and consistent manner. It's important to accept that even overweight/underweight people have feelings and a desire for love. They shouldn't be made to feel that weight loss/gain is important to find love, become successful in life or to be admired. Weight loss/gain is solely to treat your body kindly.

Sangeetha, I have had very similar experiences my whole life from family members and family-like friends my whole life.
Little did I know until my mid 30s that I had a condition called PCOS (Polycystic Ovarian Disease) which may or may not affect the ovaries. It's name may even be changed to Metabolic Syndrome. At the root of it is Insulin resistance , also behind diabetes, etc. It is more common in the South Asians.
This finally explained why I was bigger in size than my sister even though she ate môre than me!
I am so proud of you for standing up for yourself! It takes a tremendous amount of courage to do so in front of you parénts, etc.
