Well in Mainland Europe gifting a knife or a set of them as wedding gift is a hidden insult and means you hope they divorced soon, while gifting pearls or pearl necklaces in Scotland or Northern England considered as a curse, that means you hope the bride shed so many bitter tears as she got pearls in her wedding.....meaning funerals.
But gifting knives as household gift or for a new home/flat is considered good and thoughful.

Love to use msg for the taste however the after taste stings. So i try to avoid msg but nor completely not use it. I use lots of sake and shoyu. Also white and red wines.
