Actually, he's brilliant!!!! I heard him sing Tonio in Pagliacci at the Met. His voice FILLED the theater, with all color and squillo!!! This video doesn't give justice to his sound.
It seems people like him. I heard him in Viena in Ballo in Maschera and I thought his voice was small and very lyric for that role. Nothing impressive or adding anything to the Renato. Just adequate. But it could have been a bad day. Singers are nor machines, I know.
