- On this day, two years ago, speedway lost, without doubt, one of the greatest riders of all time. Ivan Mauger, six-time world champion and Belle Vue Ace from 1969 to 1972... Rest in peace the Galloping Mauger ♣️

The best speedway rider of all time no one else came close to him even this very day!!! rest in peace our dear friend
As a young boy I absolutely idolised Ivan Mauger.
I'm 62 yrs "old" now.
The greatest
One of the best Speedwaydrivers......
As a young Newcastle Diamonds fan, always knew he would be a world champion one day. Had some titanic battles with Charlie Monk and Ivor Brown. Loved those days when rolling at the tapes was allowed!! He was a master.

I Met him and he autographed his book for me lovely man great rider before my home but he was amazing
King
I remember how my dad would always talk about how Mauger was the greatest he had ever seen. I only got to see him in fall of his career where there was only glimpses of the greatness.
One small correction or add-on to the information in the video. Tony Richardson has also won 6 world titles and thereby tied Mauger. However Mauger was the first to reach that mark.
Mauger won World titles in the old format, with the grand prix Mauger would have won more.
@@tonys6759 I believe that if you were to include those other "Grand Prix" format wins, the total comes to 10 World Titles for Ivan Mauger.
@@frenzalrhomb6919 I'm sure he would....great days and great riders in every team.
