A true master musician and a wonderful person
John is one of my favourite bass guitarists of all time. What a gent and legend he is
*Is* :)
Bassist, not bass guitarists

One among great artists who can really be a teacher. Thank you John!
Both John Patitucci and Brian Bromberg are what I'd call 'TOTAL BASS players' equally at home on upright acoustic or electric guitar and sound authentic and swinging at all times.
I like this lesson
Good clarity in explaining the lesson. Great technique and musicality. I notice the right hand muting and left hand position efficiency. Eye-opening to me as a novice bass player as something I need to work on. Thanks
what a master. and we get to peek into his genius! Thank you John!!!! I've been a great fan for decades!!!!
Truly, a Bass wizard. Go JOHN!!!!!
I love to listen John Patitucci. it's all that he does is so amazing!
4:33 ~ 5:37 solo
Great bass player and sublime work. This was not a lesson but illustration of his talent.
That's classy walking bass. Thanks, John.
Fantastic bass line...I love it... Thanks for sharing mr. Patitucci...
John’s the man.
Awesome tone and playing, Sir!
I got turned on to JP on Natalie Cole's Orange Colored Sky. Coolest walking base line I've ever heard.
love the solo esp , less is more , I get so nervous with solo's thinking I need to go manic , but that is so beautiful , well done there !
He s so amazing
Beautiful!!!
Loved it John!
Carrot Top Not ridiculous, Top. One could study it as a “set piece”. We all know John is great and this is great set of lines and approaches to an F blues. One of the things I like about bassist John Goldsby is that he will transcribe his lines and yes, it takes abit of paper- but it’s a great study, learning all these improvisational phrases.
That prerecorded piano track was awesome
Making it look so easy!
@John P...always a fan and congrats on getting/staying in shape! :o)
Cool.
I have been taking lessons from Paul Gilbert Since October I think. I dig em.
I had a bass I never played. I just randomly got a Fender Acoustic electric and a Rouge fretless. I have been paying them and loving it.
Gilbert told me to tap my foot when I play guitar. I try, but it throws me off. haha I have been playing guitar since I was like, 10, so it has been a bit over 20 years. But, I recorded myself playing my new bass and my foot was working like a runway girl. haha
I will take lessons from this guy.
I look very forward to it.
I recommend classes on Artistworks to anyone who wants to learn for the first time or to those who have played for years and just want a great structured way to learn more.
Maestro!
Awesome video, Love this lesson, thank you so much.
Great !!
COOL
What effects are you using for the upright fiddle sound? Please Thank you
how do you fix the neck on the bass guitar I think it's something with the truss rod
Con este video me acabo de dar cuenta que Patitucci siempre ha sido más contrabajista que bajista. Todo el estilo del contra está aplicado al bajo eléctrico. Por eso su estilo único y perrísimo además.
I enjoyed this video very much; moreover, I like the tail end of the turnaround (sharp 5 down to 5). My instructor taught me that turnaround where you go (4 up to 5). Also you could hit (sharp 1) before you go back to the tonic to begin the whole passage again.
+Brandyn James I am very much a novice when it comes to walking bass but as I understand it you can approach any chord change with either a semitone above or a semitone below the root of the 'new' chord.
I'm very "green" myself in the realm of walking bass. My instructor taught me a couple of lines over bebop dominant scales in F and Bb.
Thanks
best blues ever
he seems to be playing an upright bass in deed; he's brilliant
Dang, I hope I can do a fraction of this one day.
I missed what he played during his solo, too many people were talking...
;-)
John, this is the same Curriculum as the Double bass program or 2 two different things?
greetings from Chile.
+Marcelo Cordova it's a different set of lessons for bass guitar, but available to all his online students
Apart from being one of the greatest players ever to grace this great instrument, the bass, his big ole hands seem physically designed to play.
if you think hes the best, check out joe dart on bass. that dude is a ledgend
eggtwerp Cheers. I certainly will.
Dart's an amazing player, but he's got nothin on Patitucci
His…. Tiny hands?
which model of Yamaha he used ? Thanks.
Hello Somebody knows which model Yamaha Bass guitar is in John's hands???? Thanks in advance!
Yamaha BB1024X or BB2024X
2:21
Good
That Yamaha sounds great.
Do you know the model?
@@JohnnyBritishEnglishClasses it’s a yamaha bb1024x, i think they don’t sell those anymore
What model name is that Yamaha bass?
had anyone the tab of this blues ?

5:28
4:32 solo
нонче ямаха делает мьюзикмэны?
Cooler than a body on ice....great.
does he use the 3 fingers all the time ? Seems cool.
He's only paying with 2
He uses 3rd to mute the strings he's not playing
What Yamaha model bass is that?
+Walter Goldstein Yamaha BB2204X it looks like. It could be the 1024X but likely it's the model higher up from that.
2024 X
John that is a nice hollow body 6string is it Yamaha and where can I get one? Great lesson also!!!
I like it but what is the lesson? How to watch John play walking bass lines???
+FclefDweller john plays with a great sense of arrangment within his lines , playing walking mixed with the melody in the first and second chorus . it is up to you to see how it is done up close . this is a front row ticket with a clear visual perception on how this music is played . use your eyes and ears . . . . cheers and keep playing !
Yes I guess I can agree. I suppose this is how it has been done especially with Jazz.
+FclefDweller personally , i've transcribed all the walking parts and i'm working on getting the right rhythmn and fingerings now . after that i'll transcribe the solo and really listen what he plays against the piano and so on . . . i guess i will spend a week or more checking this clip out for more information that i can get out of it . . . keep playing !
Well said.
you are the schiznick!
Looks like the only transcription is the Head, on PDF. Would be nice and rather generous if not altruistic - to have the full video transcribed and linked. It would draw us into the other lesson material. My opinion, only. Thx.
Transcribe it yourself lol
+CruelLion7 Go away- Cruel dude. Reading is faster. Time is limited. New advances in Transcription graphics are NOW the thing.
transcribe it yourself.
+CruelLion7
on to the next video. time is money.
GOOD!' :D

👌🏿👌🏿👌🏿♥️👊🏿👊🏿
i got intrigue that the lead guitarist from dream theatre was doing a bass tutorial. then ohhh. . . . anyways good lesson indeed.
or the lesson is a demo !!!
plus jazz than blues
It doesn't appear you are resting your thumb on the pickup...interesting, but I guess to each his own..it still sounds good
+Dalton Heitmann that's really a bad habit to get into, and difficult to break away from. If it's resting in one place the whole time you play, you have to move your right hand out of position as you move up the strings, and you end up moving your whole arm to switch strings (pivoting around your thumb) instead of just moving your hand down.
+Bees Knees lol
Gus?
it would be great if u could hear the bass line over the loud ass piano.
Daniel Hartle invest in better headphones perhaps?
The thing I noticed is he uses a lot of open strings!

I would rather hear this on double bass with that great fretless tone
Look, no slapping.
Worst video ever if you're a dyslectic Petrucci fan, otherwise nice and explanatory.
I was confused at first...
Most confusing comment ever if you're a dyslectic Patitucci fan
the dude has lost his way... never mind
Hahahaha very funny! I've had the same exact issue going the other way
@Tom Cass He's saying this is the worst if you were a dyslexic looking for a John Petrucci video and instead you got a John Patitucci video
Daddy.
I can hardly hear the bass, the piano is too loud in the mix for a bass lesson.
+Alan Howell You need better speakers or headphones because I hear it loud and clear.
Snot in the troat I hate that
The three J, Jaco, Jeff and John
КСТАТИ. говнобас
no,not,hero getting old
He's the petrucci of bass
No, he's the Pat Metheny of bass
Fudge..Im lost, totally lost.... And Thanks God no stupid triplets slap popping just smooth walking from each instruments.
It's not really a lesson, is it?
Anything can be a lesson with the right mindset
Designating a certain thing and no other ; particular : this not precise location from Patitucci as performance ( some time in bass solo) very strange to do that like amateur bass player, from excellent bass player !...
This whole thing sounds like shit to me, i call it "nothing music" no emotions, just something on the background while Im eating my dinner in a restaurant
