- This video is about a plugin called mvMeter2 which is a great addition to any digital audio workstation (DAW) and particularly GarageBand. It provides excellent metering capabilities needed for producing professional quality music and voiceovers.
I would like to thank Colin Cross who has a CZcams channel called The Band Guide who introduced me to mvMeter2 and its use as well as providing a lot of very good information on music production in general and GarageBand in particular. Below are links to his channel and his video showing how to use mvMeter2.

Thank you for this video explanation.
Great video, John!
Glad you think so!
Another good use for mvMeter2 is for setting make-up gain in compressors. Putting mvMeter2 after the compressor set to meter Peak Standard and the compressor bypassed one can get the peak level going into the compressor. Then with the compressor engaged one can get the amount of make-up gain required to match the compressor peak output level to the peak level of the signal going into it. Since the quieter parts of the signal are boosted this can result in the track sounding louder and this can be compensated for in the mix to make the track sit right.
There is a recently released new version which has support for Apple silicon and GPU. It looks a little bit different but does the same and works fine here on my M1 iMac. The link for the download is above in this video's description.
MVMETER2 LINK DOESNT WORK....IS THERE ANOTHER PLUG IN I COULD USE THAT WORKS SIMILAR
