My dad would play this in the car all the time when I was a kid. We somehow forgot about it for years and only today did it pop into his mind. I will not be letting that happen again, this is one of the most beautiful songs I've ever heard and they're from my province to boot!
Finally I could find a song I´ve been searching for over 25 years, which I first heard in a radio program when I was in the University. Thanks a lot! BTW, the reel isn´t irish but scotish. Orinally known as "Andy Renwick's Ferret". So better imagine scotish soldiers ;)
Hey! Just to let you know , these guys are brothers & sisters that live in a very small town in ontario. I take dance lessons from Chrissie (keyboard) i have been dancing for 10 years , with chrissie for about 5 years , and i LOVE dancing to this song! My family is good friends with them, and my dad built donnels house! Who lives right near us! They are a great bunch! And throw great parties ;)
A half-hour ago we got back from their Christmas show in Markham. We see it every year, for Leahy puts on one of the most entertaining performances you will ever see. Because Markham is just around the corner from Lakefield (their home town), their performances here always include many of their engaging and talented children (this year they had 14 of them at the show), some perhaps as young as 4 or so. Even the youngest can step dance superbly. What a show!
This is my favorite group of all time. I've been to two of their shows. Had to wait four years in between for them to come back to my state. I bought the DVD and it took me a few times of watching it to realize at the end they are actually tapping the tune. Awesome!!!
Saw them over twelve years ago in Valleyfield Québec, they killed the audience, of course all the local Anglos were there but they made up about ten percent of the place, they just grabbed all of the french patrons by hard core no nonsence music that resonates and respected them.......great canadians.
I don't mind your opinions, but the irrelevant babbling shouldn't be there. If you're trying to sound smart, then you should spell really easy words correctly. If not then it doesn't matter to me.
Sorry, I know you posted this over two years ago, but, I'm just seeing it now. You are totally right about the babbling being unnecessary. However, you giving this person a hard time about spelling, is worse than this person misspelling things. And me calling you on this is no better either. Anyway, this video is awesome. And you suck.
You are correct. But there are two tunes being played on this track. The first composed by Andy Renwick. The second composed by Jerry Holland. No Irish whatsoever. This is Scottish music.

Yep, "Andy Renwick´s Ferret" is a traditional Scotish song I still try to play with my accordion😅
they grew up in my home town and have a farm here
I love those moments in which you discover new artists... And you turn out to love them.

Still a great song. And the captions are amusing.
This is not Irish music. It's Canadian-Scottish
Um. No. They are Canadian by nationality, yes, but their roots are Irish.

Don't music OK bro
I think you put the bass much too lood. It ruins the violon.
