Petition for Poly to make a Spotify playlist of all the songs he covers
Just do it yourself! 😂
Hell yeah
Most of these songs should be in your collection.
Go listen to one of his 3 albums a playlist doesn’t really make sense for consistent good artist for one hit wonders
I'll make one and post the link here in a bit !
having to interactively sync up voodoo chile myself mightve made this all the more impressive, it says a LOT about polyphonic’s writing and timing and it’s beautiful!
It’s as beautiful of a piece of art as voodoo Chile
i agree
That was fucking cool. I got it to sync perfectly and it was awesome. Knowing that it was two different sources in sync, being able to adjust the volume levels to taste, gave the experience this frission it definitely wouldn't have had if the music had been normal background.
Probably not easy for folks on mobile, but whatever with them. :D
Howd did you know how to sync it
@@datboipaco1422 Followed the instructions! Found the track in Spotify and double-clicked on it when the countdown timer hit zero.
Woah! Colville watches Polyphonic? That's totally wizard.
Agreed! I could get the volume just right and follow along while I adjusted. If you’ve got the resources and space to enjoy it that way, it really is nice!
I managed to perfectly sync it up with the the Voodoo Child (slight return) and managed to PERFECTLY do it slightly wrong :)
I loved this! Played the track on vinyl. It really enhanced the experience.
Bet
Same. I didn't nail it, but pointing out the solos was a cool touch. Didn't know it was Jack Casady.
yeah i somehow just managed to have mine be timed perfectly
This was simply epic! Really, the editing, the info, the music (that I played accordingly to your instruction), damn. Forget about playthroughs or pointless blogs/vlogs, this is the true quaility content we deserve. Congrat, man. I'll hit you at patreon as soon as I can!
I couldn't agree more.
I wouldn't say "deserve", but we are blessed nevertheless to have people making videos like this. Hell yeah dude.
The sync up was spot on, would love more of this type of video if CZcams won’t let you play the song!
Exactly! THIS should be the practice going forward. If the labels/artists/families wanna get greedy they can get my $.0002 from the spotify pool rather than trying to rob these guys making great content.
Jimi’s Cherokee grandmother had one of the best quotes about Jimi I’ve ever heard. She said,” Jimi took the Southern Delta Blues to Saturn.” She ain’t wrong.
He’s got a posthumous album called South Saturn Delta, check it out
I've been watching this channel since pretty much the beginning, and this video is definitely your masterpiece. I played it with the song really loud, immersed in the soundscape complemented by your visuals and with the commentary just cutting through the mix when the song gets quieter. It was a great experience.
HOW IS THIS CONTENT FREE
Having to sync the track myself definitely enhanced the experience ad made your amazing work even more noticeable.
Good job man, keep up the awesome work
This worked out really well with the self-syncing. A very smart, engaging, and creative way to get past the content-stifiling tendencies of YT.
Sync it up. Absolutely worth it.
Seriously though, I have been effusive in my praise before but damn Poly, this is simply a phenomenal experience. You are so eloquent and poetic in your essays and I can't help but come away with a new appreciation of the song/artist because of how insightfully you've talked about them, even loving them before I walk away loving them even more. One of my favourite and best content producers on CZcams.
Listening to the song alongside this video was a genuinely powerful experience. Your editing skills are astonishing, keep it up!
Very creative! Let's see more of these. Beatles, Stones, Led Zeppelin. All of these are notorious blockers.
okay but the sync is perfectly timed. i've heard "voodoo chile" countless times so i was so shocked how much the video synced up while playing it. i almost forgot i was playing it through spotify, not through this video. like when the lyrics in the video synced up it was wild, but when you mentioned the guitar solos and instrumental breaks etc at the exact time it was wild
the interactive part of this video really made me realize the huge amount of effort put into these videos, and it almost made this whole thing feel like a fun course or activity you would see at a music museum, its so beautiful!
The way me playing the song on spotify heightened the experience dramatically, it was almost if you were invoking Hendrix to play, the solos began right when you mentioned them. well done!
Mixing this with spotofiy is so cool, something different from usual. Man you just know how to make your videos unique, it goes together so good (specially that the guitars are panned and you are talking in the middle ) + you don´t need to be afraid of dmca :D
For me, this tune has always been THE ultimate guitar tone. From the first notes, it's powerful yet relatively clean. Then he dials it up and it's searing and dripping with sustain. It's one of the greatest performances ever.
the experience when you said he added the sound of his audience clapping, oh fuck... in the song people were clapping in song (played on Spotify) idk why but this amazing; made the hair on my neck stand up. I couldn't hear much, but te feeling I got listening to him playing was... I don't know how to describe it it took me to another dimension, idk if u understand it but it did.
sir...this is a god damn MASTERPICE. the editing plus the music in the background {as you instructed}
were amazing.
a wonderful video. keep that up!
I watched this video along with the song as suggested, while high, and it started thundering almost immediately as the song began playing. Best youtube experience I’ve had
It synced up perfectly. Nice job! Hendrix is sadly fading to all but a few music nerds, because of the short sighted estate that blocks these kinds of visual love letters to the man and his music.
I don't know what really happened, but this video (after following the instructions and playing the song along) literally just snapped me out of a depressive episode. Holy shit this was one of the greatest things I've seen and heard.
TBH, I really liked this interactive format.
On another topic: I love to see all of the places that Steve Winwood pops up. Any thought in doing a video on him?
Great job!!!
We need this.
The greatest guitarist that ever lived, may he Rest In Peace.
💘
Amen.
Mitch Mitchell would be a household name if he wasn't overshadowed by playing for the literal best guitarist ever.
I'm bginning 2 blieve, there r those out there, n power, dat wished 2 hurt Mitchell, 4 having da audacity 2 play bhind a SO CALLED black man. SINce they viewed it azz a waste of talent, they wanted 2 make sure, dat he'd git no accoladeZZZzzzzzz. Therez no otha reason, I can c Mitch, being so obscurred!
That was amazing - loved the interactivity, and your editing was on point! Truly one of, if not your best videos so far. Well played, sir.
Greatest Guitarist of all time, can't change my mind
I don't even try man
SRV and Hendrix were equals I just like SRVs style tone and voice more
Totally agree! Yes there are amazing guitarists who are both his contemporaries and others who followed after his death, but Jimi Hendrix is the complete package.
@@mr.mustang656 stevie didn’t make albums like Jimi tho and Jimi was doing it before playing the guitar like that was even normal the god father of distortion
@@h3ck774 Jimi would have been better if the albums had higher production quality, i just dont like how bad the production quality is thats what really makes srv albums better to me
This video style is REVOLUTIONARY
you've just made a literal lifeline to every music/film channel giving the fans of each channel a REAL role beyond like and subscribe BS
Just wow. I had chills listening to the song, while watching your amazing visuals and spot on commentary. Literally got the goosegumps the whole way through. Hope you do more of these!!
Kinda glad the sync happened, the song wasn't compressed through youtube. and the sync made it even more impressive
The long version builds to such a massive wall of sound it is truly one of the greatest musical experiences in history
You've done it, polyphonic. That's the best music video essay I've ever experienced.
Even though I know full well that you built your video around the song, simply having it play on my phone as I watch your video on the TV and having everything match up so well was just so magical.
absolutely great video, with the right audio on a streaming site the video works perfectly like you wanted
Watching with the song playing provokes almost an eery feeling of presence. Extremely well done as always!
I got it synced perfectly and was just impressed how everything flowed perfectly.
I loved the interactive aspect to this video! really impressive how you turned something that was an inconvenience to something different and interestingly new.
This is fantastic, man. Had to get the song on in the background and I'm amazed at how perfectly paced your script is, never leaving dead air in the longer sections and never rushing to get everything you want to say in there when the song gets a little more intense. Great work dude.
So happy someone finally makes a video about this, the entire album is worth a listen, it's refreshing to hear someone else's prospective on this song
That was honestly soooo good I actually join Patreon...
We need more of this. This is one of your best videos ever!
I love this one. I love the content and the format. Would love to hear the whole rest of the album this way.
This was amazing! Your passion for music and Hendrix really shone through here, great work! Syncing up to Voodoo Child was the cherry on top.
I gotta applaud this idea. This was genuinely a new experience for me after 14 years on CZcams.
I actually really enjoyed that! Getting out the record and timing it with your countdown, and then seeing the first words come up right as he sings them....it was a weird experience but made the whole thing more engaging for sure. I think you should do more of these for content blockers, that was fun!
Hendrix is my favorite artist and the vids you make on him are the only breakdowns I’ve found that really do him justice. Thank you for making these.
The sync experience is amazing! I played the track on my 5.1 speakers and the video on my phone. The result was having the the music engulfing the video. Great work man. The video is amazing as always.
I've been watching these videos for years. This is by far, the best video in a catalogue of great videos. Well done team!
This song makes me wanna cry and shiver from the first second till the very end every time I hear it. Thank you for your content!
I actually loved this format. You should do more of these in additional to your regular format. I didn't think it could but this channel just got even better.
This was fantastic. How the video and the music lined up underlines how fantastic your timing is in these videos. I can't imagine how much effort you must have put into making it seem that effortless, but however long it took, it was worth it. Keep it up!
I went over to Nebula and watched it. This is just incredible. Thanks for reminding me of the first time I listened to this song as an 80s teenager sitting in slack-jawed wonderment.
this was the best piece of content I have ever experienced on YT!!!! and syncing up the song myself pulled me in even more! thank you so much for this incredible experience and I hope you can create more interactive content like this in the future!!!
This works extremely well, ur words hit with the rhythm and it's insane editing, props to you.
It synced up perfectly
This is fantastic, thank u
The interactivity was fun! I agree with other commenters, I didn't mind having to play the song myself. Your videos are so amazing and beautiful, it was really cool to have it pointed out how much you think about every single frame. I think syncing the music ourselves just made it more obvious how much work goes into this.
Nice sync with the track, awesome interaction, great video as always!
this was so fun. Also the sync was absolutely perfect, great vid!
Man! This was awesome, thank you! Such a ride, the commentary was on point.
Hell yeah dude. All of your insights about Hendrix are so well-written.
The sync up idea was amazing. I loved it.
Keep it up
Syncing up the song and this video brought me back to trying to sync Dark Side of the Moon with Wizard of Oz. YT blocking songs brings this new interactive element which was fun to do. A blessing in disguise.
Merged so well, I almost forgot the song wasn't in the video! Would gladly watch more of these, with or without the music in the videos
Loved the interactive element of this video. This was super cool. Thanks
The interactivity idea is great. I nailed the sync and it played along perfect. 10/10
I synced this up with Spotify and it worked perfectly. Thank you for helping me appreciate the song even more
LOVEEE!!! it synced perfectly, coolest thing ever
Fantastic vid! Lines up immaculately!
Absolute genius idea...one of your best videos so far. Again, the sync worked perfectly for me and really added to the visuals 👍👍👍. Excellent work 😊
The sync up was spot on, what an amazing experience. Thank you so mich
Utterly masterful, I sometimes need to remind myself that content this good is free (besides just a little bit of finessing my music player to get this particular vid in sync, which I don't really mind at all)
Polyphonic you are a master. Nobody does this type of video like you. The way you incorporated the music into it (sorry it couldn't be how you wanted, but it worked for me!) was absolutely fantastic.
Seriously, your work is beyond great, but this one was simply mind-bogglingly fabulous. Words cannot describe how I much I loved this one. Bravo!
Synced perfectly, awesome work!
love these kinds of videos... I think you hit upon something special here poly, wonderful job. does this format only work with longer songs though? would love to see one for A Day in the Life
im not gonna lie....this was the best video ive watched on youtube ever, and the fact that it was about my favourite musician just added to it
Excellent!
Worked like a charm! Great job, dude!
Absolutely BEAUTIFUL PIECE! Jimi is the reason I picked up
a guitar 44 years ago man! Thank you for this fine exploration! ^..^
Jimi is the man. He was and still is 🎸.
Love this video man, great work 👑
Finally got a chance to check this out along with the song and it worked great. Well done, as usual. I totally agree that this is one of Hendrix's best songs, and Winwood's performance is fantastic. Thanks!
That was actually a _REALLY_ cool way to pair music and video. I ran the music through my main stereo, cranked, and had the narration on my iPad. I paid such close attention to everything because I wanted to see if I synced things up right with your video. This was actually really fun! More of this, I say!
The modern musician that, for me, captures Hendrix's vibe the most is Fantastic Negrito. The man is legendary. He had a coma and partially lost the movement of a hand (that he now calls it "The claw"). And his song "Lost in a Crowd" shows how he felt after recovering from the coma. Definitely recommend everyone to give him a listen
I love this so much, you really need to do this background song pairing more often. This video is truly one of the greats of youtube and analysis on rock history. I commend you and your work, nobody takes the deep dives that I'm looking for with rock music like you do.
Love this format! Would love to see you do this kind of video more often. Maybe one of the longer pieces by Bob Dylan? Or maybe selections from jazz like Bitches Brew?
This new style of video is truly mesmerising, I'm almost addicted to it. Keep up the good work!
amazing video and really well done with the syncing!
I ALWAYS learn something from your videos. Thanks for fantastic content!
Very clever workaround and amazing editing. I think having to push play at exact moment underscores the editing efforts and creates appreciation for the work put into this.
What a legendary guitarist 🔥🤘🏼 🎸
i mean just... Woah
like... every single moment in my life brought me to being recommended to this video
and since fortunately for me i own a copy of this truly Historic album, playing on my speakers
The way your video synchronized the lyrics popping up with Voodo Chile playing on the CD
The way you mentioned the boundless talent of each musician just before they showed what they were all about with their instruments
This was not an ordinary youtube video, this was an experience!
Yeah so you had to remove the music from your video, but you still went on so as to not displease your audience. And look what the audience gained! Your video oozed authenticity and creativity to the point where it was more than just a visual representation of information. It was a whole experience man!
When one door closed, another opened.
Thank you for this experience Polyphonic, you have earned yourself a subscriber yet you are deserving of thousands more!
This is a PERFECT video when paired with the music
Goosebumps with the song playing along...
Man, this was breathtaking. This is my favorite channel and this is a masterpiece! I almost made an error playing voodoo child slight return instead of voodoo chile. And surprisingly, at least in the beginning, they are also synched up!
this is awesome, playing the song in the background makes it feel really magical!
i discovered jimi when i was 15 and made me love guitar to this day you captured that love
Great video and the sync-up worked really well. 👍
Beautifully done, man! Got the sync right... wonderful
this video is perfect! loved the twist with the song
The quality of your videos are in the top of CZcams. This was one was incredible
ngl, I really enjoyed this even with having spotify open while doing it. I think I liked the interactive aspect of this video, but yeah, awesome job dude!
Apart from the mid-roll ad that forced a restart on the operation, this was fricken amazing! I'd recommend about 60-70% Spotify volume with full CZcams volume so the loud parts don't overrun the commentary
I actually really enjoyed the fact that I could put in the music - thanks in part to the Hendrix Estate - but it give something kinda magic to this experience. Great job, as usual!
