    Like you said in your other video, this weapon is great for anyone but more especially those people that are on a tight budget and need a firearm for home defense or a carry gun for personal protection. A person could purchase one of these and a hundred rounds of ammo and get some good practice in and not break the bank. Let's be real, the g2c is more than adequate for any reason anyone would need a weapon. Thanks for the update!

    • @2aEdu
      @2aEdu  Před 5 lety +1

      Yes. It gives poor or people on a budget a viable option. Certainly a lot better than a Hipoint, in my opinion. In most everyday situations a handgun like the G2C would be adequate, but a rifle is also an important tool that is needed for many things too. Thanks for watching.

    • @KWright8754
      @KWright8754 Před 4 lety +5

      You compared it to a hi-point, when you should be comparing it to a Glock. I own both and prefer the G2c to my 26. Absolutely nothing like a pos hi-point.

    Really fair and comprehensive video. I agree that the problem probably is what you think concerning the perfect storm of steel case, finish, and spring tension. With the two stock mags the gun comes with, I’ve shot at least 500 rounds of brass through them without a single failure. I really like this gun. Thanks for the cover.

    I got a G3 and G3C. Replaced the firing pin spring on both. Replaced the front sight on the G3 with a fiber optic. Replaced the sights on the G3C with tritiums. Replaced the trigger on the G3C with a Galloway. Not a huge improvement but it is better. Did polish the trigger bar with some 1000 grit valve grinding compound when I was in there. Both are decent guns. Been carrying the G3C to town and the G3around the farm. I have confidence in both.

    You probably already know this, but I'll state it for those who don't already know it. Using the slide release to let the slide slam forward with no round being loaded into the chamber from the magazine is a bad practice and will damage the firearm. You did this several times in this video without mentioning the fact that it is a mistake, and you didn't advise your viewers not to do it, so at the risk of being redundant, I thought I would bring it up. Also, on the g2c, that little trigger glitch that feels like the dingus is "hanging up" a little is actually from your pull on the trigger being slightly off to the left or the right and not "straight back". The g2c is a good little gun and I hope yours proves to be an asset to you.

    Nice gun. I have the PT111 and the G2C versions. I replaced the plastic striker guide in the PT111 with a Lakeline steel striker guide. Smoothed out the trigger nicely. Also no longer concerns with the "key" lock as it no longer engages. I got Xgrip spacers for my Sig 18 rd mags (fairly cheap off FleaBay). Now it's my "truck gun" and the G2C is my back up and for fun off the cabin deck.

    • @2aEdu
      @2aEdu  Před 5 lety +2

      I know what you mean, but I think calling it a SA/DA is also correct. But in the end, the trigger pull is always pretty good, unless re-striking, which makes it a heavy double action. Its all a matter of wording, but I think we both know what the other one means. lol. Thanks for watching.

    There was a youtuber that made a video back on 2018. He was showing how his magazine works well and its because you need leave a full mag for at least an hour before you shoot a new mag. My my p226 18 round on my g2c runs well. Im suspecting its because I had the mag loaded and ready for anything a few days before I went to the range. ..He proved it with 32 round promag that is known for jamming in g2c.

    My wife and I just got one and shot it for the first time. We shot 2 different types of FMJ ammo and at least 6 types of hp ammo. We used the 2 factory mags that came with the pistol. No malfunctions what so ever and accuracy was good. Your problem is absolutely with the mag spring. I would never consider a plus 2 extension, especially without a stronger spring. If you want or need more ammo, carry more mags or a different handgun.

    • @2aEdu

    So did some more testing on my G2C and all 100% feeds and good groups. The issues was the tight tolerance of the slide and frame. Working it dry and then with oil did the trick . This is a massively high production firearm and at roughly $200 it’s not a S&W , Glock, or Sig. it’s a fantastic budget 9mm that I chose because I could not justify over $500 for the new Hellcat. I mean , my total out of pocket with IWB is less than $240. That’s true budget CC.👍

    Enjoyed your G2C reviews. Liked and subscribed. I agree with the assumption that the problem is with the Mec-Gar 20 round mag. Glad you were fair on the assessment. Fyi, I had the same experience contacting Taurus support yesterday. They are still having problems recognizing serial numbers. Did you notice on the website that Taurus moved the Taurus US HQ to southwest Georgia? The rep I talked with was very helpful, taking my info for registration and the Cash & Carry rebate.
    I've been a Taurus owner for about 25 years, first with a PT 99 and later a PT92. Since then I have purchased an M85 revolver, a Millennium PT111 G2, a Tracker 627 357 magnum and now the new G2C. In 25 years I've had zero problems. The PT99 was made in 1986 and was one of the early pistols made on Beretta machines and with former Beretta workers.

  • @RedeemedXGrace
    @RedeemedXGrace Před 5 lety +1

    About the slide release. What locks the slide back, is the magazine follower when it runs out of ammo. The follower "pushes" the slide catch up. This locks the slide in the rear position. So... when you still have rounds in the magazine, the follower obviously has no contact with the slide catch. In this case. When you try to push the slide release, it is fairly easy, because you are only releasing the slide. But if you push the slide release when the magazine is empty, then you are pushing against the magazine spring that is pushing the follower up, plus the normal friction you have to release the slide. That is why its harder when you have an empty magazine inserted. If you have no magazine inserted, then you are not pushing the slide release against anything but the slide. I hope this helps.

    I think your spot on about the 20rd mag. I have shot 147gr that have huge hollow points with no problems, they actually seem to have less felt recoil (not as snappy) than 115gr. go figure... only change i made was replacement of the striker sleeve which made no difference in function. I think highly of the g2c and would recommend it, considering i'm no fan of the wonder 9s that's saying something.

  • @SEAKPhotog
    @SEAKPhotog Před 5 lety +3

    I enjoyed your G2C vids. I've got both a PT111 G2 and and just rec'd G2C (for $175 shipped after rebate, it was a no brainier). I haven't had a chance to shoot the G2C yet but I kinda love the PT111. Like you, I find the ergos terrific and the 12 round capacity in a small package is very nice. I ended up replacing the trigger with an SAO trigger from keep tinkering and also replaced the striker guide with a stainless steel version. Those changes really helped the trigger situation. With the new G2C I might just leave it stock for a while and see how it breaks in. The PT111 has over 1000 rounds of everything but Tula thru it. Lots of aluminum, lots of brass, 115gr, 124gr, 147gr, mostly FMP but enough JHP to feel good that eats everything I'll throw at it. I believe I've had one FTF/FTE in all those rounds and I was practicing shooting left handed and may have limp wristed it or dragged the slide. I certainly hope the newer G2C runs as well. As for accuracy, for me it's fine out to 30ft which is all I'm expecting out of it. On the PT111 I did need to tighten the front and rear sights after a little shooting so that may need some attention... Anyway keep reporting back on the your G2C experience. For the money I really think Taurus hit a home run. I guess one open question is durability but hell, for less than $200 shipped, I'm not expect a lifetime of problem free use but who knows? Oh and one disappointment with the G2C compared to the PT111 is that the barrel of the PT111 is polished while the G2C is more dull. Just cosmetic but hey, the PT111 does look a little more classy/expensive with the polished barrel. Cheers!

      @@BenzParts123 Hi, I bought the iron sights, SS striker guide and recoil spring/guide rod assembly from Lakeline LLC. Recoil assembly was $28, iron sights $30, striker guide $17. Of those the only one I think is a must is the striker guide to smooth out the action a bit. The iron sights were just for fun and durability - the stock sights work just fine and the rear is easily adjustable. The stock recoil assembly is fine too. I just bought the SS version to see if it made any difference (no, not really in shooting but I did just experience a handful of FTEs for the first time - could be the mag or ammo or could be the new SS recoil assembly - need to figure that out). The trigger from keeptinkering - $25 or $35 I think - is great. A must have for sure. I bought one of his SA triggers. It helps the gun shoot like it's much more expensive. I was blown away. A note on the trigger tho - the one I installed on my PT111 went on easily with zero issues. Just yesterday I tried to install the same type trigger on my newer G2C and ran into fit problems which I think will require some sanding of the trigger. In the meantime I just removed the safety dingus from the original trigger and reinstalled it for a smoother action. And I noticed the G2Cs internals don't look as smooth/polished or well fitting as the PT111 so I might at least take some pieces and polish them a bit. Nothing I can do about the fit really. Oh, I did email the keeptinkering guy and he promptly replied and has offered some trigger fitting suggestions and further help if needed. Very cool of him. These guns are so inexpensive it's just fun to learn some basic gunsmithing and get used to messing around with a gun's internals. Hope that helps! And PS: I'm not really much of a tinkerer so if I can take this gun apart, install a trigger, and get it back together anybody can 😁

    In reference to the slide release being really stiff, mine was as still as yours. I got my G2C almost a year ago, almost 1.5k rounds through it. But the past month or so, it has loosened up a lot. Even without the mag. Very manageable and I'm left handed (really only use the release when cleaning/inspecting the gun).
