Nice job sir. However, when HCl is added to the residue and effervescence, colourless and odourless gas that turned lime water milky is observed, the expected inference ought to be CO2 gas is released from CO3 2-. HCO3- cannot be inferred as it won't give a residue since it dissolves. Remember all HCO3 salts are soluble in water.

The deep blue color is due to the cu2+ ion present in the solution. Cuso4 is the excess reactant in the solution.

When I added my CuSO4 to (NH4)2CO3, I got a clear colourless filtrate i.e. (NH4)2SO4 and a light green residue i.e. CuCO3.
