Is a Deep Plane Facelift Worth It? | Dr. Jonathan Sykes

  • drjonathansykes.com/ -- The worth of a deep plane facelift really depends on the patient and how much they want an improvement. When it comes to aesthetic surgery, you could potentially ask if any procedure is worth it? Aesthetic surgery on the face is not a need, but rather it’s a want. My goal is to determine what the patient wants corrected or improved, and accomplish that in the best way possible leaving my patients very satisfied.

So when asked if it’s worth it, that’s for the patient to decide. However, from my perspective, I would say that the deep plane facelift procedure is the single best procedure to rejuvenate the face, to make the face look more refreshed, and to make it look younger.
How painful is a deep plane facelift?
Most of my patients who have had a deep plane facelift have pain the night of surgery and a little bit of pain the next day. However, after about two days, a vast majority of my patients are off of their narcotic pain medicine. They may take one pill, but they’re almost off of the narcotic pain medicine entirely and instead prefer taking acetaminophen Tylenol only.
How much does a deep plane facelift cost?
I charge about $22,000 to $25,000 in Beverly Hills for a deep plane facelift when done alone and without any other procedures. Many of my patients add an eye lift, brow lift, rhinoplasty, and/or chemical peel to the procedure which significantly affects the cost. When you look at the best surgeons in Beverly Hills, I’m a little on the inexpensive side.

I just had a deep plane face lift and neck lift 9 days ago. He is exactly right about the pain for about 36 hours. After that, more of a discomfort and Tylenol is plenty. Mine was done by an experienced, double board certified facial plastic surgeon/otolaryngologist. Here in Austin Texas, including the anesthesiologist, the total cost was $11,000. Price can vary tremendously by location.

@@faizparween6403 I can honestly say that the first 36 hours I had only moderate pain. After that, I have had minimal discomfort. I had a lot of tightness. I was very worried prior to the surgery about being able to swallow or a feeling of not being able to breath. I was completely wrong about that. None of the tightness effected my esophagus or trachea so there was no issue with swallowing or breathing, it was more of an external tightness. For me, most of my bruising was gone in the first 8 days. It has now been 18 days and I do have some swelling but it is to a point already that people who don’t know me well would not notice it. My neck and jawline look great and my face is looking good but not like anything obvious was done. No look of being pulled, very natural, just more youthful. I am stunned at how good my stitches already look. They are well hidden in and along the contours of my ears in the front and by my ears and hair behind the ear. I am in no pain at all. I have not even taken a Tylenol since about 5 days after surgery. Hope this helps. If you have found a board certified plastic surgeon you trust, talk over all of your concerns with them. My experience has been a very good one.

I just turned 70 and had neck and face deep plane lift. I used one pain pill on first night, then Tylenol for next 3. Neck feels rubbery and my throat is really sore along with voice raspy, which is apparently from the breathing tube. I hope that clears up and my voice box wasn’t damaged.

At age 62, I had upper and lower Blepharoplasty with fat transfer AND a deep plane face and neck lift for $25K. My surgeon is double-board certified in this work and he's masterful at it. I had an excellent recovery experience. I think I look at least 10 years younger, maybe more, and I could not be happier. Would I do it again? Yes! In had my surgery on July 12, 2022 in Latham, New York, USA by Dr. Edwin Williams.

I'm pleased to see that your surgeon's fee was reasonable too. I laughed out loud when I read that a famous NYC facelift surgeon was charging up to ten times more than you paid. Seriously, folks - excellent facelift surgery does not have to cost the same as a new Bentley. Those famous surgeons are ripping people off.

I am currently recovering from mid and lower facelift, neck lift and upper and lower eyelids. I choose a deep facelift due in large part to the long lasting natural effects. Research surgeons. My surgeon specializes in facial rejuvenation. He has his own surgical center. I have not experienced much pain at all. I am amazed. My only regret as I told my surgeon is that I didn't do it sooner

Deep planes are a lot more riskier. If you are not a skilled surgeon you could cause facial nerve damage. I had a SMAS FACELIFT done 11 days ago. My ears were very painful and I was very down for about 8 days. I turned the corner on day 10. I was not on heavy painkillers. My ears are still swollen but this is expected. I am on the mend. The good news is, my lower hanging face is now sitting on top 😁. My cheeks look much fuller and probably when swelling is completely gone, they will look more natural. I look 15 years younger. The outcome is totally dependent on the skill of the surgeon and the patients post op care.. Deep plane or SMAS. No regrets but done with cosmetic surgery. 😁

Suzi, there are risks associated with all surgical procedures. The important thing is to seek out a highly qualified board certified surgeon with a ton of experience doing face and neck surgery. There's no substitute for that.

Why are 95% of after photos of deep plane face lift procedures (regardless of the surgeon) shows MINIMAL results and most patients only look 5 yrs younger? Whereas, other forms of face lifts (using reputable surgeons) the results tend to remove 10 to 15 years younger appearance? Many deep plane face lift patient often look 80% the same as they did before. Out of all the after photos of deep plane face lifts are not that impressive vs other types of face lifts IN MY OPINION. There is an elephant in the room and no one is saying anything about it ! 🐘🐘🐘🐘

I think it depends on the everything else they have had done in conjunction with the face lift. If you get a face lift only and no fat grafting, or bleph or lip lift, the results might not look much better than their before pix. Everyone may not need those other procedures but if you are older, chances are that you do. And that’s because everything in the face has aged the same - not just the face alone. The goal is to keep the face in harmony. I’m no expert, but I have seen quite a few of these videos and before and after pictures. And this is what the experts are saying-

@@KChapman6079 , a cosmetic surgeon responded to my same question /comment on his channel. He said that no matter which type of face lift or procedure, whether it is a newer procedure or an older / earlier type of facelift. The experience and skill-set of the surgeon can make get better results than a newer method with less experienced hands or training. He said at the end of the day, who does your procedure will get the best desired results. Also, in my own conclusion, some methods are so "new" that most surgeons are "beginners" with new types of procedures UNTIL they perform them on LOTS of patients. Wow, I guess that's why they call it a medical "practice?" They are "practicing" on YOU ! 😶‍🌫️🤕😵‍💫
