Spot on! So much wisdom in one video. I've gone from 180 lbs (overweight) to 143lbs riding weight a long time back (Perhaps underweight). Got super fast, did some centuries. One thing I learned - the faster you get, the fewer friends you have and there's still always someone faster. You may start to leave your old friends behind to ride with the newer, faster group. It gets lonely at the top and I realized these new "friends" weren't really friends at all. They were nice, but not the "have your back" kind of friends. It's so much about the fellowship... I personally like getting folks out riding and excited about the sport. I've put some of that weight back on and have been riding less the last few years. I need to get back into it, just not that extreme, ultra competitive crap. But also true that 2 riders on the same road = race - great quote!
Good stuff! Thanks for sharing👍🏾
Not every ride is a RACE. I make my social group rides as a ZONE 2 training. Luckily there's a cheap criterium race in my area if I want go fast.
That's why I like MTB community. Best riders are still helpful and friendly, and the sense of comradery helps a lot.
Whew buddy, this comment hits home and has me in my feelings right now lol. Started riding with my best friend. I'm 205 lbs he's the ideal cyclist body at 135-140 lbs. He's surpassed me so much on the climbs because of my weight and is starting to ride with the top local dudes. We still ride but Jesus criminey I can barely keep up the dudes too fast for me anymore. Feel like I'm losing my riding buddy! Just keep on.
When riders aren't matched in fitness, the fast one can ride a slower bike such as a gravel bike with 45mm tires, or one with an internal geared hub like Alfine or Rohloff, a singlespeed, or a flat bar bike with gravel tires. The slower one can ride a fast road bike with deeper wheels if they have that or borrow from the fast one.
I like riding easy in the country and looking at the scenery on Sundays. It seems it's always hard riding all the time with friends. I tell them I like doing a solo on Sundays just to avoid the same ole balls to the wall riding.
Luis
I'm a 60-year-old man who is beginning to get back on a bike what advice do you have for seniors beginning to bike ride
@@alonzobattise952 My mother is in her upper 70s and I bought her a low step over bike when she thought it was over. My advice to her was start gradually and build into it slowly. She started one mile twice a week, Tues. and Thurs. Then a month later three times a week, added Sat. with three miles. She rode to hard and had to start over about a month later. After two years she is riding twenty miles a week. Her joint pain has almost disappeared. Key is don't overdo it because it takes a long time to heal over fifty. Stick with it my friend, it will add good years to your life I believe.
Absolutely. Variety on riding is good👍🏾
60 is relatively young. But depending on your fitness, just start slow and build up by increasing your mileage 20 to 30% weekly. Keep the intensity easy.👍🏾
@@thegoodwheel I wished I said that about fitness, I got a buddy that hardly ever has ridden a bike but has kept in shape all his life, he just started riding about six months ago and I mean he jumped in head first, he is averaging 18mph and is 65yrs old.
Awesome vid Luis, you got me choked up at the end as your passion for riding is intoxicating! When I turned 60 I decided to tone back my pace & stop hammering every ride & enjoy the ride & the people I’m riding with, at the same time staying strong & fit. For me riding, weight training, good diet & positive attitude is the secret to longevity, stay safe my friend!
Thank you Jim. I am right there with you on re-orienting your purpose for riding.👍🏾
You're a natural ambassador Luis - ride on!
Thank you!
You bring up some very good points, and they can save someone's life. There is no place for a sprint on a public highway with traffic in the next lane (3:28)!! EVER! If there's a crash, the pileup can easily spill over into the next lane and an oncoming car will just crush everyone to death. The most important thing you can do in a large group is think about the good safety practices. Learn to see an accident in the making, before it happens. When you see that people are doing dangerous stuff, just drop back and get out of there. If you want to sprint and race hard, sign up for a crit!!
Sound advice!
And take your friends with you, sometimes people get so caught up in these things, they don't even realize how insane what's happening actually is. Do it properly, don't endanger other riders, first rule of the game. Be predictable in public traffic. Also the first rule of the game because there is no freaking substitute for common sense and adhering to best traffic practices. No glory in watching the Giro from a wheelchair.
Its interesting to see people of all ages can be on the same sort of life journey at the same time in their life. Im 26 and quit smoking a few weeks ago, been focusing on diet and human connections. And man oh man do i feel the same way you did during the video. The amount of deep human connection ive experienced recently makes me emotional. Im so looking forward to a healthier snd brighter future! Cool how biking gets us to think about life holistically huh?
Reduction in bone density is a huge issue, especially for long distance cyclists. Studies have shown minerals actually leaching from the bones with long exercise sessions such as cycling. Thanks for mentioning this important concern.
I am glad to talk about these important issues👍🏾
long any sport, past aerobic.....i.e. more than 1 hour, is "bad" for health...it dissoves you from the inside out
Take supplements and a balanced diet is important. Calcium and vitamin K2 will reduce calcium loss.
Yea my biggest thing I want to contribute and change in cycling that doesn’t matter is the astronomical cost for bikes is not the ONLY option and love showing people how you can access riding at a fraction of the cost.
But also in this crazy time of division and hostility going on, I love that simply riding a bike can bring people together and heal one another.
So true my friend 👍🏾
I don't think showing tears is a "baby" at all; I think it's a human trait and many will respect you more because of it. Like you, I've learned that the connections we make with folks are always the memories that we remember. Yes. we remember that "great' day on the bike or a 'bad' day on the bike, but many other things or accomplishments on the bike get forgotten over time. The memories of meeting new people or riding partners are something that can last for a lifetime. Thanks for sharing!!
Thank you Jackie!
Bruh! Your channel showing up in my feed proves that the youtube algorithm works. Great video! Subscribed and looking forward to more.
Thanks Luis. I’m an old guy who cannot bomb along at 20+ mph anymore but I still love riding. I really enjoy your videos. You seem really practical and well grounded and your love of cycling shines through.
Thank you for your kind words. Keep riding! The speed is irrelevant 👍🏾
A really great video mate. Especially the one where you can’t ride without wearing “their gear”. That one is real BS!!
I love the call out of enjoying a different riding experience. This year was the first year I rode outside of south florida, first to Lake Tahoe which allowed me to experience climbing at elevation and bombing decents. Then I went to Las Vegas to do some mountain riding in the desert. Each palce not only did I have a diffent riding experience but also exposure to different riding cultures. I met awesome people that ride different bikes more suited to their environments. If people love the sport of cycling and I love all forms then leaving your comfort zone and heading someone new can reignite your love for the sport.
Can't wait to hear about that trip Bro!
Your content is always great and practical for the average cyclist. It really helped me progress from beginner to intermediate rather quickly. Thank you for what you do for the sport!
Hi Greg! Thanks for sharing👍🏾
As a mountain biker transitioning to road riding, this channeling is incredibly valuable. Thank you for providing an education on the etiquette of the road. I can’t begin to tell you how much i’ve learned from your instruction in the last six months. Keep up the good work.
Thank you Thomas! I am glad the content is helpful 👍🏾
You had me when you seemed to choke up mentioning putting people together. That is real, that is meaningful. I'm 66 and absolutely love riding solo in the country, it's my detox routine. I did my second gravel race and loved it, the sense of community was so strong and we had so much fun. Isn't that what cycling is all about......feeling like a kid again. Hello from a new subscriber and keep up the great work.
Hi Dave. Thank you for this post 🙏🏾
Great content, Luis! And always keeping it real!
Here in Montreal, I’ve noticed a move away from team kits or coordinated gear, although cycling clubs are obviously still coordinated.
One of my most memorable group rides started out as a solo ride from Cullera to Valencia, in Valencia province, Spain. Riders joined and dropped off over the 50km distance. Riding in a country where cyclists garner huge respect on the road is such a pleasure. Rode back to Cullera solo - into a headwind lol. 🚴🏾
That sounds like an epic day on the bike👍🏾
Your videos are super helpful - especially being a complete novice cyclist and getting on the trail and having some sense of etiquette thanks to said videos. Hopefully I'll be able to hang with the B group in a few months.
Sounds awesome! Let me know how you get on👍🏾
Enjoying the ride is a big thing. I really got started doing family and friends century rides. Then it was the Camino de Santiago. Riding in new and unknown places is great.
The Pilgrimage!
I enjoyed the video. I have osteoporosis and recovery from a hip pinning surgery and a wrist fracture. I had to change the way I ride. I just purchased a new bike. A Trek fx3 stagger. A blast to ride. Not fast but I am able to continue the joy of cycling. Life is better when you pedal🚲👍😁
Keep pedaling and enjoying what you can🙏🏾
100% with you, great insights! Wildling out in sprints like you show is definitely a trend I hope dies! And absolutely crushing ourselves with huge rides and leaving with a bad taste: also a total miss. I hope folks stop thinking they need to go mega in order to be worthy.
Yes, the mass sprints are just Krazy, really hazardous to all involved. The skill level involved in a all out sprint is lacking most the time. My husband goes out with old bmxers that have very evolved bike handling skills that make sporty riding safe and fun. They as a group have nothing to prove. So don't foget about the other guys out on their trials bikes.
bro im having a resurgence of fallin back in love with cycling n this vid is making realize why i fell in love
👍🏾
On the issue of clothes, the main things are being 1) comfortable and 2) safe (in terms of visibility and crash protection). You don't need the most expensive kit to achieve these. Personally I mix and match. I cheap out in the summer but go all in for good winter gear. Some of the more expensive gear only makes sense under certain circumstances. For example I would only buy photo chromatic lenses if I were riding frequently at dawn or dusk. One need not buy an expensive brand such as Oakley. As long as the glasses are made out of polycarbonate it will be just as safe in a crash.
Appreciate you Luis. And thanks for not editing out those emotions. It shows how powerful this way of life can be
Great ride experiences is what I love most about this sport. I feel you on building that connection as well. Much love brother.
Thanks Brother. That Sprint was primal!
Luis, I just started following you and cant say enough about how happy I am that I did! This entire episode is SPOT ON.. from nutrition and kits, to biking etiguette and fellowship. Thank you!
Thanks for watching and supporting the channel👍🏾
Hi Luis. I really appreciate your videos and honesty with the emotions. Nothing to apologise for. Your passion to connect people through cycling is beautiful.
Keep up the good work mate.
Thank you John🙏🏾
Amazing video! Cycling is about enjoyment and connection.
Indeed it is👍🏾
I'm a 67 year old guy (in boca) who started riding 2years ago , I'm happy I get to ride 18-23miles 4/5 x a week on my trek dual sport the exercise is great and the biggest benefit is my mind. Yes of course I have 'strava envy ' of guys doing 40 to 60 mile rides ... found your channel enjoy your videos ... thanks
Thank you for watching. Keep riding 👍🏾
I’ve started traveling with my bike whenever I have work travel just so I can keep fitness and experience each location beyond the main metro areas and it’s been great for me. I’m with you with experiencing new destinations, cultures plus dining experiences.
Dinning! We eat and then burn it off👍🏾
I do agree with you at the last point. The long zone 2 rides are both optimal for your training, but also for your mind when doing them in good company.
Indeed!
11:30 your honesty and pride in group rides is great to see. Keep it up!
Thank you Chris!
Awesome video totally agree with everything. Cycling has become the new middle-age middle-class sport where you can show off your gear and the money you spent on it. The club I ride in has better gear than the Tour de France. They laugh about me and my Aluminum bike. Their obsession with weight and aero is absolutely hilarious though themselves they are 220 lbs. One guy last time showed up in "aero socks". Now they all have aero socks :D.
Hey Luis, I felt your your fellowship comment; I was thinking you were going that direction right before you begun. I feel you right there, and thanks for going there and sharing and letting us see how much it means to you! Nothing "baby" about it, much respect!
Thank you👍🏾
Hey Luis, that is truly a very honest and authentic video about some of the current cycling habits a rider has to deal with. Fun is the most important part of it all. Keep up doing these videos, would like to see more of it soon. - Nils
I appreciate that! Thanks for watching 👍🏾
Luis, I remember when they use to drill holes in parts for the weight weenies, sew ups, etc. Aero this and that! For us riders who race, not professionally, Best weight savings is our own body weight and position. I appreciate all of your blogs! Never feel like its a waste of time! Your right, the fellowship of cyclist especially when you can go casually and talk enoy the ride. Thanks my new friend!
Thanks for watching👍🏾
Luis, yes indeed, I did enjoy your video. You are a Champion, a man with soul, and passion. Not just cycling, but also the ability to 'lift' our spirits & enthuiasm.
Cheers from Melbourne Australia.
I am 76 yo & cycle every day, not far - 10 to 15 kms.
Cycling helps me to 'make peace' - relaxes, slows down the world.
Thankyou Luis
Thank you Kevin... you are definitely an inspiration 👍🏾
Very nice video, it was great to see how you include the group rides with the people you meet and your friends. The Italy trip was great, wonderful memories. So sweet to see you get emotional over a sport you love and share with everyone around you 🚲 🚴♀️ 😊
Thanks Lilly! I appreciate you guys so much❤
Excellent video LS... I finally found your videos, after a "flash" from youtube of videos i may be interested in. I really like your down to earth, genuine and caring heart for cycling and cyclists of all classes. Your evaluation of fads and perceived or expected norms in the cycling community is relevant, appropriate and balanced... not to mention, it makes a lot of sense. Looking forward to exploring more of your content and sharing the link with friends. All the best and keep up the good work!!!
Thank you! That is much appreciated 👍🏾
You don’t miss with the quality content Lu! I always enjoy watching and learning from you.
Thank you Cofi! I appreciate you Brother👍🏾
Love your vids, content, especially your honesty! I went on a memorial ride, recently, for a fellow cyclist. His brother shared with us, that the deceased was an organ donor, and that the family had met a young man that had received the heart of the dearly departed. I got so choked up listening to this, but also felt a great deal of pride being a fellow cyclist, and of the great community of cycling that we share!
That is very touching Manuel. We have a great community of people👍🏾
Excellent content, I am glad I subscribed. Please keep the ideas and videos coming. Thanks for your commitment to good counsel and great content.
Thanks you👍🏾
Great video Luis and I can relate to all the comments and observations you provide. As an aging rider, I have found myself guilty of being single-minded about hanging with the A group and not connecting with my riding friends in fellowship. It's a work in progress but something I need to address to help me become a better cyclist. Be safe out there.
Thank you for sharing that👍🏾
I appreciate you man. That last piece on the human connection hits me as well. I’ve met some genuinely great human beings through cycling and that to me has been the most valuable reward I could ever get.
I’m a young father and I’ve met older cats who have been where I am in life and passed words of wisdom down. I’ve met young and old professionals of various industries who have expanded my network, all while sharing a level of positivity that folks just don’t understand or appreciate until they experience it themselves.
Take care and next time I’m in FL I hope to ride with you and your crew!!
Thanks for sharing that Glenn! Definitely hit me up if you are ever down here... wellget one in👍🏾
Accomplishing human basic needs by riding. (Certainty uncertainty ,love & connection ,growth ,contribution) . Keep up the good work 👊🏾👊🏾.
Thank you Adam!
Appreciate you always keeping it real bro. Keep informing, instructing, and inspiring us. God’s hand is on your life.
Thank you Sir!
I am not in the cycling mainstream. I usually 0:02 ride alone and restore bikes from 1998 to 2003. But I did join a group ride a few years ago, and it is a good experience. It has taken some time to get to know everyone
Once they saw I was serious and Safety minded, I was accepted. I look forward to this once a week
Hi Dennis! Thanks for sharing this👍🏾
You forgot one. The fancy bike collecting dust in the basement. Thanks for reminding me that I broke my promise to lead rides this year. I still have time but it goes fast. You're and inspiration. Thanks.🚴♀
Yeah! Go lead that ride👍🏾
You sir seem to be a leader. A person who lives for others, for a greater good, probably putting God 1st in your life. There is no shame in showing emotions when living a life for others. That is where true joy and peace is achieved! Your speed on the bike likely inspires others to push themselves into places they thought they couldn’t go before. Keep up the good work, God’s work. Leaders go first, go hard and go fast - they lead by an example worth following.
Thank you for your kind words!
Great video ! Safety on the roads should be mentioned, especially in South Florida. I got off the streets because our fellow humans are too distracted. Fun yes ! Safety absolutely! Thanks for sharing.
Thanks for watching👍🏾
This is my first time watching one of your videos. I love your perspectives on cycling. Thank you for what you do. I subscribed. I hope I’ll ride with you some day if you ever come up to the mountains on WNC.
Thank you, Luis! I really enjoyed watching this video. You are a good man.
I appreciate that! Thank you 👍🏾
i just found your channel and these are great! your voice is so soothing :D
Been really enjoying your content - you do a a great job - great stuff! People - that’s been where my best experiences have come from.
Thanks for watching!
I really enjoyed this video and your stream in general. You always hit points that really matter!
Thank you!
Bravo Luis. Keeping it real. Sure wish I was closer would love to ride with you and the crew.
Maybe one day!
Another banger Luis, it’s perfectly ok to get emotional about something good. Bringing love, fellowship and people together is a beautiful thing. Hope to get to ride with you one day soon! Greg, Atlanta GA.
Thank you Greg. I'll be at the one love 👍🏾
@@thegoodwheel 👍🏾
Great video! Also, I'm a huge fan of modern steel road bikes, can't wait to hear more about your new build.
Thank you!
A great update and look forward to seeing your new build Luis.. your such an inspiration and love your channel I really felt the emotion as I’m an emotional guy to and when you talked about connecting with people and that’s something I also love to do.. huge respect my friend I wish y9u were in the UK as you we would certainly be great buddies 😊😃😃🚴🏻
I believe we would be Pete! Thanks for always supporting 👍🏾
Very interesting.... For me, cycling is and always has been a solo activity. Since childhood.
When our kids were still kids, I used to ride somewhere with one, two or all three of them... When they were teens, I rode sometimes with one or another of them to a more distant destination. But they are family and family is family.
Usually, I like to ride alone.
Somehow, that is what it is about.
Thanks for sharing!
This is great content. Thank you so much for being so positive.
Great video, subscribed and keep up the honesty on all these videos. This is the second time I find your vids and this time I ended up subscribing. The first time was when you reviewed The Caad10 and guess what? I went ahead and bought myself a used one. Extremely happy with it, doing B and A’s rides with it 👌🏼🤙🏼. Be blessed brother 🙏🏼
Thanks for sharing that. It is nice to know👍🏾
I love the positivity, all of your points were clear without being combative and adding to the toxic discourse and that is awsome to see!
Thanks for watching👍🏾
Bravo! Love your takes on what matters, applicable not just in cycling but life in general
Thank you!
Thank you Luis - great video and advice - loved your emotion and passion about connecting people and making a difference. Subscribed and looking forward to your content! My personal take outs were working on my body aerodynamics, remembering to have fun adventure rides and connect more with my riding buds and son on the bike. Thanks and Be blessed!
Thank you Simon👍🏾
I've been binging this channel and this video really resonated with me. Subbed to keep up with your new videos as I'm consuming all of your previous work.
Thanks for watching and supporting the channel
Voice of sanity.
I've never been attracted to competitive cycling.
Instead I love exploring, getting out in the country, the feeling of using my body. Sometimes social, often alone.
All the things you're talking about.
Thanks for watching👍🏾
This was great. You’ve given/reinforced some ideas for fun group rides. Thanks for the great content.
Thank you!
I am at my best in the morning before the heat kicks in . I overheat easily in summer so I stick near lakes and ponds in case I have to jump in to cool down . Great video and you are spot on about staying away from junk food .
That lake dip sounds so good👍🏾
Great discussion. Your most important point/concept in my opinion is "it's all about the ride and the people that you share it with". It's not about the clothing, aero kit, or sprint finish placing. Like your videos. Cheers from California!
Thank you Jake!
Just found your channel. Subbed. Love your authenticity and enthusiasm. Greetings from an Irish rider in Dublin! :)
Awesome! Thank you!
Good information Luis and content that covers just about every group A B & C Thank you.....
Thank you Charles👍🏾
11:17 Damn you Luis, you almost made me cry too Jah bless!
Let it flow Bro. Let it flow
Don’t be sorry. That meant a lot to me, seeing the humanity of a cyclist is special. I say that because I’ve been riding, and enjoying the QOMs and sprints. Then when I got diagnosed with Multiple Sclerosis, I felt I was left behind. I can barely walk properly let alone ride. I got caught up in all the things you mentioned in the beginning of the video, and I promised myself when I do get back I would take the time to enjoy the ride, pace myself and not focus on unimportant things. It’s a privilege to ride and enjoy the outdoors it’s more than the sprints. this was a really good video ❤
Hi there. Thank you for watching and sharing your story with us.
I have a friend that was recently diagnosed as well and it's been tough.
I would like you to reach out through my email in the description if you like... would like to hear your story. Thanks again! Keep getting after it.👍🏾
@@thegoodwheel Thank you for reaching out to me, and I understand it is tough. I don't know if your friend cycles, but the hardest part is letting go, and knowing one day you can return. I hope that they will stay hopeful. I will email you shortly.
Just subscribed. Never apologize for something you’re passionate about. I LOVE how your content is focused on community, relationships, & health. I appreciate that you’re a mature man taking care of your health as I am 53. I’m excited to follow your journey. Your friend from Austin TX
Hey Paul! Thank you for that affirmation👍🏾
I live in Toronto Canada I wish I lived near you. You content is great to watch keep it up.
Thank you👍🏾
Hey I loved the video. I’m currently in the military suffering from fibromyalgia and some other health issues. The last few months I’ve picked up biking and gotta say I’m doing so much better. Biking is really something else and gotta say I really enjoyed your outlook on connecting people. I’m gonna try to find some people to ride with because you inspired me. Also can’t wait to see the bike build I’m currently riding a vintage Raleigh that’s half aluminum and half steel and absolutely love it and it was only 100 bucks!
Thank you for your service! I hope you continue recovering well.
Yes, it seems cycling is good for loads of stuff. Thanks for watching👍🏾
I enjoyed this video so very much - especially the part when you “showed tears”.
Thank you for the valuable information!!
Belinda (cyclist since 2021)
Thank you Belinda👍🏾
Just starting to get into cycling, first time seeing your Chanel. Instantly subscribed. Loved the video keep up the great content
Thank you Brandon👍🏾
Kodiak.
Thank you for the videos. I stumbled across you by accident researching sizes for a Caad 10 I recently purchased. Used in near new condition/ a solid deal with the training unit, some upgrades. I've ridden bikes since I was a born almost, always loved it. Was always intimidated by road bikes. But I did it and I now understand the fever and love of cycling in a new way. Currently looking for a club on FB or online in Napa /Solano area Northern Ca. As a small business- restaurant owner, I deserve me time again now that I'm 52 and my kids are in HS, mostly self sufficient. So I have some time to explore this new cycling stage in my life. Golf will easily take a back seat!
Thanks the content and you have a gift for sharing my friend!
Thank you for sharing this great post Michael! Enjoy the sport👍🏾
This was really enjoyable to watch and no apologies sir we appreciate your passion and support for the sport and comrades. 🤜🤛 🙏🏾 💪🏾
Thank you!
The “snobbery” resonated with me, I see more of that than I care to. I LOVE riding, and I also LOVE building bikes. All my bikes are built frame up by me, and my old steel Bianchi road frame from ‘86 with modern components gets some pretty weird looks on rides. But man alive it is one of the smoothest riding bikes I’ve ever had. And yes, health health health!!! I’m approaching 50 and I’ve started doing more upper body weight training and it is has been effective for my riding as well as my overall energy levels. Keep up the great videos! You have the best cycling videos on here!
Man, thank you for that👍🏾
Whats up bud.
This is the first vid of yours I came across.
Subscribed!
Good for you on the diet shift.
Been vegan for 15+ years. Biking/cardio gains have been insane.
Love that you get emotional over seeing person to person connection.
In these harder and darker times that we have all been going through (in the technologically saturated era we are in), tech has surely connected us in some ways, but in a lot of ways it has shattered our ability to have meaningful interactions. So I feel you on seeing things like that happen organically. It's almost like witnessing a miracle before your eyes that technology has blinded us to.
Riiiide on,
Cheers.
Thank you for sharing that 👍🏾
This was a well done video! I really appreciate your takes. Recently I started exploring new areas on my bike and it has made for some really cool discoveries and got me out of my normal weekly routes. One thing I would like to do is remove barriers to the sport and help more people enjoy cycling.
Thank you Daniel! I share those sentiments 👍🏾
I get your points, but part of cosmetic bike upgrades and fancy clothing is mental. When you look good, you feel good, and when you feel good, you ride good! Also sometimes when you feel your motivation to ride trailing off sometimes a new snazzy piece of kit will get you back on the saddle and restore your motivation!
Also about long rides, I think it's good for your mind, body, and soul to go out on an absolute crusher of a ride occasionally, something that you don't think you can accomplish and leaves you tired and sore for a week afterwards. It builds character and mental fortitude, and shows you that you are stronger than you think.
That connection thing-- powerful. Thank you ❤
👍🏾
Onboard with all of what you say. Its not about competition, we've done that. its more about achieving everything else and above all getting out of the comfort zone. Can't believe how mainstream cycling has now become, I was used to being the only one out in the rain, snow, storms, sun etc.Not any more! I sometimes go down to the Negev desert in Israel to meet my friends we go off into the desert trails leaving at 4am in the dark. Cycling is about those experiences you mentioned and also getting out of your comfort zone. Nice vidt
You've really described a beautiful experience 👍🏾
Great video!!
Great video. You’ve made some excellent points. There’s a lot of love in this video.
Thank you choochoo!
I love this so much. You're doing great work here, Luis. Keep going.
Thank you! Ibreally appreciate that👍🏾
Great video! I’m living in Japan right now and the cyclists here are all masochists. On the hottest or coldest days they’ll do 200K, 300K or even longer rides. It’s just nuts. The riding is beautiful though, and the exact opposite of Florida in that the climbs are many and very steep! One thing about giving up red meat, don’t forget that it’s very nutritious, full of B vitamins and good fats. Enjoy in moderate amounts! Keep up the good work!
Hi! I've seen videos of riding in Japan and the cycling culture. It is definitely something I plan on doing.
I love your passion, it's very encouraging... Keep up the great work.
Thank you! Will do!
Luis, I just came across your video on the Tube and decided to listen. I’m glad I did. Your love and passion for cycling and your fellow cyclists was the reason why I decided to like and subscribe. I live in Maryland and cycled in my youth but took it up again at 50. I’m 63 and still an ardent cyclist. Listening to you speak of weekend group rides, solo rides and in season centuries, brought back many memories. When I commissioned my first bike, I jumped in head first and averaged 5-7 centuries for my first 8-9 years. These days I might get 2-3 in. The rides have come back after COVID but I’ve got competing interests. The main one being Flying. I also have an interest in classic steel frame bikes. My father was a top cyclist in the 50’s & 60’s in the Caribbean where i was born. I loved how those machines looked back then and still do. I’m looking to acquire one so ill be looking at your channel for suggestions. Thanks again for your passionate support for cycling and cyclists. No apologies necessary for a minor display of emotion. Cycling and Cyclists are obviously important to you .
