David fights Goliath. If You ever wondered how Edifier R1280T compares to JBL LSR305 than You do not have to wonder any more, here is my comparison ;) If You bare in mind that Edifier is quite a bit smaller and much cheaper, than You have to admire how well it keeps up with JBL. Naturally I do not suggest that R1280T can be viable competition to LSR305, but I think it is interesting comparison nontheless. R1280T is a great choice for someone looking for first stereo speakers for desktop or beadroom system on a tight budget, JBL is a great for anyone looking for upgrade from cheap stereo speakers and my favourite speaker under 300 dollars/euro. What do You think? Does this comparison makes any sense to You? Let me know in the comments below! Cheers!
Sound recorded using Tascam DR-22WL sound recorder. Levels matched. - Věda a technologie
No intro bull, straight to business and nice music selections. Subbed 😎
@Sergio Moshe uh huh sure
@Cheryle Tress I don't think so
You're doing a great job man, keep it up and thanks for the quality of your work.
Thank You!
Love that you used such a wide variety in music
Dude I love you channel! I'm in the market for some monitors and this helps so much! I use my xone headphones for best results
Best channel to compare sound in youtube.
Love your channel and the way you do comparison. Keep it up please
Amazing comparison. Sometimes the difference is subtle, on others it's considerable.
In Studio class the teacher always used to say as an engineer you mix down your track with cheaper speakers.
Yeah I've heard something like that. Mix you stuff on good monitors but always test how it sounds on 10$ speakers cuz that's how 95% of people will consume your music
I own both of these speakers. I used the Edifiers for my computer and the JBLs for my turntable setup. Both are excellent.
Which is better for playing instruments on? Like a piano?
@@JohnnyBoyUploadsthe jbl, due to the neutral frequency response
I attest they are amazing for vinyls
I love this channel. I love these two speakers. Can both be used with remote control? What other sound speaker similar to JBL 305 can be used with remote control?
As per sound quality and budget is considered Edifier 120T is the winner for me. Few things can be controlled by your equaliser. Thanks for making such great videos.
Many thanks for the comparison!
Awesome music selection here. Do you have spotify playlist i can follow?
Thanks! Here is a list of tracks I often use to test : open.spotify.com/user/217omdnzgqs7e3im3dxrjoiyq/playlist/2RjLZpzOpAz36VtYY0baCR
what a coincidence, had the edifiers before the jbls and the jbls are in a different world , but for the price the edifiers are OK.
Between JBL LSR305 and Edifier R1280T - I choose Edifier R1280T.
I have these speakers, and they a perfect!!!
For sound monitoring and mastering - I use M-Audio BX5-D3.
Nice demonstration for a expensive speaker for a affordable for me speaker .
Those edifiers sound great with metal, ill be putting a proper crossover network in them reguardless, with a tiny bit of work these will be exceptional speakers.
Those JBL's are quite impressive, they sound really natural and dont have some kind of signature at all. The music sounds like its the file directly playing from your computer
I got them for the price of an R1000T4 Lol
I have the edifier speakers and I think they sound absolutely amazing. I have a pair of $400 M-Audio monitors that I prefer them over... plus they compliment my desk set up aesthetically, and given the price they were a win-win-win.
Edifier 1280t is in one of the list I want to get. Will be placed in the living room for movie and my phono system. Is this a decent speaker to get?
I own the Edifier and gotta have to say they are very awesome in general and they are probably the best speakers you can get for >100$. I am totally satisfied with them but I gotta have to admit that the JBLs are very tempting.
I have the 1280DB for a month now and I was so impressed I bought the 1700BT also for 20 euro more, wouldn't even be tempted for these JBL's.
@@JayNL what's the price you paid for the Edifier 1280DB?
@@cllemzsamvchelsea 120 euro
I would love to see a comparison with these jbl's & elacs b6's …
Amon Amarth good choice for testing
Just bought a pair of the 1280s for TV speakers rather than a sound bar.
I have a new hi end 2 channel system. I love JBL and the 305s are super monitors definitely much stronger and neutral than the Ed's. I must say for the price, 5in/horn vs 4in/ soft dome the Edifiers did a stand up job against a great JBL. I understand that Edifier actually matches its speakers for response. Pretty impressive for a $100.00. But the JBL puts it in perspective.
i need SWAN and thonet&vander , those two amazing, you should try!
Great choice of music to test them! For me Edifiers are better. Nicer sounding and I listen to metal usually so the good trebles are important fer me. Also they have more natural "wooden" sound. Would be great for Metallica's Master of Puppets faster and sharper guitars too I believe.
Hi! Could you tell me if there is any audible difference between the R1280T and the R1280DB? Your channel is the best in this segment, wonderful!! Please keep it up!
I honestly can not answer Your question just yet, as I have not tested R1280DB. I want to test it soon thought. As soon as I do I will post a comparison on my channel ;)
Oh ok! I'll be waiting excited for it and other comparisons too! 😊
pokde.net/tech/edifier-r1280db-bookshelf-speaker-review/
This review says that r1280db is better.
Why don't the speakers vibrate according to the music? Are they just pictures?
I just demo'ed the 305, Vs M-Audio BX5 Vs KRK Rocket 5's, and I was blown away by how fluid the BX5's were. I went searching for the Eris e4.5, but no such luck. The guy behind the counter (Guitar center) told me he favored the Eris over the BX5's, but not by much.
IMO Eris E4.5
Liviu Preda nope. Specifically mentioned the 4.5 as slightly better. He stated that the e5 would blow the BX5 out of the water.
I have not heard BX5 so I will not comment on them, but I have both Presonus speakers at home and for me E5 is better than E4.5 in absolute terms. E5 is clearer, more detailed and more neutra,l but also a bit ruthless and clinical. E4.5 is much cheaper and not as detailed but for pure listening pleasure I would go with it as it is more fun. JBL is like combintion of both, it is even more detailed than and precise than E5 yet it is also pleasure to listen.
Would be awesome a video about Woxter dl410 vs Edifier R1280T, both are super cheap!
Edi's do it again! Excellent speakers for a great price. Do JBLs sound better? Sure they do but not as double as the price tag.
All the tests are with Edifier R1280T hmm is it that great? I want to get smth in that price range.
I would like to see a comparison of these with Microlab Solo 5c
nice music selection
I've complained in the Ed 1280 vs Ed 1700bt test about the 'hall' sounding effect I felt in the latter even if you had told the 1700bt was superior. Then when I went to the 1700bt x JBL LSR305 test I just confirmed my discomfort with that mentioned effect. Now in this video though I preffered the JBL sound I'm amazed by how close the Ed1280 comes to it !!! And here in Brazil prices are like u$ 590 x u$ 230, gosh !!!!
Thank's for your great work ! I can't believe even very few people do complain about anything on your great work !
I think it's obvious the JBL is going to sound better just by looking at them. I think the point of this video is to show just how good the Edifiers can hang with speakers punching above its weight class.
what is the device use to recording the sound ?
Im a JBL fanboy boy buy damn that edifier is no slouch
I am planning to buy either JBL or Edifier but cannot decide. Want to use on regular PC for video editing purposes. Price difference is not significant for me but do I need other special equipment to connect JBL on PC? I don't want to make my system complicated. Thank you for tests and seems Edifier is not behind in terms audio quality.
I'd recommend a nuice sound card for both of them.
JBL: The JBL's round out the mid tones better and have a tad lower fatter frequency response.
EDIFIER: The Edifiers have bit crisper/cleaner high's which is definitely noticeable in the Latin piece.
If you put the Edifier's horns in the JBL's you'd have a great sound.
I agree but for there purpose I think the edifiers hav a more accurate sound.
well... 4" sgainst 5" but it is amazing how well Edifier sounds for the price. True, the midrange in Edifier was too recessed and pricier JBL sounds naturally more open.
Agree with you
The sound feels compressed in Edifiers. In JBL it's liberated. Or could it be JBLs are taller therefore the drivers are closer to the mic, while Edifiers are positioned much lower and mic records slightly different sound?
It is a matter of JBL being a much better speaker, not the matter of slightly different positioning.
Getting the edifier 1280t today for my Xbox can't wait to hear them in real life 🎶 for entertainment but also for gaming
Great work, but I'd like to give you a suggestion. When comparing speakers (and in any A+B test) you need to provide the same instrument on both speakers for the comparison to be effective. More often than not, you switch speakers in the intermezzo between phrases: I.e. when one instrument stops playing and the next starts. This means you get the first instrument only on one speaker and the second on the other. This way I cannot compare other things except the base and cimbals and the voice. As an example of what I'm saying, pls, listen to Mop Mop/Kamakumba.
Other than that, I like your work.
Bonus: Second suggestion: make some binaural recordings. Way better than your current setup.
+Dash Dash I recently decided to buy binaural microphones, but I will have to wait a bit and save some more money because they are expensive (especially with the dummy head). Regarding the way the comparisons are cut and edited, it is a fair point and I will have this in my mind while making next videos ;) Cheers!
Müthiş bi kanal, greetings from İstanbul
The micro isn't on same hight with the tweeters...you should higher up the micro by the JBL's....maybe that's why the Eifier sounds more clear ....?Also...JBL has the bassport @ the backside and the Edifiers have it on the frontside.. !Than you can do this test again?Thnx
I will have this comparison redone in the coming weeks ;)
I have the JBL's and they are home studio monitors ( they still sound amazing ) not really bookshelf speakers though. the edifier 1280s are general speakers not really used for mixing in a home studio. but I have been wrong before. I did also order the edifier 1280db and cant wait to check them out.
What is your review of 1280db now?
@@primerspecial yup any review for edifier
@@qadeerqureshi Using it for past 2 years now. Decent speaker for its price. Nothing extraordinary. Have to tune bass down to half, to get sound clarity. Otherwise, the other instruments in music are harder to identify. I guess, better sound would demand much higher price.
@@primerspecial Thanks!
Can you make test edifier r1280 and pioneer dj dm 40
Honestly, if you boost the mids on the 1280t and paired with the sub, I dont see much of a difference.
Funny idea, gives an impression but the mic's you use, youtube audio compression (including yours) my soundcard and headphones, .. that chain will never give a good impression. So far I think the Edifier does a good job though. When not watching the video it was pretty hard to head the difference between the both of them. Meaning the Edifier does a fine job, keeping in mind the first remark.
Hi! I am aware that this method is flawed but, as You said, if viewer remembers about the limitations than they can use the videos to get quite good idea about how the speakers compare ;)
JBL LSR305 offre un meilleur rendu global surtout dans les médiums.
Edifiers are close to JBL, they lack a bit in mids but since they cost 3x less it's actually impressive. With a bit of eq they can be even better.
Jbl FOREVER I got this jbl studio monitors 4410a from 1995 and they sound awesome, yesterday I turned up the volume to 6.5 dB and my whole house started to shake I checked the specs and they can go up to 20 dB 😱
They sound close “unexpectedly” but I wonder if my xiaomi headphones can be a good judge to tell the difference or not. Maybe it would make a lot more difference when listening with naked ears?
as soon as you use the same pair of headphones to listen to this video, u can actually distinguish the things with no difficulties
Listening with naked ears is anyway the best way to decide buying a monitor or not: to me, many of these sound different when i listen them personally and not in a video, and every monitor can sound different in different rooms, space, distance from walls and so on.
I think the LSR305 is anyway a little step up, but we have to say that a pair of lsr305 costs more than 2 times a pair of edifier.
Imho, the difference is not worth the price as you have more definition and u find a more refined pair of monitors, but the difference is too much to justify.
Nowadays we have bookshelf speakers like these, swans, micca, that sound absolutely great. With the same money 10 yrs ago we would have bought crap sounding speakers.
6:53 Edifier vs 7:00 JBL, this is where you can understand the difference between them. That tonality, detail and sound stage is clear like night and day.
I'm listening with Beyerdynamic DT 990 PRO which are very detailed and crisp and still think when you listen in person the difference is even bigger.
For the price I love them both.
P. S. still no White Noise? :(
Good catch there you can definitely tell the difference clearly on that one section but for many of the other songs the difference is almost indiscernible.
Beyerdynamic lol youactually listen to the most crappy headphones. The can only one thing: Highes.
then you've never amped the DT990 pro which requires a good amp to make the best deal on the ears.
please h20, don't speak if you don't know how the things work
yep, good high impedance headphones needs some power to be driven properly.
Your smartphone or standard PC output wont do that for sure. That is secured.
And no, this is no voodoo, that is physics / electronics
Beyerdynamic is the reference in headphones besided high quality sennheiser ones.
And i am listening through a very nice setup, too.
The most obvious difference for me was when he was playing Ammon Amarth. The Edifier COMPLETELY sucked out the voice and the guitars. Like 1 - 2 KHz is nearly non existing on the edifiers. Probably exactly where the crossover kicks in or should kick in.
I assume the tweeter is inefficient in 2 KHz range like the woofer is and therefore you have a lack of these frequencys.
Like an unwanted overtuned loudnesscurve
So happy with my LSR308's when i listen to this ( with my Sennheiser HD600 )
Hi, I took on amazon the edifier1280t, but the sound seems to me a little detailed, and guitar and piano seem to be boxed. Is there anything like price, but more detailed?
Try Microlab B77 if it is available in Your country
Digital Stereophony in your opinion eidifier 1700bt Are they worth 70 euros more of b77?
Microlab b77 not sell from amazon direct ( for warranty).
And there are difference from 1700bt 1800bt and 1800tiii? Tnx for your splendid works!
Gostei mais da jbl, parece ter mais presença sonora. I liked jbl the most, it seems to have more sonic presence.
JBL has the mid and sounds so natural, but I'll take edifier for the price. A little bit of EQ tuning you can almost replicate that JBL sound.
The edifier have a weird ring at around 3 khz, listening trough HS-80. Are you sure it is there, not artefact from the recorder?
It is the speakers themselves unfortunately
Okay. Thanks for the test. Helped a lot.
Seems to me like jbl's are bigger edifiers
Suggesting : pls include original recording too in all comparisons
hey are the edifiers better thanks like a logitech z623 2:1 system?
Samc edifier were miles better than logitech. Logitech only advantage is gaming, beside that.....
The bottom end of both sound awful but I'm pretty sure it's due to the method of capturing the audio. You really need two mics, one for each channel.
Nice to listen Katie Melua B)
The Edifiers sound is airy. Plus if you want a little more bass or treble you can adjust it. R1280T takes it. But if you gonna listen to RTJ you gotta have BASS!! Jbls take it!
Yea!!! Amon Amarth!!
what is the quality of music u use to test
Mostly lossless files with occasional 320kbps CBR MP3
I hear only small differences between these incomparable products, in the price point being considered. JBLs are better, but Edifier hav the ability to compete with a product in a far price range...
Edifier awesome
LSR 305's seem to have a more balanced or better clarity in the top end. In my opinion the Edifier's lower end shines through slightly better than the 305's. It appears that it ultimately comes down to one's specific taste or preference of sound or choice of music.
From top to bottom JBL is better but it should not be a surprise given the price difference. Lower end in R1280T is its biggest asset IMO, it is more flashed out than in JBL because of the upper bass boost used to render the bass bigger than it is. Overall JBL has superior bass response without superficially boosting upper ranges, but kudos to Edifier for what they accomplished here!
who is the guy that tests spkrs with a helicopter fly by?
To my ears, the JBL has a huge (ghastly) notch (dip) in the mid-range, that EQ is not likely to correct … With a small amount of Bass Boost, the Edifier will be "studio-flat". JMO. … The JBLs would benefit greatly by integrating a proper midrange driver. … Again, JMO. ** (BTW .. I am listening on SONY MDR-7506/V6 STUDIO CANS).
WHAAAAAAT?
Check your ears mate.
According to this video replayed to a pretty decent high end and pretty flat system:
Its the other way around. The Edifier completely lack of mid range roughly around 1 to 2 KHz.
The Edifier completely suck out the voice and guitars.
The JBL are much near flat. Maybe slighly too much mids, but way better and way more at being flat.
The JBL at least have what is called "presence".
The Edifiers are just a simple overtuned loudnesscurve like most cheap audio products have.
A completely overdone loudness curve. Which means bass boost, trebble boost and cut down mids.
1 - 2 KHz is by the way MOST times the crossover kicks in in a 2 way system. Most times 2 KHz and bad 2 way systems always lack in this range because of unproper design or drivers which do not fit well together.
But at the end you still have to listen to them in real life at best in the exact spot you want to put them when you buy them
Edifiers speaker’s are value for
Money
Wow! Looks like Edifier is actually better
Edifer excelente, JBL mas graves (8")
JBL sound more refine / revealing
Add a Fiio K3 to the Edifier and it changes the game.
Edifier R2700
Qualities almost same, probably JBL is more expensive. Edifier is very successful about price and quality.
The JBL speakers are like 3 times as expensive... Also the JBL's are studio monitors and the Edifiers are regular desktop speakers. They both serve a completely different purpose. Poinless comparison imo.
desktop speakers and studio monitor are the fucking same.
No there not apparently monitors are designed to have a flat response so you can mix music where as desktop can be tuned to your personal taste IE excess bass mid range what ever. there are lots of youtube vids out there
like i said its the same, you can change the response of every speaker.
youshallnotpass pass No, this is not true at all. You can change the EQ to boost/soften certain frequencies, sure. Studio monitors are built to deliver a clean, linear and undoctored frequency response, while consumer speakers are built around dynamics and harmony. A consumer speaker is built to smoothen music out to make it sound perfect, while a studio monitor is built to reveal every single flaw in a track, as a DJ/producer would want that.
Edifier tem um grave mais agradável,
Edifier has a nicer bass.
maravilha
Qual tu escolheria?
JBL takes the crown again!
edifiers sound 1 level washy +1 trebly in bassy Rock compared to jbl. and in house music edifier is I level down articulate in high punchy notes. But for the pricez Edifiers.
Edifier up
bigger is usually better sounding , but front ports have a practical advantage
Edifier R1280T - BEST!!!
heavy just splendid
the JBL LSR305 sound way more precise and detailed..
The edifier are amazing for the price but the lsr305 are a step up
If want mixdown. i think Amon more better.
Have to give this to the Edifier again 3.5 inch Driver Vs 5 inch Driver so to me the JBL's have a slight and I mean slight better bottom end but literally do the math! the only way you pick the JBL's Is if your fuck'n snob. 1280T
isn't really enjoying the hung hung background sound when i listening to music.
The distorted electric guitar is better on the Edifier
The lady vocals is better on the JBL
On snare drum and acoustic guitar both are identical
You should compare those JBL's to the Edifier R2730DB since they are on same price range, and from the video Edifier obviosly sounds beter on full range.
I was shocked when amon amarth was played lol
Jbl won on the amon amarth, like via straight KO. Huge difference in the drums and guitar
edifier sounded weird especially at the mid-high tones
Edifier has more range, more sounds..
Jbl
It's like comparing a Harley Davidson Road King or a BMW S1000RR with a Yamaha TMax... Sure JBL pack more punch .... It's a $500ish speaker... While edifier is just $100ish... Both got the job done, but ... Come on...
I perceive a cleaner sound from the Edifiers
No kidding jbl lsr 350 is better but it's costlier to.
Edifier better sounds softer and natural
no lol
JBL is a step up from the edifier
Sound is way clearer and precise, seems more refined
You can hear it many times here but u have to listen with so much attention
