However, I really like your idea of providing a free design upfront. Given that I'm not proficient in design and it would cost me if I fail to close the client, what would you suggest? How can I effectively offer a free design initially without incurring significant costs? are you using the same wireframe of a design that you will show to the client???
I like offering value first. If you were to hire a sales person or run paid ads that’d still cost you. Offering a free design gets you in the door with a lot of companies. Test it on a few and see if it’s effective for you :)

Mobiles, they are publically available via google profiles so nothing illegal
Unbelieavable how many people say no to free stuff, I wonder why. What do you do if you cold call for a company that doesn't have any good offers lol.
