    This was awesome, and your drive to do this is phenomenal. I am really impressed. I wished you and this tech was around in the 80's, it would have been truly life changing.

    5:28 I have that "The World Is A Beautiful Cat" design as a flag hanging on my wall. I love TWIABP! When I looked at your list of clients on your website I thought it was pretty cool seeing Broken World Media, Run For Cover, Too Far Gone, & Square Of Opposition on there. A lot of my favorite bands are on those labels and I do a lot of business with them buying records for my personal collection!

    If only 78 steel needle records could be cut. Much more difficult.

    • @tragwag
      @tragwag Před rokem

      I have done those in the past, though the plastic wide-groove 78s can only be played back with fibre/bamboo needles

    How cut in a perfect spiral if center of disc is faster than the border?

  • @domwebhost
    @domwebhost Před 7 lety

    2:59. "Crank the lead-in groove". Can you explain this a little bit? Are you just cutting a deeper groove into the start of the record for the stylus to fall into easily? Great video and keep on cutting!!!!

    • @tragwag
      @tragwag Před 5 lety +2

      hey dom! not a deeper groove, but the lead in is essentially blank grooves (no audio) that come before the music starts. they are cut at a more coarse pitch (more space between them) so the needle can catch

    Hi is there such a thing as a lathe that has two cutting heads? Do you know any models?

    • @audiogeographystudios
      @audiogeographystudios  Před rokem

      not that I know of! the closest I can think of is an experimental stereo playback system by Cook Labs, with two playback arms.

  • @gsantosk8

    Hey, you've been doing an awsome work, so, please tell me, is it possible to cut a record from straight from an analog media, say a reel to reel tape for example.

    Hello, I have a Rek O Kut and M-12 Mono Cutting head project that I am working on. What type of amp would be the best on a budget? I only have a 50 W tube guitar amp but I don't think that will give very good results. My cutting head is reading at 5 ohm. What section would I look under for the solid state amp if I was searching on a music website? Is it a preamp, a power amp or a guitar amp that you use? I'm wanting to run the sound from my computer. Also does your cutter head have an in line fuse? If so, how did you install it? Also how do you do your lead in/lead out grooves? I have a rek-o-kut lathe as well and have pictures if that would be helpful. Thank You very much!!!

    • @tragwag
      @tragwag Před 5 lety

      try a home stereo or standard PA power amp instead! I do have a inline fuse on all my cutter head audio lines yes. I'm not sure if the rek o kut has the handcrank, but the Presto 6N does and I just crank that for the lead in/lead outs

  • @djpopcorn

    So no preview signal?

    • @tragwag
      @tragwag Před rokem

      no need, the pitch system is manual in this case (and on all my other lathes). preview signal is needed for automatic pitch systems on higher end machines
