- Roached Clips aka Woody and Mark planned the Sheetzury - a century ride with three stops at different Sheetz and an order of made to order food at each one. The bicycle ride took us over beautiful control roads and 5500 feet of climbing. Even though it was a road ride I was on my gravel bike anyways - the Raleigh Tamland 2. It was a fun group with a mix of old and new friends. Joy Machine and Dirty River Bicycle Works were represented. We kept a fairly high pace along the rout too.

A decade+ ago when we had 9 Sheetz here in Lancaster County, I put together a 100 mile ride called Three² Sheetz to the Wind Shenzury. There are now 18, thus a Three² X2 Sheetz to the Wind, but it will need to be a Double Metric Shenzury. If they build nine more then its Three Cubed....
Hell yeah! Love it!
I also like “Schmentzury”. 😎
Ice cream in that handlebar bag. 😂 wait wha?😮 that’s actually a great idea Tim. Get yourself a handlebar cooler bag and load it up with some ice cream sandwiches!
It's called Sheetz to remind you of what you'll have to do within minutes of eating their food.
100%
I miss sheetz ;-( newyork/Rochester needs them asap!
Definitely typically also sticking to a self-set speed. Got to have your own standards and keep pushing yourself. Great video!
Thanks!
Great summary Tim! Too bad we couldn't keep the whole group together but that's the way it goes sometimes.
Thanks!
It’s always tough. It’s always tough. You can try the two group idea(fast/slow), the sweeper, or what everyone tries to make happen “download the route and take care of yourself “ .
Nothing ever works perfect when you organize and care about all the people involved.
That’s why I only organized one longer ride then retired. 😂
NICE! That's some heavy biking. I was lost at first because I had no idea what Sheetz was. I saw "Three Sheetz to the Wind" and thought it was a long party ride with stops for shots or something. Was befuddled when I saw a bunch of roadie-type people at the beginning of the ride. XD
Yeah - the Joy Machines guys wear their kit though they are mostly cyclocross and gravel riders. I didn't know the other "roadie" guys before hand but everyone turned out to be cool.
I think we got our first Sheetz in the early 2000s - a PA company I believe.
2:45 Viscous Cycles bike spotted! Made in New Paltz NY!
Fuck yeah I want to do this.
PA's Crush the Commonwealth ride is colloquial known as Tour De Sheetz.
Love the music track as always.
Thanks!
Totally guilty of pushing when I shouldn't to maintain Strava average.. Well done, man.
Ha! We all do it.
Thanks!
Way to finish strong... When I was a kid, my Dad coached a lot of my sports (like soccer) and he always made us "finish strong" by running ladders or sprints. Must have stuck with me because I often find myself pushing the hardest the last few miles of a ride. Either that or I'm just excited to get to the cold beer waiting for me🍺
Why not both!?
I did the same tonight - I’m on a two day trip to Ann Arbor- had dinner at mile 105 then hammered the 15 to the campground!
Cheers!
SHEETZ has IT! Best aspartame soda money can buy.
I had never heard of Sheetz before doing the GAP/CnO this year. They became a regular stop for us. Loved them.
A PA company I think? We started getting them in about 2001.
I should’ve stopped at the second Sheetz!
I was wondering how you guys dealt with the bridge out. I rerouted north to W. Boston but it was a dead end and I had to backtrack and head further north before I crossed paths with you guys again and got back on course.
Then I saw you guys climbing up W. Boston in front of me and it looked like Everest. I was overheated and cramping at that point so I mapped out the flattest route I could that would get me home.
I dropped into the valley around Szalay’s and passed you guys again as I was heading to Truxell Road to climb out of the valley and head home.
I just don’t do well when the dew point is in the 70’s. I still managed 110 for the day. I just couldn’t climb with the way I was feeling. I wish I could have hung on longer. It was a fun idea for a route.
Ah - this makes so much more sense!
I was confused by our passings.
It would have been tough to get a bike over that detour solo.
110 with considerable climbing in that heat is awesome.
My Garmin always rounds down .1 mph so i generally destroy my legs on the last few miles of a century just to maintain, we’re only human😂. Never been to sheetz aside for candy. I’m more of a speedway or run down IGA person myself up in the Catskills, oh and I dabble in garden hoses of willing homeowners houses.
The whole Sheetz thing is funny - loading up on some snacks is usually why I stop in a gas station too(or water).
I used to live off of MTO lol. Sheets across from my house. No more. My sheets food days are over. But you guys are crushing miles so it won't cost ya anyway. 5500ft & 100. impressive. I definitely would have abandoned. Well done.
Yeah - I don’t even drink pop - but a Dr. Pepper on a ride like this? Why not.
Thanks - cheers brother!
Amazing video. Amazing group go guys go
Thanks!
This is epic! Gotta organize one of these here in Northern VA.
Goofy, tough, and fun!
Thanks Tim , and Sir Edmund Fitzwater III . Esq.
Edmund Fitzgerald Fitzwater thank you very much 😂
Nice jersey!! It looks good on you.
Thanks! Terry B’s!
I rode the KATY in June and a week later did a century charity ride. Rang up a Personal Best. Bike Packing is a sneaky great way to stay fit and condition. Great vid. Ride Safe…..
Awesome - would you recommend the Katy? Does it stay interesting? (It’s on my list)
Cheers!
@@TimFitzwater Hi, was a bit disappointed. The CZcams hype can’t be believed. Looooong stretches of dusty straight trail. Not many through bikers, mostly day riders. Most “train stop towns” are no more than a few houses. (I enjoyed the variety of OTET more). We hammered 105 the first day from Clinton to Cooper’s landing. Then ran into long stretches of waterless stops after Coopers’s landing. Oddly many businesses (like bike shops and food on the trail) are closed during the week and only open on weekends. We found Very little camping. You will need to plan carefully. One bright spot was Marthasville. Beautiful little town and we camped on the baseball fields with showers and bathrooms for $5.00.
Thanks so much. I've been curious to get some first hand perspective.
I seriously doubt I could ride a 100 miles so I'm putting together a Dollar General ride.
15 Dollar Generals in 15 miles.
😂
Eating Sheetz three times in a fast hundo for fun? Wait what? But yes at the same time! Go! All to a discreate ska beat, too? C'mon. Good vibes here.
😎😂
Cat tax paid
MTnO thank you! I don't like to ride with the sheetz.
Ha! Notice I only ate it once.
Is the title a Pup band reference?
I only know it as an expression for being drunk.
I haven’t had a bike computer or odometer for years now. Part of me wants to know and the other part doesn’t want to know or care. Still on the fence. So my goals may be a little vaguesh at times. Whatever! I do know if I ate all that stuff my goal may have been an Uber.
I get it.
I love knowing the numbers (mostly after the ride) but I also get the “just ride” mentality.
I rode 120 miles today but kept the map up most the time - the numbers would have hurt mentally in the moment.
@@TimFitzwater Guess I should confess I keep a short, simple, written ride diary. Just some notes on the places, day, and mileage based on maps, signs, estimates. Pretty accurate I think. A little fun a little useful and enough for now.
Gravel bike = road bike to everyone else j/s 😉
