- I go on a snowy adventure to my debris shelter to relax and enjoy the slight winter warm-up. My dog Maysie is along as always, and we have a surprise guest... my cat shows up! Enjoy this laid-back winter overnight. Food, fun, and furry guests!
The many names of my cat: Jesse, Angry, Tubby, Tubby-Tubster, and Alaska Butter Cougar. He's about 17 lbs!! ❤️

Really like the longer format! It was so nice to see you lit up with Luci lights - my favorite lighting! I feel like I got to have a longer visit with you, Maizie and tubby cat (Jessie?). Great video!
A mix is good. Sometimes the long form is good for we city dwellers to get some vicarious camping. I watched this one whole, before bed. Often however, we don't feel like committing a full hour to a single video.
The longer video worked out well. The challenge is blocking shots for variety and developing a meaningful narration without too much repetition. Working with animals cuts both ways: for a while I thought of your parody of RealBigMonkey1 and his cat problems while filming. Your dog is a 'natural,' always sitting facing the camera and giving wonderfully composed shots of the two of you. And we have to LOVE the rubber chicken!

I know what you mean. I’m 76yo..but 77yo in July 2022. I could still camp 🏕 out , however it’s the walking that would be tough due to 3 Titanium screws holding my SI JOINT together..which is needed to walk. I do great, but short walking is all. Bummer, but PRAISE THE LORD for the great Surgeon 👨⚕️who uses my own STEM CELLS which heals much better.

Nothing makes me hungrier than the sound of delicious crispy bread being bitten into. This really makes me want grilled cheese. Looked like a nice overnighter! Really dig your companions, never seen a camping cat before!

I almost cried when I saw Da Woofe jumping up and down wanting to go camping with you. I can't believe this video is 6 years ago. My daughters Doberman lived to be 17 years old and always got excited when my daughter came home from work.

Glad to see a women with energy doing what she enjoys. As an ultralite backpacker I don't carry many luxuries or have time to build makeshift shelters. But I'd love to do what you do for about a week if I could fly fish or something during the day. You are just awesome Brooke and I hope to see you on Alone season 4. I wish just once a women would win and I hope it's you. You built a great shelter but I missed Mazie on this outing. Mazie reminded me of watching Lassie as a kid on TV. GOOD JOB BROOKE....I like your dinner menu.....My favorite when I can afford it is T-bone, taters and gravy, green beans, and home made rolls. I really like garlic on just about anything but especially fond of garlic bread. Love the idea of rope lights to illumine the camp. You did a good job. Like your style. See you on next video.

Very cool cat for camping. You will find this not often.
I have a camping latern, who works also as a flashlight, and a build in fan.
You can charge it, by solar or AC. - And you can charge your cell phone with it.
Charging the whole day by solar, will run many hours in the night.
But many laterns or led-lines makes more beautiful light, as one latern only.
Butter Cougar the camping cat is awesome.

You seem to know what makes you happy & makes you get rid of the normal stress. You have your pets with you& they enjoy the same thing. Life is good for all 3 of you, Enjoyed the whole camping scenario as I useta do camping as well but with a lot more stuff. I then did rendezvous with more & bigger stuff. We had a wall tent out of canvas & then added a TP with all the trimmings. You enjoyed yourself with just the simple things & no stress . This video should be seen by the millions people that tow the big trailers around the world with all the comforts of their home. They bring their stress along as well then have all their liquor & /or drugs to get rid of their stress but wake up with their life the same. You have the knowledge to enjoy your life to the fullest & the pets know that you are a happy individual & they want to be with you. Keep it up & show the world what life is really like!!

I have a Luci light and the cheap ones and have found they are the same. What a good idea to use your multi tool. I love how your cat likes to camp with you. I take my cat camping with me too. She just loves it. She is Siamese. When I was a kid our Siamese cats loved to camp with us too. But mine is not a long hair so she wears her sweater and I bring her bed with the reflectix inside. Nothing like tomato soup on a cold night. You always make great food at camp. My friends who camp with me always comment on how surprised they are how good you can eat from the campfire. But I grew up cooking on wood fire, between our wood stove and fire pit in the backyard that we used in the summer so as to not heat up the house.
I really really like your videos. It's fantastic that there are still some peoples on the world, that can enjoy wild nature, away from technology, computers, etc.. Keep going. Greetings from Poland. Love You :)

Wow ... Those blow-up solar lanterns are so cool I've never seen anything quite like them before! Man do I always get to learn new things with you Brooke! I think all too many times Life can be pretty stressful and hard. I for one tried to always guard my peacefulness as much as possible. As I've mentioned before I'm really happy with the small and simple things in life. I find that as time goes by I appreciate so much more! In a world that's moving so fast, I tried to keep myself at a steady pace and avoid the hustle and bustle that most Californian folks succumb to living out here. I on the other hand live up here in the high desert where we get the four seasons here. And you can smell the earth waking up every morning, with a hint of perfume scents from the juniper trees, a bit of sage and Jasmin depending where you are in the desert. What I love most about working graveyard shift as a PSO is that I get to enjoy watching the sunrise every morning, as the sunrise marks a brand new day, which is so beautiful up here in the high desert! I think that's what I love most about working the graveyard shift ... lol. And for the most part I loved the peacefulness of the night too when my shift is uneventful. Watchin' your shows are so therapeutic and entertaining, plus peaceful! What a treat to catch several episodes of yours each night, or every chance I can get! Thanks a million Brooke, for sharing!

Totally AWESOME! and I don't mean that in a Calli way.... I was raised with bush craft and love the guys on youtube, but seeing girls posting their adventures is so cool. I have taught generations of boys and girls... I have camped with strong, independent women that loved the outdoors and it is refreshing to see more girls posting. I can't wait for Spirit Forest to set her camp in the Spring and several other posters that I hope will continue. I (in my chauvinistic way WILL open the door for you, I will hold your chair and I WILL dote on you) love that you can and WILL do it yourself! A REAL woman does not need a man.... A Real man needs a REAL woman! Keep up the good work.

...an old Croatian guy used to fish the creek near our amethyst mine. He'd always bring his cat along, it would follow him, thru the bush, up the stream while he fished for trout...he said it would always get tired and meow, so that he'd have to carry the puss on his shoulders, back to the campsite...

Girl in the woods, I just subed. I enjoy slightly like longer vids at times long as content is more real feeling, real life. Oh, I love cats, but I'm more in tune with my dog pack. Lol! That's who they feel we are! Just as well. But yeah, I really enjoy your dog with you. Trust me, if she barks and it seems out of reason, there's something she senses you may not.They even hear sounds the earth makes, mud slides, roots breaking loose from a tree. Could be anything. In over 18 years I've learned dogs will do odd behaviors to stop you, or they'll bark all weird, or they feel a sickness coming on. Just get in tune with her the most possible, I'm sure you are already, but when she looks a hard stare she's watching for you, and something is there. She'll be your best friend forever . They just can't teach us there words. Be safe take care. I don't get to the woods now days. Health issue are preventing me for now, hope not much longer. :)

If you set that sittin' log inside the shelter when you leave then it won't have snow on it next time. Diggin' that light rope, I've been wanting to get one of those. I already have several of those USB power banks I use for charging camera batteries and stuff. I have several hand crank lanterns, one with solar cells on the top. It works out pretty well, charges itself during the day, and if I use it long enough that it starts getting low I just turn the crank a few minutes and it's bright again. I lived in a Metro van for a few years (like an ice cream truck, but mine was an old flower delivery truck), I always had a cache of food in the back which usually included a few canned hams. I also have a single cup Melitta coffee filter, but I take it a step further; I have a small wooden hand crank coffee bean grinder. Waking up to a fresh ground cup of coffee when out camping is so awesome :>

I used to have a bunch of videos on youtube till they ticked me off last year and I deleted them all. There wasn't a lot of talking in them though... in real life I rarely speak. I've been told for the past 40 years or more that I should write an autobiography, even by my mother who wrote a number of books. But I really have no idea how to start that process. If I had copies of every story I've told on the internet in the past 30 or so years, and all the ones I wrote on BBS before that, I'd have a good start :>

I use those hams when I go camping. I boil potatoes and onions together, then drain most of the water, keep a bit, then add the ham and heat it all up together. Pretty good. Funny how this stuff is SO much tastier when you're starving! lol
Alaskan Butter Cougar. Lol. Not hostile unless threatened. Known to complete demolish all ration so you must keep food out of reach of this little scavenger. Very good for cuddling in cold temperatures and good company.
