The story takes place in Solistia, a land comprising an eastern and western continent divided by the sea.
It is a bustling era, wherein large vessels navigate busy sea routes and the power of steam gives birth to new technologies.
Some people thrill to glamorous stars of the stage and industry, while others are brought to tears by war, plague, and poverty.
In this faraway realm, eight travelers hailing from different regions venture forth for their own reasons. Step into their shoes and explore the land as you see fit, using their unique talents to aid you along your journey.
Embark on an adventure all your own.
KEY FEATURES
Begin your adventure as one of eight new travelers, each with their own origins, motivations, and unique skills.
The series’ HD-2D graphics, a fusion of retro pixel art and 3DCG, have reached even greater heights.
The story takes place in Solistia, where diverse cultures thrive from east to west and the industries of the new era flourish. You can sail the seas and explore every corner of a world that changes from day to night.
Each traveler has a unique set of Path Actions they can use to battle townspeople, obtain items, take others along in their travels, and more. Where will you go? What will you do? Every path is yours to take.
Familiar mechanics from the original game have been preserved, like the freedom to develop your travelers’ jobs and skills, as well as the Break and Boost system that made battles so exhilarating. New mechanics have also been added. - Hry
I also love how the ultimate cause of the trouble in Castti’s story is…. Healthcare worker burnout. Trousseau experienced such extreme compassion fatigue at seeing so much death that his mind broke and his only solution was nihilism. It’s really sad
Castti's chapter 3 is the moment I truly fell in love with her story. Prior to that point, I did not really enjoy playing Castti's story. But after that, she easily became one of my favorites
Remember that travel banter where Osvald pointed out he heard Castti talking to herself a lot to which Castti replies she has no idea what he's talking about? Yeah.
Ahhh, people keep pointing out stuff I missed because my Osvald was only in the party for his chapters, and I finished his final chapter with him still at lvl 30.
The order I got the travelers was: Temenos (protag, literally always in the party), Throne, Hikari, Agnea (2nd permament party member), and Sadly I don't remember the order I got the remaining 4. TBH, I'm not even sure that was the order, I definitely got Hikari first out of the western continent people, but I can't exactly check whether or not that was the order until the true final boss (this is octopath, there must be a way all stories intertwine).
Edit: The actual order I got people was: Temenos, Throne, Hikari, Osvald, Ochette, Castii, Partitio, Agnea. The fact my main party is Temenos, Castii, Agnea and Ochette makes this order unfortunate.
holy cow I never connected that :)
And also the travel banter with Partitio where they talk about Casti’s luck and how she feels like someone is watching over her
Fun fact one of the first hint's malaya is not real is in castti's 1st chapter Not once does anyone talk to malaya despite her being right next to castti in town.
Not only that, but someone specifically comments that Castti is the only apothecary in town at that moment, when Malaya’s standing right there.
@@musicmage4114 Yeah true :)
Now that we've reached the emotional gut punch that is Castti's chapter 3, I can finally tell you about that treasure chest right next to the spot where Jeyah and Malaya ultimately lost their lives.
It contained... Slumber Sage, an item Castti can use at night to soothe people to sleep. The devs really seem to have fun with these treasure chests.
First a fire soulstone behind Osvald's burned down house, and now this? The worst part, you're likely to pick up that chest before Castii's chapter 2.
Not just the chests. Many of the items you can get from NPCs are thematically related to the characters' info descriptions. There's a surprising amount of lore implications you can get from that, and I love that the devs put that much thought into it.
54:48 the only reason why Castii didn’t succumb to the poison is because Malaya gave her all the antidote she had on her.
While she could still get on the boat, she would inevitably die from the poison as well.
Oh god.. this chapter
I've been waiting for this chapter. This chapter left me stunned when I first did it. Trousseau whyyyy... also who did you meet that "opened your eyes"...
It's revealed in the finale. But I will tell you this, it's someone from another character's story.
Ngl I do kinda ship Castti and Malaya, especially after the snowdrop comment, which makes the whole situation even more tragic.
Don’t forget to check the other travel banters! You forgot to check the Throné ones last episode, especially Partitio’s!
I recall you saying that chapters of the Mercantile Manuscript (Sai Commerce route) would be read per episode. Is that something happening off screen? Apologies if I just missed a remark regarding it.
oh yeh good point what did happen to that.
Oh wow, I *totally* forgot lol. I'll read some for the next episode!
That so sad. ❤❤😢
it may be a good idea to capture the mushroom with ochette if their skill is mass sleep on foes.
also, how did the people know it's the eir apothecary are the one who is responsible for the deaths? even everyone in the village didn't know trousseau is the one responsible..
also also, i read/hear somewhere that raft or something of the like and then go to the sea is a very2 not good idea. the sea is very2 harsh place. no ordinary boats can challenge it.
Castii survived because she was found by an actual ship. Perhaps it was the calm season or something? Malaya wouldn't do this unless it was the only way to get her out of the rain if it meant trouble.
My guess is trousseau told people it was the eir apothecarys after leaving.
