Hear Mark Goodier present his first Pick Of The Pops back on BBC Radio 2 | 06/07/2024

Mark Goodier started his time on Pick Of The Pops on BBC Radio 2 having left Greatest Hits Radio to fill the boots of the late Steve Wright, who was set to present the show long-term from October last year.
In conversation with the BBC Media Centre, Mark said: “It’s an honour to host the iconic Pick of the Pops, although I wish it were in happier circumstances as I was friends with Steve for almost 40 years. I can’t wait to reminisce with Radio 2 listeners as we revisit two years in their lives, playing some of the best records ever made.”
The introduction of Mark to the show has triggered some changes in sound on the weekly Saturday show, largely dropping the classic theme music which continues to soundtrack the 20 to 1 countdown of the chart at the end of each hour.

Pick of the Pops is safe in the hands of Mark Goodier, subtly refreshed and will no doubts do well. Memories of his time hosting the Top 40 chart rundown on BBC Radio 1 come flooding back. Excellent choice. Well done BBC. Good to hear Mark on Radio 2, back home where he belongs.
