Ukrainian Assault On Russian Position With Proper Use Of BMP-1 Near Soledar - GroPro Helmet Cam

  • A very interesting GoPro helmet cam video from the area around Soledar shows a Ukrainian assault on a Russian held treeline under the cover of a Ukrainian BMP-1.
In the clip you can see the soldiers working together with the vehicle communicating with it via radio to advance under the cover of the BMP-1 73mm gun.
It is very interesting to see the BMP-1 in one of its intended roles namely to support and cover the advance of infantry.
The video was originally released on telegram by the SLON_FM channel.

-The German pre 1942/'43 tanks & AFV's exteriors were painted with "German Grey/Dunklegrau" RAL-7021, formerly RAL-46. A medium Grey, not really super, super, dark, nor considered light by any means. Exception being Africa Corp vehicles that had all gotten a factory applied sand color (Or they showed up to Africa grey & then got camo'd with splotches/stripes of Sand Yellow....
In '42/'43 They forewent Grey all together & substituted Dark Yellow/DunkelGelb (RAL7028). Then the crews would spray or hand paint camo schemes over the dark sand yellow with simple red primer, or RedBrown/RotBraun (RAL8017) then coats of OlivGrune/OliveGreen (RAL6003)...
-The standard German Industrial primer that was applied as a rust preventative undercoat was red-oxide undercoat that also helped to darken any topcoat a bit, even moreso if a lighter top-coat tone....
-Most all German tank interiors were painted in "Elfenbein"...German for "Ivory" (Sounds like a LOTR's character eh?;)
-Late in the war w/supply lines & industrial production so mangled n' shot-up, many of the last tanks off the lines rolled out in primer only & often stayed that way until suddenly becoming "!FLAME-ORANGE!"
Who'da thought 100 year old paint could be SO interesting?!....Yaaaawn...;)

Yeah it pretty much seems medieval tactics. I'd argue they are using the tank wrong. (and I have mechanized inf training)
BMP's are capable of carrying infantry inside they could use artillery to the position
(every company should have at least mortars available, especially when having superiority against the enemy)
And with the firesupport of artillery they could push faster over the field inside the bmp to prevent rpg shooting easily the BMP from the positions.

  • @gareththompson2708
    @gareththompson2708 Před rokem +3

I don't think I'd want to stick that close to an armored vehicle. Yes its armor will stop small arms fire just fine, but it is conspicuous and every anti-tank weapon the enemy has will be pointing at it. Not to mention that in order for a full team or squad to closely follow one armored vehicle they have to bunch up, which makes them vulnerable to mortars, artillery, or small arms fire that opens up from an unexpected angle. It provides an illusion of safety, not real safety. Tanks/IFVs and infantry do need to work closely together, but that doesn't mean they need to be physically right next to each other. The job of a tank or IFV is to provide firepower, not physical cover.

Very different ideologies. Japan was defending its homeland, just like the Ukrainians. They would happily gives their lives to honor and defend their country, and they did. That's not comparable to Russians being lied to and forced to partake in a useless war.

If they are being erratic and pose a threat, the logical course of action is to neutralize the threat. Of course in America, the cops have non lethal means of incapacition like tazers. But this is war. The difference between ukraine and Russia is, once ukraine takes prisoners they are treated decently. On Russias side, they commonly execute prisoners who have already surrendered. Big difference there. I don't necessarily blame Russians who have shot Ukrainian soldiers who weren't 100% compliant when surrendering, but shooting pows who are already captured is definitely a war crime

I did not know that you needed to give them time to surrender. It's an actual attack on a position of an attacking nation. Attacks don't work if you pass the defender of the position time to prepare and react to your attack. They demand that you put your life on the line because they might want to surrender. Is this for real? The Russian soldiers choose to be there, and decide to fight.
And you have to react fast or die. A rule every soldier knows. You have to be faster than the enemy. The Ukrainian soldiers did nothing wrong.
And in my eyes, the Ukrainians have every right to shoot every Russian soldier on Ukrainian ground for the sole reason that Russia is attacking and the Russian soldiers are consciously fighting and attacking them.

Also... enough time to surrender? How long does it take for russians to put up their hands?

Funny enough showing no mercy only encourages men on both sides to fight to the death as if they believe they will be killed or mistreated upon surrender for the sake of their own survival they will fight to live or die trying. This only gets more men KIA.

    • @ManteIIo

You're missing on a lot buddy, there are far far more horrific videos on the net, one of the most memorable was when Russians were retreating from Kiev an year ago and one of the tank crews surrendered near a highway, where they all were murdered with hands tied behind on that road, some of them had throats cut whilst the last one was still alive and they kept trying to finish him of for like 10 seconds and someone shouted shoot him in the head. Al Jazeera covered on that same spot about an week later, showing some blood stains, but they hid the truth and mentioned only about the last guy who still was alive and depicted it as a 'mercy killing' to spare him the pain, completely ignoring whole scene and the other 4 people dead next to him with visibly showing tied hands behind their backs. Or Mariupol murder on the stair case where dude made some speech infront of camera, pulled bag off the head of captive Russian, showed him a knife and second later stabbed into the eye, proceeding murdering him for the other min, those death screams will never leave your head afterwards. Also another video from last year showed about 15 Russian POWs being shot in legs and as they were all bleeding to death, were ridiculed, one guy passed out infront of camera as they cruelly were interrogating him and the others, I don't know whether he died at that moment or just fainted. But to end this, although I haven't seen direct execution of Ukrainian forces (except during active combat), I think both sides aren't innocent. War is hell.

2:50 there’s no controversy since the procedure of handcuffing and disarming has not finished. There are number of videos where russian soldiers pretend they give up and then start shooting or throwing grenades.
