    2 chanteurs à la voix éminemment puissante nous rendent forcément nostalgiques tant il est difficile d'avoir l'équivalent aujourd'hui. Ces 2 grands artistes unissent leur technique vocale incroyable et leur "urgence" communicative. Que d'émotions devant cet investissement musical et théâtral bien qu'en situation de concert.
    Merci à jamais.

      Agreed. Now we have messes like Netrebko singing Turandot at La Scala (they should be ashamed of themselves for allowing that crap).
      This is exciting- and it’s lacking in opera these days, with very few exceptions.

    I first heard this duet in college in a live concert with Domingo and Scotto in Houston and was completely blown away...I cried like a baby. I bought their full recording of the opera the next day. Thank God Marton and Giacomini sang the last part of the duet in the original key without transposition down! For me, the duet never catches fire unless it's in the original key!

    • @ER1CwC
      @ER1CwC Před rokem

      @@morisilweindal2848 Corelli usually sang it in the original key. Whenever he sang it transposed, it was for the soprano. But yes, MDM always sang it transposed, except in studio.

    As usual you are totally 100% correct. The thrill and excitement you get from voices like this is why opera was more popular at this time. Not the hotness, not the staging, not the silly contemporary diretion. Powerhouse voices that tingled your spine and raised the hair on your arms. Awesome.

    That is SOOOO thrilling ! Two magnificent singers, perfect for this particular duet, singing their heart out ! Giacomini possessed a beautiful, very baritonal voice. Perhaps not ideal for the rest of the opera, which pictures Andrea as a youthful, sensitive man : think of Carreras, who sang (and recorded) the role at the very limit of his vocal power, but so moving and attractive, and of course of Corelli, the epitome of vocal sex-appeal. As for Eva Marton, she is here at her very best, and that is saying a lot.

    EVA MARTON y GIUSEPPE GIACOMINI interpretan el Dueto de Amor culminante de la Opera ANDREA CHENIER, del compositor italiano Umberto Giordano, basada en un texto literario en el contexto de la Revolución Francesa. Este dueto retrata el sacrificio de dos amantes que entregan sus vidas para salvar a una madre inocente. La música es altamente descriptiva, en cada pasaje se refleja la intensidad del momento que se aproxima, cuando las sombras de la noche se desvanecen con el alba. La suprema magnificencia de las voces, la fuerza expresiva de la orquesta y los redobles atronadores hacen de este cuadro un final de ópera como pocos se han escrito en el catálogo de cuadros musicales intensamente dramáticos.

    Both of these artists sing VERY well in this clip. Marton is hardly wobbling here! Her vibrato was always a little thick, but in her prime in the opera house it was stunning. Giacomini was so underrated (because of the big three). You know, at this moment you would not hear anything close to this at the MET. It's just the truth. Jonas Kauffman is the closest we have and I love hearing him, but most of the tenors now are either "buzz-saw" tenors or hoarse pushers. Sad!
