    For general street defence this is great. The knee up does set up power for the other leg

    Bro sometimes I feel smooth kicking but my muscles or my groin muscles have a pull when I try to do it again so should I focus on doing the splits for a better/ comfortable kick. I get a little scared when trying to stretch my groin muscles while kicking the bag or opening the hips ? Idk. guess it’s just stretching ?

      good day, im also a policeman from the philippines, i have the same issue with flexibility, but if you stretched regularly you will see results eventually but not instantly. Go to a gym, find a muay thai coach and train religiously. good luck.

  • @nickstevensmartialarts8914

    Great video! I have a question though and I mean no disrespect but doesn't it telegraph to you opponent that you're going to kick if you lift your right knee up before you throw the left leg kick every time?

    • @ThaiBoxKhom
      @ThaiBoxKhom  Před 6 lety +13

      If opponent kick you to the body you have to blocking and return kick back :)

      ThaiBoxKhom- Oh ok, so it's a shin check and then fallow up with a counter kick. Nice. Great video.

      @ender1260 Před 6 lety

      Yep! The way I've been trained, the heavy bag is more for working on power, and shadow boxing is more for refining technique, but it's good practice to always be thinking of an opponent when you train any kind of strike. Get in the habit of not just throwing a single kick from the same position, but doing footwork around the bag, pretending to block and return kicks, move with the bag like it was an opponent, use the changing distance as the bag swings to gauge your strikes, figure out what you can do at what ranges against a moving target, and ultimately, train until it becomes muscle memory, so basic strikes, setups, and checks don't really require a lot of thought in the moment when you need them.

      What he is doing is blocking the leg kick with his right and then counter with the left. Just one exercise in countering.

    Should the foot touch the bag at all ? Or no

    • @JD-oe5uc
      @JD-oe5uc Před 5 lety +1

      Zezo no, you kick with your shin, otherwise you will destroy your foot. Your foot might touch it a little bit after the first impact due to some flexing around the bag

  • @stevenwatson4865
    @stevenwatson4865 Před 5 lety +1

    To telegraphic should just come up from ground turning hip over it will generate more power your losing the whipping action of hip flexors but that’s just my theory

      Its not that Americans don't understand it, its Americans having shitty ass trainers that are in for the buck. Every single Muay Thai gym in America is a fucking scam. This what a real trainer should be, teaching the science behind the kick and not taking someones hard earn money and let them hit the bag anyway they want.
      The American Muay Thai gym shows pictures off mostly women on their site to attract.
      Muay Thai is a poor mans sport in Thailand, in America its a luxury sport.
      Have you seen all those Muay Thai gym videos about Thailand? they all look like sales pitches. I actaully learn more on CZcams than the Muay Scam gym I attended. The contract is what shows how hungry they want to be just to have money stolen from your account.
