You should always keep applying to jobs until you sign an offer letter.
I agree! You never know until itâs over!
And after, as I recently learned
@@aw8577 it's always best to think that you did not get the job. That way when really don't get the job, you really not disappointed.
Same, Iâve been learning this!
@Aw same. Had an offer and was waiting for 8 months for oversight approvals. Then in January the offer was rescinded.
I GOT THE JOB!!!
As a person on the autism spectrum it's very hard to read of interviews went well or badly. I really appreciate this guidance
I also have autism
It is a feeling
I have had many interviews that I objectively thought went really well, the vibe was great, I was well prepared and I left the interview feeling really good, interviews that checked off most if not all the boxes you shared. Interviews where the hiring manager/interviewer in some cases tells me they liked me so much that they were going to set up follow-up calls with their team (exactly what you said) and even named specifically who I would be meeting. I feel great and eagerly anticipate and prepare for ânext steps.â Then I get email a week or so later saying they did not feel I was strong candidate or they wanted to go âin a different direction.â Which makes no sense as it did not line up with the conversation/interview. Iâve learned to keep looking no matter how good the interview goes.
You may have had a good interview but someone else might have had an outstanding interview.
Same thing happened to me too many times over the past year.
Sometimes the interviewers were just being polite. The fact is you are not that good as what you thought it was
@@tingting8586âThe fact is you were not that good as what you thought it was.â I think an objective third party would have to have been in the room watching the interview to make that determination, buddy. Interviews and the hiring process overall is a very subjective process. You can be really good and still not get selected for a variety of reasons.
Happened to me a couple of times. From what I take it, the interviewer can like you as a person but not as a candidate for the job. Last interview I did was at the beginning of August. Everything was going well until I asked if they have other time slots because I returned to college and I'm studying at night, and well, good news I'll be able to finish the college, bad news I'll only be able to get a job next year because no one wants to hire someone who is in college. And if it's for internships they don't accept people who are in their last semester
My experience as a jobseeker, especially in the past 2 years and a half, is that recruiters think that their time is extremely valuable and yours is not, e.g.: they reach out to you, you respond promptly and they simply disappear. Besides that, I don't understand why they never give you feedback and you specialists usually say that it is bad to ask for feedback. I mean, we all want to improve in everything in life, not only in professional life, so why can't you let me know what went wrong so I could improve in the next ones???
YESSSSSS!!
They aren't honest with feedback anyway,
I think one thing to remember, especially in Uber competitive interviews where only one candidate is hired. Sometimes an interview can go well and you still wonât get the job.
Definitely. And there are many reasons why great candidates donât get the job.
@@BenTalksTalent Yes! So true...there may be reasons that have absolutely nothing to do with us. For example...companies just going through the required motions of interviewing, when they already have someone in mind.
@@dama_shares that one is really frustrating.
this is my biggest concern rn, I wish this place I interviewed at was hiring atleast 2 candidates. Only one means I truly had to be the best of the best.
This describes my field exactly. There's only ever one person hired for the job.
I had a Zoom interview with 2 people, and one excused themselves to another appointment. It was unfortunate because I really vibed with the person who stayed, but she was clearly not the decision maker. Long story short, I was ghosted by the employer. They didn't let me know either way if they would be moving forward, which to me is very unprofessional.
In my experience that is the kiss of death. I had that happen to me many times, sometimes they leave mid interview, sometimes they are late, some times one of the interviewers cannot make it. 100 percent did not get the job in any of those cases.
You dodged a bullet. Iâm sorry that happened to you. Very unprofessional from them
I passed and got hired in a government sector of my country. these are true indicators!
You got the job is there only good sign. Thatâs it!
I interviewed with a company that I thought was a great fit for me and my prayers were being answered. I interviewed with the recruiter, hiring manager and physician. I hit all the positive signs. The physician even gave me great feedback! Do you know how hard it is to answer clinical questions with a physician? She told me I did great and I should hear something with in a week! The recruiter sounded excited in her emails. My last step with was a â meet and greetâ. I was told by the hiring manager to see if this job was a great fit for me... A bunch of BS! Itâs an interview! The employees at the office spoke to me as if I was going to be hired. Until She mentioned that âYou are the last oneâ. Sighs... I send my thank you letter the night and morning... đŚ đŚđŚ Never heard back! I know for a fact those employees played a demise in getting this job!
The employees even told me when I arrived that they really liked me (Hiring manager, Physician and Recruiter). She stated that she liked me too! Only thing I can think of itâs the employees feed back to the hiring manager or the client in between.I think itâs unprofessional for employers to act like they are going to hire you and then ghost you. Candidates listen up! There are no positive signs, the only one...you are hired! đŻ

*their* sign, not there
I interviewed for a technical project coordinator for a marketing firm. They had me do a presentation on process change that lasted 2 hours⌠That assignment took me my weekend so that I could be prepared and make a good impression. Iâll never do an assignment again for a company.
I can see how that would be frustrating
Ben this is SPOT on sir. I just interviewed with a company that hired me in a three step interview process. First was a web interview with the recruiter that found me. Second was a web interview with the VP and program director of the division Iâd be working if they were interested followed by a in person interview with the program director and two new people who would be my direct reporting supervisors if hired. And Iâd say about 8 out of 10 of these things happened. The interview was first your standard interview questions, then got light hearted and off topic for a bit about football and what my interests were outside of work. They are looking to see if you are a âculture fitâ for the company. The program director then asked something you may not have touched on. He concluded the interview talking about how long it generally takes to get an offer letter and inquired âdo you have any other offers on the table?â Thatâs a CLEAR sign they like you bc they want to make sure they either have or donât have competitors for you. I asked for 95k annual. They answered 2 days later with an offer letter for well over my ask and into 6 figures. Great video my guy.
Congratulations
I have had all the positive signs that you mentioned and didnât get an offer and also situation where I received all the negative signals and still received the offer đ¤ˇââď¸đ¤ˇââď¸đđ
Thatâs pretty funny. I wonder what is going on in your interviews lol
Itâs not an exact sciences, it just most indicators.
Sometimes, they choose someone else more appropriate for the role.
All these good things happened, still didn't get hired. Really hard to tell sometimes, will keep my head up, great video
I got an interview for my dream job two days ago and according to your video, it doesnât look good for me. I hope Iâll hear from them soon, whether the answer is positive or negative.
Well I hope you get it!
Did you get it?
@@denisenoles3159 i did not :/
Just from my experience in job hunting, if the recruiter wants you to take a drug screening test, you can pretty much assume you've gotten the job. . . providing you pass it! Because those tests cost a lot of money, they only make candidates take them if they intend to hire them. Consider that the "final hurdle" in the hiring process. WORD OF WARNING: Don't eat a poppy-seeded bagel before the drug test because it will show up as an opioid on the test. It has happened to me and others.
Totally agree George!
For what job? Not every job has a drug testing test
It happened to Elaine on "Seinfeld".
my last interview was 2 hours, fumbled a few questions but I think I had great conversation with the interviewers.
i got the job......the key is confidence
Congrats Jesus!
I had a 60 minute interview today with an employer and she seemed very impressed with my answers and research of the company. I asked three questions at the end of the interview. She asked me my salary expectations and my ideal locations to work at and she said she would let me know the outcome next week. When I got đĄ I sent her an email thanking her for interviewing me. Fingers crossed đ¤
You did everything you could Justice! Love it! Thatâs what you need to do as a candidate, check all the boxes and hope it works on your favor!
Hey! Any updates? I hope you got a nice outcome. Even if you didn't get the job, congratulations for taking on that challenge :)
@@moniso2277 got it next day.
Did you get the job?
you really spent time to find home emoji instead of just typing 'home'? Bruh
Thank you for the video! I got several of the signs you mentioned (I even got told by the person who would be my supervisor If I had got the job that they would be delighted to have me in their team, so I was like oh well things are looking good), and the people I interviewed actually replied to my emails asking what each interview will be about and even my thank-you emails. I had the final interview with the head of support that went well in my opinion, and they told me the recruiter will get in touch with me in three days, and they all have gone silent since. That did not stop me from looking elsewhere, of course, but given the efforts I made during the process, I'm really gutted.
Well it sounds like there were a lot of good signs! Hopefully you get it. One thing I have learned on recruiting is that things never move as quick as we would like, so hope isnât lost. But I always advise people to keep applying!
@@BenTalksTalent oh wow I didn't expect you to actually reply, that's so cool, thank you so much! I'll follow your advice and also pretend I didn't get the job to avoid being disappointed in case I get a rejection email đ

Without having a Bachelor Degree, I am happy to say that I have a 90% success rate when it comes to interviews. I have worked for 7 different companies with 8 years of work experience and i am only 25. Employers value my experience, but I won't be able to land that dream job without a Bachelor Degree. So back to school I guessđ
I have an amazing success rate too, like I get the interviews and the offers. Jobs literally fall in my lap and I get to pick what offer I want. I have 10 years retail experience and an AA, a happy go lucky go getter attitude personality and the big bosses really enjoy my bubbly personality and customer oriented attitude
Don't they worry that being at so many companies in so many years might mean that you have no "staying power" and might not commit to them long term either?
Itâs basically dating

So I had an interview a few days ago, and it went on for 40 minutes and we talked and laughed about things, and he said we will DEFINITELY be in touch. He emphasized the definitely. He didnât tell me anything about other interviews happening. I havenât heard anything back yet. Iâm nervous.
Sometimes it just takes longer than expected. I hope you get it!
Just finished my interview it was in Arabic & english as soon as I walked in there were 9 interviewers sitting infornt of me I panicked but 2 minutes in I gathered myself and it went like melted butter
Awesome! That can be intimidating but once you settle down, you can rely on your prep and great answers. I hope you get it Bilal!
I wish I would have found your channel earlier. You give fantastic advice. You deserve quadruple the views!
I had a series of interviews recently. I totally crashed and burned on the first round. I was so nervous , I think I had a mini panic attackâŚhaha. I donât interview much and this was/is my dream company.
During the first half of the first round I was horrible but I was able to turn it around and went over the 45 min. Second and third rounds were pretty smooth.
I was expecting a call from the recruiter saying âsorry but..â but she said they were all positive and now we need to schedule a âfitâ interview. So looks like Iâm still in the running.
Sounds like you are still in the running. Glad you found it too!
If a recruiter asks you about compensation and are you interviewing anywhere else it doesn't mean nothing as recruiters just want to find out how fast to move you in the process so they don't potentially miss out on you and compensation is to check that they can afford you. But if anyone else other than the recruiter asks u about whether you are interviewing elsewhere or how much compensation you are expecting then that is a good sign
I am a recruiter, so I can say with certainty that if and how it is asked matters.
Asking for more is a genius idea. Thanks dude
Thanks bro!
The interview I had yesterday seemed more like a conversation than a Q&A.
Thatâs usually a positive too
â@@BenTalksTalentMy last two jobs came from interviews like that.
Hey! I had my initial interview for talent acquisition on Monday with the senior TA team, they seemed really impressed and an hour after my interview they set up a meeting with the TA team that would be my peers. That interview went really great as well and they complimented me a lot. I followed up with the recruiter and she said âhey Rudy, I heard your interview went great. We are doing more interviews this week and hope to have an update for you by next week.â Do you think this is a good sign?
Did you get an offer back? and also how long did you wait till you contacted the recruiter for an update on the position. I'm currently waiting for either a offer or denied position back from tesla had a phone call interview and also a in person interview this Monday the 21 which I feel both went well but I dont want to contact the recruiter too soon and seem to buggy or desperate for the position.
@@SlyFitty I didnât get chosen which shocked me. I waited 1 week after my 2nd interview to follow up. Good luck!
When it's time your time to ask questions ask what is the best thing about working for the company. If they are enthusiastic then it's a good sign if they are not and give a generic answer then it is bad. I had 2 interviewers and when i asked that question one of the guys said their thoughts snd the other interviewer didn't even answer and just said yeah same i defer to my colleague. That's when i knew it's game over
Right, you can tell they arenât enthusiastic or if they are passionate!
Hi Ben! Ty. I have been on numerous interviews since I got laid off on June 24th. This was very helpful! It is exhausting to go on numerous rounds of interviews but your video has helpedcme deal with this! Thank you!!! Holly
Itâs a marathon but youâve got this Holly! Let me know if there is ever a topic I can make a video on for you!
Love your content, I have been binge watching! đ
Can you do one video on follow-up communication after the interview frum candidate's perspective?
Thank you Alexandra! Absolutely!
I had one that was just perfect cause the interviewer and I clicked on what the company needed and what the perspective I had to offer.
I passed all 10 signs but haven't heard back yet. Will give you guys an update hopefully soon.
Many of these signs still got rejected. Feedback was we had so many candidates we got overwhelmed and apply to other career opportunities. Hate when companies take you for the ride.
Ah man, I am sorry Saad. I hate that too.
Yeah when they just watse your time & already have an inside hire ready.
Ben ! I need tips on how to
Land a great interview to get a supervisor job with Costco . You helped me land my first one with Costco and Iâm counting on you .
Unfortunately I donât have those questions or Iâd help. I hope you get it!
I had an interview once where there were two of them in the room.
One of them loved me, and was impressed by my resume and experience. He mentioned it six times. He really liked the answers to my questions too.
The other was more stern and didn't show how he felt. He robotically asked questions and showed no emotion. I asked who I would work with (I was hoping it was the enthusiastic guy).
Anyway, I didn't get the job. I bet the interviewer with no personality was the one behind not hiring me.
Just had an interview, three interviewers sat down and i felt really stressed out!! With 3 papers all with questions. I did not expect that.
Did they not tell you it would be a panel interview before you started?
@@BenTalksTalent I was told possibly two ppl. Then walks in 3 lol. They said if i could deal with them, i could deal with anyone walking in the door lol
I had a second interview with my would be manager. She said at the end that I sound promising and that she would reconnect with HR. See said not to worry if I don't hear back right away because HR is notoriously slow lol. I was chuckling because I never heard someone call out their HR department. Overall, it sounds like she had buying signs.
It sounds pretty good to me Jonathan. Those processes can take a bit, thatâs not uncommon.
@@BenTalksTalent Thanks! How long should I wait to follow up since she said the HR is slow? Also, I just got let go from my current employer, should I tell them I'm available?
@@jonathan6480 I would say about a week.

I had a first screening interview scheduled for 30 mins last 16 minutes . I answered every question succinctly and too the point , was very personable , they answered all my questions in detail and they smiled the whole time , they ended up telling me about the role in detail of what I would do and how their culture is competitive . Is it bad it only lasted 16 minutes ?
Not necessarily. If everything else was possible, perhaps it was just an efficient interview.
@@BenTalksTalent thank you so much for your response ! I just the checked the zoom log , it lasted 22 minutes . Man overthinking really gets you !
Thank you :) had an interview today. I thought it was funny lol
I feel like i got mixed signals. Mostly i felt the interview honestly went well, it went over the planned time (30 minutes went to 40), and they even conmplimented me on my abilities, and allowed me to ask 4 questions at the end (still asked if i had more) and mostly answered in detail. But at the end, they didnt mention the next steps at all...just said thank you and that was it.
Thank you for the insights, super helpful. I just finished a final round interview. The interviewer contradicted my answers initially and tried correcting what I said. Later at the end of the interview, he explained to me in detail about the team and what work they do. He closed the interview by asking me if I have any considerations for this role and when I am available to join. So I am kind of confused in terms of how the interview went. Your take on this will be super helpful. Thanks.
Awesome video and with these recent interviews I've had over the past week they were 20 to 30 min teams interviews, first time a Manger message me back saying that got great feedback from the interview, and another one said it was a pleasure to meet you indeed! And they did mention next steps and a tour but they have a large pool of candidates as well so im not putting my eggs all in one basket also the general manager interviewed me as well saying he loved my resume
My pay expectations is a question they should be asking in the initial application. When the interview comes they should already know whether that will be a show-stopper or not.
Iâm in the final stages of the interview process where the second interview we talked about football most of the time.
Thatâs probably a pretty good sign! Hope you get it!!!
I had a final interview today and I interviewed with a panel of 3 people. I feel that i just made a mistake midway through the interview, and I donât know how that affected things so even though it was my dream job, Iâm going to go ahead and apply for other jobs
Ben is so articulate...and worryingly handsome
Thatâs that first time Iâve ever heard that lol, thanks!
I just interviewed with a small company for a manufacturing engineer co-op position. They had a senior manufacturing engineer and someone who is in my role. The interview and tour lasted about 5 minutes more than the expected 90. The senior engineer, who Iâd estimate is around 25, did a lot more talking. He had highlighted in several sections in my resume, and asked questions about everything in my experience and interest sections. He seemed to show approval and interest of my answers to these questions by nodding and complimenting at least one aspect of not only my answers, but also the content of the experience section.
I walked out confident, but then I watched your video on signs that you didnât get the job. After a Q&A from me at the end of the interview, he finished with âWeâll be in touchâ. You labeled that as a red flag, but I felt really good about how he made connections between my rĂŠsumĂŠâs experience section and the job.
Any tips for my remaining 18 interviews (some virtual and phone calls) over the next two weeks?
Thanks for the great videos!!
Honestly, sometimes these signs donât 100% indicate outcome. It sounds like most of what you shared is positive. I have plenty of advice videos but generally be positive and well researched!
18 interviews? Remaining? đł
@@alexanderthegreat1506 Yeah. I go to Drexel University, which has the best co-op program in the US. There is a maximum of 35 jobs that I can send my resume to and request an interview. Naturally, I requested all 35 to maximize my chances. Unlike the last cycle (There are three short cycles where I request interviews by sending employers my resume, they either accept or decline my interview request, then out of the interviews that go well, I choose the position and company I like best. In this cycle (2/3), I had to schedule 20 interviews in just 10 business days đĽľ
On my most recent interview i probably had 8 of those signs. I dont think I got it because the most important one was missing, they did not setup the last 2 interviews within 48 hours. I already had 3 and an psych test as well. I have not heard from them in 10 days now.
Hey Ben I just finished my virtual interview with the hiring manager at Apple. Honestly he didnât look happy at all when I first saw him and he looked angry. He seemed as if he just wanted to get straight to the point about things. But there were some signs that did spark a sense of interest. He smiled a lot at my answers and he seemed as if he was in a better mood at the end of the conversation. But Iâm not sure if it went well or not, it was a little hard to tell.
Keep me updated! It can be hard to tell!
@@BenTalksTalent Yea I will but how long do they usually take to email someone?

Tbh doesn't look like a good sign to be unless there is anything else
@@ninjaninja9954 yea I didnât get it. But after doing some research on the manager it turns out there were a lot of red flags sadly
This is a great video! I think I've hit most of the signs (going ~7 minutes longer, giving positive feedback when I asked comments on my performance, did small talks and chatted a bit on travel plans), but there're also some obvious bad signs (not replying to my thank-you note after being connected with the interviewer on LinkedIn, pretty incoherent interview questions, almost as if he was thinking of some on the spot, and I have some basic technical questions wrong). How should I go about my interview, and should I reach out to the interviewer again? I'm interviewing for an internship at a large financial institution for the context
It becomes harder to figure out when itâs a mixed bag. I always tell people to follow up after a week or so, be very polite. And if nothing, give it another week and follow up again. If nothing, move on.
thanks! this is so helpful
You are welcome Kim!
Your channel is so good! Thank you for these amazing videos!
Hi Ben! I like your video by the way. On the contrary, what happens to me is the opposite. All that you mentioned were correct at first. I believe all these signs of interest before until I got some interviews that changes everything. For instance, the interviewer were happy, took you so long to be interrogated, asked you about your expected salary, toured you at the place., and asked if I have questions in mind. After a day or 2, the interviewer messaged me that they will not continue with my application. It was so depressing and frustrating back then. You will never expect this to happen after this interviewer showed signs of interest. I can probably say it all depends on the hiring manager and HR, and do not expect much from the signs. By the way, I am not trying to be pessimistic about this. I just wanted to share my experiences that even they show signs, do not expect from it because there might also other factors that they might not consider with your application. I rather keep on applying other jobs until the offer letter comes.
Hi Kenzo! I agree, never stop until you get the actual offer!
Longer interviews have no weight. At least in my experience, I had one interview that was 2 hours long on the initial interview, and another job interview that was 90 minutes long both resulted in no job.
I would tend to disagree as someone who interviews all the time. Itâs not 100% but there typically is correlation.
@@BenTalksTalent Well from my personal experience in two different careers the 2 hour interviews I had resulted in no job and my time wasted.

Hi Ben, I recently interviewed with a Fortune 500 company a day ago. For the first time, the recruiter called me today (all our interactions have been email in brief). She called with enthusiasm and wanted to ask questions related to the role I just interviewed for. Since it was a final round she asked these questions:
What is your salary range if we place an offer what are you looking for?
If offered , do you have restrictions or need to give a two week notice?
She said we should have a decision made in a day or two. She even sent over the benefits guide for me to review benefits⌠đŽ and said so far things are looking positive.

Hi Ben! So, I had my last interview with the hiring team recently, and I was complimented on a couple of occasions. Also, the manager I'd be working with cracked a joke in reaction to a situation I gave, which I'm not sure is a good indication. While asking inquiries, they mentioned that a relocation allowance is included in the package, something I had never heard of before, as well as the part concerning career progression. In addition, the manager attempted to relate to a topic he posed and elaborated on it. I did receive replies to my thank you note within minutes from the recruiter and the following day of the interview from one of the hiring team members. I'm not sure if that's typical or if I should view that as a good indicator?

Thanks Ben, this role definitely hit different and is a huge stepping stone in my professional career.
@@crumbed_cutlets exciting. Let me know what happens.
Got the job! Thanks for the advice mate!
I had this interview which i got alot of buying signs. I was almost sure I'm getting the job only to get an email later that i didn't secure the position.
Hey Ben, thank you for the videos. What if you pass the 1st interview with a staffing agency, then you have a 2nd interview with the client and you are told by the staffing agency you will be meeting with the VP, and Operations Manager, but, you get there and you end up being interviewed by the human resource manager instead. What's your take?
I had an interview today (wednesday) the interview went the whole allocated time however they did not talk about the next steps, and they said they would let me know the outcome by next week. From the advise you have given it sounds like they werent very interested in me =( I'm just hoping i end up being their best option lol!
I hope so too Morgana! But it can be tough to tell!
How did it go, any update?
Thank you for those insights.
You are welcome Dr!
Hi Ben, I wouldâve loved for you to give us a response to the question regarding if you are job searching elsewhere.
I can do that!
I just had my interview done and I want to ask if I did right or wrong, 1. It went without any flaws, I mean the time was well maintained and I could reply their all the questions. 2. They appreciated my passion and knowledge at the end of the session. 3. In the technical part of the interview I could ace them with my technical knowledge. 4. They said I was the first one they are interviewing and they would need a week for the next step. But they said to me that HR will come back to me by next week.
I am not quite sure whether they would take this to the next stage or not
Sounds good from what you say. But time will tell. Good luck!
I just finished a teams interview with the zone manager and district manger. I would say every indicator with exception of maybe 1 happened in my interview. Before the end of the interview they flat out said I was a top tier candidate and that I would be meeting the VP of sales next week. Now I am freaking out! Great video any advice for the home stretch in the interview process?
What if they dont ask for your salary expectation?
What about indicators that it went well when you do a group interview with other candidates?
Great question! I am actually going to do a series on panel interviews coming up here. But a quick one is overall group engagement, when everyone is participating enthusiastically thatâs a good one. Some of the same rules from the video apply as well!
thanks for the advice
You are welcome Tyler!!!
I applied for a job and they want a police check.
Now, I have no criminal record, but to get a police record check takes a bit of time (you have to provide a bit of documentation) and costs $50.
I am on welfare and that is a steep cost for a job I haven't got yet.
In the past, I have only needed to provide it once I got the job first.
Should I spend this money for a job I haven't gotten yet?
Itâs tough, is it a job you really want?
You are Spot On!
Thank you!
Hi Ben. Should you ask the recruiter/hiring manager if and how many other candidates they are interviewing? Should you ask this before the interview, so you can decide whether attending the interview is worth the effort?
Let me cover this in a video. I wouldnât ask about other candidates, but timeline is fair game!
I wouldnât accept defeat right out of the gate. If you want the job you have to get it!
@@a-a-ronbrowser1486 No this is about using your time wisely. As a candidate, why would I waste my time interviewing, if they are going to give the job to someone else?
I had my interview Wednesday with the GM of a company. He seemed super busy. He even walked out twice to take a phone call. But it was toward the end of our interview. He seemed engaged, but He seemed pressed with other issues. The first two rounds were great. But this last one left me nervous. I was told I have a possible next round of interviews with HR. It was worded âI may or may not have another interviewâ.
Did you get the job
@@anngeemillette I didđ but then I got a better offer lol
@@jeremeysmith3322 that is awesome, congratulations
Had a first round interview with the manager that I would report to. It was a first stage out of a 3 stage interview and scheduled as a "Introduction call". It seemed like we had a flowing conversation about the industry and what they do as a company, but he only asked me 3 questions. "Why I want to work at that industry", "What I know of them" and "Why I want to work for them". He had another interview scheduled for a completely different position right after, so did not have time to go over. We hardly spoke about the role itself and at the end he was like "You have 1 minute left, any more questions?" and I asked 1 or 2 more questions about the role and then asked him (I had a lot more prepared, but the time flew by), if he can see me in the next step. He said, I need to speak to the talent acquisition person. I tried to get more info and asked him, what he needs to move forward with this and he said again, I should just reach out to the TA person.
Later I had a look at the calendar invite again and it said that it is supposed to be an open conversation and a chance for me to ask questions about the role. Seems like I missed the boat there, not taking the initiative to atually talk about the role, rather than their technology and what they do?
When he asked me, if I had more questions, I also countered and was like "Well, is there anything you want to know about me?", his response was "This is just an introductory call."
Interesting. Some mixed signals there Christoph. Let me know what happens.
@@BenTalksTalent Came back saying, they already had a few candidates that may fit the role better.
@@manbok2035 ah man. Iâm sorry.
Please evaluate mine one please:
I had an interview recently. The interviewer asked me about my expected salary. Then I told him how much I want. Then after a little bit of negotiation,he agreed with mine just because of he was listening to my answers, seemed happy and eager while listening. He said me that I am selected. At the end, I showed some nervousness while asking for his introduction and about any other facilities that will I get or not. Then I thank him and left the room.
Now, I can't understand what does it mean by "I am selected and donât get any call".
Hard to tell. Sounds mostly good but I canât call it based on that info.
This is such a calming video.đ
I am very rarely described as calm lol
@8:55 my favorite part of the interview
Well I applied to a company and made it to final round, and then it was time they give me an offer letter, first they ghosted then told me to wait as they were renovating and will give joining letter 2-3 days before actual joining, and at the end I get an email saying they canât move forward as their financial condition isnât good. That was really unethical. It sad to see shitty companies like this exist.
Just interviewed yesterday. They spent most of the time selling the job to me. Interview ended abruptly with, "if you have more questions call Billie". I called 1/2 hour later and left her a message saying I was interested. I'm waiting now.
That sounds mostly positive Craig!
What is a good way to respond to the question regarding if you're intervewing elsewhere? I always find this question a little off-putting. It seems very invasive when asked up front.
I may need to make an entire video on the subject. Itâs a hard one to answer and depends on the situation. I will get this video out!
It can be a good negotiating tactic.
Also, it is a strong indicator of interest or not.
If they want you, they will get back to you ASAP.
If they don't follow up, they are not interested.
If you say to the company you have given another offer but want to work for the company interviewing you, and you have put the other offer on hold "to think about it", they will get back to you ASAP with a counter offer if they really want you. If not, take the other job.
What if you had a interview when they are scoring you and reading questions off paper and straight to the point?
They probably are pretty inexperienced.
Can anyone evaluate mine please? My first ever interview. I've been stressing out on this.
Mine was a one way video interview, one way meaning that I had my camera and audio on but they had just their audio on. I initially had my camera off because theirs was off but I turned it on at their request and they apologized for not turning theirs on because they were sick with the cold.
And that was yesterday.
So...
1) How long was it? 30 minutes (the exact time specified)
2) They've scoured your resume and stuff? No I don't think so, because they approached me for the interview, I didn't send them a resume or portfolio (although I did send them one earlier this year about a different position that I didn't get, so maybe they retained that application).
3) Opportunity to ask questions? Yes, towards the end, I did ask 1 and they clarified the question.
4) How interested were they in my answers? I'm not so sure, but I can say that they weren't counting to the time remaining for this session. They did ask 1 or 2 follow ups.
5) Time to connect or was it a strict q and a? Nope, was a straight q and a.
6) Did they discuss next steps? Yeah, I didn't ask but they told towards the end. They said something in the lines of: so after speaking with me, I'll be giving these info that I've collected from you to the division manager and, you may be speaking with the company's division manager based on whether or not they approve it, I'll update you on the status..
7) Did they respond well to any asks? From your explanation of the question, I assume that should come up in the subsequent interview, this is the first interview so no, I have no response to that.
8) How eager were they to open up lines of communication? I'd say average I guess... They're just a recruiter, not the person I'm gonna work for.
9) Did they bring anyone else in? Nope it's just a 1 on 1 video call.
10) Panel interview? Nope just a 1 on 1.
11) Are you interviewing elsewhere? Didn't come up.
Basic summary:
I was answering the questions, and I felt like a part of me blacked out after about 7 minutes in because I didn't really know that it was a job interview, I was under the impression that it was a contract role so I didn't really prepare much. But I did answer the questions sincerely with short summary answers but not deep enough to sweep them off their feet. And from what I could hear, the interviewer sounded sick(with cold, cough and catarrh) before and during the interview.
They did ask about salary expectations, and I told them.
Overall it sounds very positive. Them reaching out to you is a good thing. I would ask more than one question in the future. The next step stuff sounds good too. Good luck!!!
@@BenTalksTalent Thanks! I feel a bit relieved. I'll definitely prepare for the next step if there's any.
+1 sub.
@@lemetamax sounds great! And thank you!
@@BenTalksTalent I didn't get it. And the interviewer also refused to tell me why.
I'm fed up of trying so hard and getting no where. I don't wanna be stuck in retail forever
The next steps talk I have had and I didin't got the job so I don't consider that a good sign
Hmm.. what does it mean if the assistant manager interviews you and then brings in the manager at the end to meet you and then gives you a schedule ( it's not a 9:00 to 5:00 job) and then tells you the manager will be calling you that evening after she speaks to the owner. And then the manager never calls. You have to call back the next day repeatedly to get the manager. It's possible you're starting working 2 days according to the schedule they gave you. And the manager gets on the phone finally and tells you that she appreciates all the effort you made to come and do the interview but they're going to seek other candidates for the job. What does that mean? More specifically why would they do that?
Man itâs hard to say. A few mixed messages there. What ended up happening?
@@BenTalksTalent they did not hire me. They just said they are going to continue to seek other candidates for the job and appreciated me taking the time to come in and interview.
@@JackfnHammered ah man, Iâm sorry.
i had an interview with apple yesterday but they said theyâll get back to us in about a week! Iâm not sure how I did even though I watched all the videos of why I could not get the job so iâm just kind of waiting.
It can be really hard to know how an interview went from the perspective of another. Good luck Nava!
I was meant to be interviewed by one person, on the day the manager just informed me it would be 2 people.
They asked me so many questions, then I had an exercise. After the exercise only one person came back. I am not sure what that meansđ˘.
I honestly ask what the pay range is before wasting my time on a interview⌠Iâve had some wanting to pay me unlivable pay right after finishing an interviewâŚ
I donât blame you, itâs easy to waste time.
I interviewed by senior manager and they told me we will contact HR to tell you the next round and the next round is going to be with a director.
I waited 2 weeks and at the end
I contacted the HR and he told me
We will get back to you in 7-10 days
Is it a good sign or a bad sign
Thank You
Honestly I donât think either. It takes long to go through process, especially this time of year.
Mixed signals? Hiring Manager and I had a good rapport, some small talk. Offered to extend the interview for my questions. Lasted 1 hour and 20 minutes instead of 1 hour. I felt it was one of my best. I already knew next steps because HR mentioned them during the phone screen. When I asked the Hiring Manager for next steps, said HR handles all of that. Hiring Manager had been on vacation for a month, genuinely didn't know? I believe I am one of the first to interview for the role and it's available due to restructuring. Thoughts?
I had an interview yesterday. Questions seem to go smooth. They asked about attendance. I said I'm someone that's always there and if you need me for extra hrs I'm available for those as well. Attendance is never an issue. The 2nd interviewer said you 2 will get along well. They mentioned education and advancement often. One guy was walking by on the tour and interviewer also said he started where you were at went to school and got promoted to this position. Also asked whst I do on my personal time. They said they are wrapping up the interviews this week and they will reach out to me next week with hr. Good indicators?
I got the offer as of yesterday day right after interview
I am goin thru a to and fro interview from local and US as my interviewer is based in US and im from Asia. Now i have finish my US and Asia interview. Now im goin back to him to get the US interviewer to understand if i fit the job.
Not sure if its normal for US MNC to interview so many rounds especially for a senior exec role which requires interviewee based in Asia while reporting to Boss. Manufacturing related job btw.
Thank you for your videos. Lately I had three interviews with a company. Last one was with hr and she told me that dhe will give her feedback to VP and principle scientist (I interviewed with them earlier) and then they will tell you what to do next. What do you đ¤
Hard to tell from that. I would stay optimistic!
