I'm a big fan of a shoulder rig with chest support as it prevents the camera from falling forward. Because of the support, you won't need rear counterweights that just add excessive weight to your rig. I started with an old Sony Camcorder support, and added rosette handles. Much lighter than a Sony VCT and rail rig, great solution for run and gun!

This is interesting for those weird operators (I say it only as a playful tease) that don't believe in just balancing their rigs (with camera position, not weights). Though for the clear hassle of the 501 plate on the 500AH head I would definitely keep the VCT and just get a plate for the tripod head, it would be so much more convenient, quicker, and safer.

2:36 and 2:57 the ergonomics don't look good for long shoots since the shoulder pad is basically not being used (it's extended too far even when at it's shortest setting)

Hi Emm, I picked one up based on your review and mine didn’t come with that accessory plate/mount that attaches to the front of the support by two screws. Would you happen to know the screw requirements for those two small screw holes? I know it’s an obscure question. And are those two small holes the same as the two silver screw holes used for the rear accessory plate? mine also didn’t come with that either. I can make something for those areas once I figure the screw out. Thanks!

I have not measured it. But if you head to your local hardware store, they typically have a measuring tool in the screw aisle. I’ll try to check mine at some point.

no place for rods, no follow focus . :-/

If you loom at my adapter, i’m mounting a 15mm rail clamp at the front. So if you’re handy there’s no reason you can add rods and a follow focus to this if needed. But for the C200 which is often praised for it’s autofocus, I don’t use a follow focus with this camera.
