      To be fair, all these monsters only came out of a single portal which was probably quickly closed again. And at the end of the day, they are just huge animals. Bullets and fire will make quick work of them. Zombies movies like to skip the "spread" part or quickly gloss over it, and get to the part where society already collapsed. Despite the fact that the military probably would have prevented things from getting that bad to begin with.

      @Charles Lee Ray flame throwers at a range of 10-15 metres are normally at around somewhere between 900-1100°c or 1652-2012°f while 20-30 metres is about 800°c or 1472°f
      to completely vaporize a human till their bones with an open fire would take around 4-5 hours, but that to say if theres a continuous stream of it
      normally during bunker and trench raids they'd do like little one taps to conserve fuel since these things eats alot of that, the flame thrower uses about half a galon when fired for more then 1-2 seconds
      when in contact with the flames for just a few seconds the human body suffers from 3rd degree burns all around, feeling the pain for roughly 10-12 seconds until finally fainting. at this point the flames probably would have burned out, and if not treated a immediately then the person would have likely died a minute or 2 after they fainted, and yes healing and recovering from 3rd degree burns are possibly

    I believe that the Behemoth is actually used as a hive for most of the creatures seen in the film, the other creatures just use it’s body as a home for themselves, seeing that the Gray-Widowers lay eggs in living / formerly living organisms. As for the worms, they likely cling on to the ribs of the Behemoth until they are at their desired location in where prey are present.

      My theory: The Behemoth is a non-living being. It is akin to the "walkers" in Star Wars, with "people" (from the other dimension) inside. The layout of their dimension is similar to ours, so it takes them a while before they realize they aren't in Kansas anymore. I say that what they opened, was a ZOO, and, The Behemoth is The Zookeeper, complete with food and shelter for the animals.

So he got on a green sleeve and glove and did it himself! It gave it a more real look. There’s more evidence of directors or other film crew members using practical effects to give the movie a better look. Like using condoms full of blood and rupturing them above and elevator shaft to give a better look to a leg getting ripped off.

      Ehhh, Lovecraft's monsters are meant to inspire fear by giving the reader a sense of hopelessness and a feeling that they are insignificant to the larger forces at play. These creatures are just gruesome.

    • @THX11458
      @THX11458 Před 6 lety +11

      It's interesting, when script writers and movie producers use Lovecraft's general ideas from his mythos they can produce amazing classic films like The Thing, Alien, and The Mist, but when someone tries to make a direct translation of a Lovecraft story it always turns out to be a dud. Off hand I can't think of any horror/sci-fi writer whos stories are so difficult to transfer onto the big screen.

      T. Gorbach yep

    • @aickavon
      @aickavon Před 6 lety +3

      @T. Gorbach, the unfortunate difficulty of transferring a hopeless cause onto a screen and pure insanity is the sheer fact of trying to figure out some sort of medium that the audience can understand while not driving them insane. Since the main factor in a lot of Cthulhu mythos is the sheer insignificance of the protagonist and their plight as well as the sheer magnitude of what they'd have to accomplish, it's really hard to present an enthralling story onto the big screen.
      Where as in stories we can create the scenes and imagine the worst that is to come, in big screen there is no imagination, it's presented from the Director's Lense. And thus the Director has to have a REALLY good adaptation to manifest a compelling story that would not only entertain but translate the mythos properly.
      In the end, it IS theoritcally possible to do, or at least get close to... but at the same time the chances of something pulling a task so flawlessly and successfully are about the same as Valve making Half-life 3 and it meeting fan expectations instead of being a forever dissapointment

      Not necessarily. Note how the soldiers are outfitted in hazmat/biohazard tactical gear,the mist may have a deadly effect that takes time to kill the exposed victims,not to mention they military may have been rounding up the survivors to more easily mass execute them in an effort to contain any infections or transmissible contagions from contaminating everywhere else that the mist and monsters didn’t reach.
      There was no clear indication of a happy ending for anyone,even if he had waited a minute.

As far as the mist show goes I’ve said this before and I’ll say it again even though it’s long past that show should never of been made the way it was it didn’t know justice and no honor to the movie or the novella.I was seriously hoping that it would spin a bunch of seasons and it would be more of a survival type of show like The Walking Dead with an extensive ad on of creatures from the missed that you would see as the show progresses but what they did to the show it was the worst thing possible and I struggled to even sit through all the episodes but I usually finish what I start and I promise you I will never start to watch the most show again unless it’s ever made the way it should have been
