Finals Match (edited down): • [Grand Finals Bo7] ESI... Circuit Store's Video: • Softlock by Clipping a... normal video next week probably! edited by biggest bee :)
i think they've made a voice reveal in the past alr and just a couple months ago it was also heard to endorse the mcsr ranked playoffs at the end of one of their vids
I'm no expert, but considering the game has an update speed, I don't think that pearls move in continuous lines, but probably """teleport""" between positions each game tick, meaning actually lining up that shot doesn't mean it needed to be a line that passed [ through ] the softlock position on the block, but it needed to land [ exactly ] at that tiny position on that block to happen to begin with, otherwise it would simply pass behind or in front of it and then work as normal, probably making the entire thing even more stupid unlucky. I'd hazard a guess that most combinations of angles and player positions for pearl throws don't even have valid positions where such a softlock is even possible due to where the pearls end up every tick along their paths.
A throwable object like that is still an entity and moves like one, when you throw an ender pearl it spawns one with a velocity dependent on where the player aimed at with some slight variations each time.
I don't think "this bug has never naturally happened to anyone before" is true - Minecraft is one of the most popular games of all time, I'm pretty sure it has happened dozens of times worldwide.
Agree, it surely happen to some people that just relaunch the game and immediatly forget about it. Also I do not know how to justify that "1 in 2million chance from that angle"... It look like a random big number to make it seem impressive. In short, it's an interesting story, and it's true is very unlikely, but the math and science of that video seem totally random.
Definitely not the first time. I've seen it before if not had it happen. But then 1 in 2M isn't that big. For MC that means it has probably happened like 10000 times. Especially in parkour where everyone is constantly and repeatedly trying jumps you can barely make. In those cases it is probably more like 1:200k because you're trying to hit the same 1/10ish edge of the block every time.
Is this related to the bug of going like 1b blocks out from the center (modded to remove border, but probably less than 1b) can cause you to get stuck on the side of blocks on jump?
@@amruthchangappa i was just thinking that since precision loss is a thing, the extremely small area where the bug happens to the speedrunner would be amplified that far out
@@amruthchangappa farlands type bugs are caused by precision loss in floating point numbers, and so is this soft lock clipping bug. theyre not the same, but they are related. another bug caused by floating point precision loss is when boats are able to break when dropped from certain heights
Pretty sure that was a Minecraft championship mini game. I haven’t played in a while so idk if it’s actually on their public server, as the last time I played, they only a few games released, but that’s the first place I would check
I now believe in god, except not in a religious way. I just think there is some higher power that only fucks with minecraft speedrunners and nothing else.
1:29 knowing a bit about who Circuit is, I assume she did a bunch of rough calculations to get those numbers, but that doesn’t really add up. If a 1/2M pearl throw is 400K times less likely than another pearl throw, then that other pearl throw would be a 1 in 5 chance (because 2,000,000 / 400,00 = 5) if you aim in a random place, right? Am I missing something? Am I overcomplicating it?
@@flopsnail4750I’ll try and put it as simply as I can: Pearl throw X is what happened with esi. Pearl throw Y is the TAS pearl into the dragon. Circuit states that pearl throw X was a 1/2,000,000 chance. Circuit also states that pearl throw X requires 400,000x as much precision as pearl throw Y. This last statement also means that pearl throw X is 400,000x less likely than pearl throw Y. So, in short, what I meant by “another pearl throw” was the TAS pearl throw into the dragon, and that meant that the TAS pearl into the dragon was just 1/5 odds if you aimed randomly, which can’t possibly be right.
