- Six people are facing criminal charges over a football stadium crush that killed at least 131 people, Indonesia's police chief said.
They will be charged with criminal negligence causing death, which carries a maximum sentence of five years.
Those facing the charges include police officers and organisers.
The disaster happened last week after police fired tear gas at fans who invaded the pitch in Kanjuruhan stadium, Malang, after a defeat.
Hundreds tried to flee through the exits, which caused a deadly stampede.

My condolences to the families of those who died. This shouldn't have had to happen. The police there went too far, and their actions cost the lives of so many innocent people.

I have a younger brother who's still in high school. So it's very heartbreaking to see these young individuals had to suffer like that. They knew nothing about tear gas whatsoever. They were there not knowing what would happen.

Yep its both the people and the police fault. There are many incidents happened all across other countries especially this 1. This is out of control.
Perhaps the police share part of the blame, but if the fans acted like mature adults instead of tantruming toddlers, this tragedy wouldn't have occurred.

Hillsborough disaster was also caused by the police for letting the gates open for free and the crowds rushed inside.

Ehh because of the constant chaos that fans have made and forced the police to use any necessary action to protect themselves like I do think them not doing the proper way of decreasing the tension cause I don't know but you but indo football culture change the police stand for more security like them getting armored vehicles prepared says a lot as to why they had to change procedures like if they didn't neutralize it soon those fans would've hurt more themselves but it was unfortunate disaster that no one really is at fault but its culture like there were many more procedures indo league had to change from the fibe and even had to submit a heck lot of procedures from the organization cause it was too much for the league themselves to handle and just nothing but the police is the only thing that kept this league from getting obliterated by fans do think it was a bad call from police to use tear gas to descalate the situation which in turn got more panic but they were forced to protect themselves they have every right to protect themselves but it was just a bad call all because fans were to invested in there team which to me is more of the root of the problem cause its not just this particular tragedy but multiple cases that fans lost lives because of such actions so don't fault anyone but generally human behavior.

@@Master_Petes_Theater This all happened because when a single pitch invader came in, they started beating him up instead of just tackling him like normal, which made the situation go into pure chaos, and also by FIFA rules the policemen on the stadium aren’t allowed to have tear gases
