  • Catapult hunting video. We start the day by Paul from moucher outdoors showing me how to make a natural catapult from a stick.Then we go hunting for grey squirrels. Grey squirrels are a pest species in the UK because they kill song birds. We have a successful hunt the day before and cook them in a stew following a recipe we find on the internet.

    Thanks for the comments. Much appreciated. I'm going to pick someone soon to give this catty away to. I have been trying to get a kill with it but had no joy. I will get out with moucheroutdoors once more before we pick someone at random.

    People like you will ruin our sport. Learn what is legal, injuring squirrels with cattys to drop for lurchers in not legal and you shouldnt be posting this stuff. You can hear the squirrel squeeling and ya dog when its getting bit, not good headshots as you say.

    • @reynoldsoutdoors3055
      @reynoldsoutdoors3055  Před 3 lety

      Dont be silly pal. We all know that shooting can never always guarantee a clean kill and I mean ALL shooting from rifles to shotguns. But dogs will track and dispatch the wounded. You are the only person with a negative comment. People like you who hunt for sport ruin it my friend. I hunt for food and pest control.

    • @simonalderson452
      @simonalderson452 Před 3 lety

      @@reynoldsoutdoors3055 why do you take offence im not being negative just stating I believe what your video shows is illegal. Right let me explain. Since the fox hunting ban the law round hunting grey squirrels and deer were also made illegal quarry to hunt with dogs. The only legal quarry now with dogs is rats and rabbits. So you can class grey squirrels as having the same rites and protection as foxs and deer. So that being said, if I was to go out, miss on a fox but shoot in in the front leg with a. 22 long rifle and then set me lurcher on it, is that dog running in to retrieve of is it illegally caursing a fox? Im pretty sure its the latter but as I say prove me wrong. Why you edit the video I commented on to look like youd shot the squirrel dead and retrieved beuatifully by your dog if im incorrect? As we both know it didnt go down that way. I know it all sounds daft as grey squirrels are a rite pest but we still need to tred carefully as its a sensitive issue and you need to be careful. And your mate mouchers outdoor or whatever, his vids are worse 6 or seven shots I counted before he dropped a squirrel and then the squirrel was still wanting to be off. Ive shot enough squirrels with cattys to know they are extremely hard little critters and even if you are lucky and hit in clean in the head ive still watched them drop 30 feet and then just toddle off, and when left will probebly recover fine, just a sore head in the morning. Long speach I know but I wish youd think about what im saying. Hopefully someone clued up on hunting / pest control will chip in, but I fear most oeople watching your videos are either outside the UK where hunting laws are different or just people who spend to much time on a computer and rarely see daylight and dont understand what hunting in England is actually like.

    • @reynoldsoutdoors3055
      @reynoldsoutdoors3055  Před 3 lety

      @@simonalderson452 hunting a squirrel with a catty or slingshot is not illegal. So having a dog on hand to make sure any wounded animal doesn't escape and suffer is in my opinion more moral. Just like someone would use a dog to catch an injured bird on a shoot. Bad shooting because hes aiming for a head shot. Not necessarily hitting the squirrel.

    • @simonalderson452
      @simonalderson452 Před 3 lety

      @@reynoldsoutdoors3055 I never said it was illegal to kill a squirrel with a slingshot. But injuring it enough to drop it from a tree to waiting lurchers is different. And as for shooting game birds for gundogs to retrieve thats a slightly different matter, as those dogs will carry those birds back live for a humane dispatch, not many people using lurchers on the shoot neither.

    • @simonalderson452
      @simonalderson452 Před 3 lety

      Im not explaining my point very well but Il keep going till I get it rite. Most of the squirrels you are dropping for the dogs would recover if left alone. That first video I commented on that you edited after I commemted was a pefect example. Your mate hits the squirrel, squirrel drops only to run along a fence post where it tries to get away but your dogs hunted it up, wragged it about then ran off with the squirrel, far from a retrieve. People in shoots use gundogs to bring back the injured that wont survive as theyve been pricked and gundogs will bring them back live but its a diffent matter anyways as dogs can be used to hunt up game birds but not squirrels. Im pretty sure im correct here but if you can argue your case i will listen.
