Completely agree with you on all these points. It's definitely a mix of feeling happy they are doing well but also concerned about what it means for the quality of bags being put out.
Thanks for sharing Millie! I know you have a big Coach collection 😁 I'm glad to get some insights from someone that has invested quite a bit in the brand. I hope they won't end up disappointing in the long run.
Great video! Earlier this year, I fell down the pre-loved rabbit hole and ended up purchasing a number of gorgeous leather handbags. Many of the bags I bought were originally from Coach boutique (retail) dated 2007 through to 2012. As I write this, I have many, many Coach bags from 2022 and 2023, and although these bags are all beautiful, the quality of the leather is nowhere near the quality of my older Coach bags! The leather from that time was much more thick and robust! Not to mention, the coatings are far less, allowing the natural leather to shine through! I have now decided that going forward, the leather bags I buy will be minimally finished full grain or vachetta leather for a reasonable price. This means no more big-name commercial brands for me because the prices are just becoming way too expensive for what's being offered. I live in Canada, and we have plenty of choices for great quality leather from lesser known companies at decent prices. I have given Coach enough of my money, and it is definitely time for me to stop. ✌🏾
Thanks for sharing your experience! Bags with minimal finish last the longest and are beautiful just the same, I totally understand you’re making a switch for your future purchases. 🥰
I agree with you about the more popular they have become to produce more and faster. So I wonder if the quality will go down as well. I really hope not it’s my favorite brand. Great video Lo! 👍🏻
Great video, TFS! I agree with the price increases/demand/hype I am definitely worried about the recent quality inconsistencies - I hope they stay on top of this going forward 😢
It is so true about how currently coach is kind of doing a Chanel, Pushing out lots of product with inconsistent quality.😢 Hopefully they up the game again soon.😅
@@loyayyay Chanel is trying pulling an Hermés though, but their heritage is quite different. Hermés has prestige because they did it right since the beginning (well, at least from the 70s 80s). Chanel first wants to do a mass market and now wants to claim exclusivity. Who buys into that (with their non quality?)
@@linabelmonte5154 With Chanel I still doubt if their tactics have been very smart or very dumb. Their revenue is still growing, so seemingly people are still buying into it, while they probably made some good money during the pandemic doing mass-market. I haven’t seen any Chanel unboxings in my feed recently, so also have no idea how they’re doing quality-wise at the moment. 😅
Coach's prices have definitely skyrocketed. If there is anything I really like, I wait for deep sales like Black Friday/Christmas/New Year. They tend to bring back older styles for these sales too. There is no way I'm paying the dizzying full prices! I wonder if they are trying to "climb" ever since Tapestry (Coach, Kate Spade) bought Capri Holdings (Michael Kors, Versace).
I also really don’t want to get Coach with less than 50% discount, but it’s hard to wait with the denim collection, because I want to use it in summer and I’m inpatient. 🥲 It’s an interesting theory, perhaps they’re indeed trying to be best in class in their group.
I liked seeing your Coach collection. There’s something about a quilted bag that draws my attention to it. As for your signature print shoulder bag, what do you feel is off when you try to pair it with your outfit? Is it the pattern, color, or style? I agree there is a risk with extreme popularity and production issues. Also, as you’ve mentioned prices as they are already pretty high from what I am used to for Coach. You are seeing them do more collaborations and brand marketing with celebrities now too. Their new marketing and collaboration strategies could be the culprit for the increased prices but compared to a similarly priced brand like Tory Burch, they aren’t doing the same thing. All that to say maybe the increased prices aren’t necessarily caused by the partnerships and “Coach is relatable” type of marketing but due to popularity. It may be a combination of both. Great video.
Thanks for watching and sharing your thoughts! 🥰 With regards to the Coach Dalton bag, I think I mostly struggle with the color. The leather color is very warm and rich, the canvas is quite cool and falls relatively flat. I like the contrast on the bag itself, but pairing it is difficult. Only outfit I can think of is black pants and dark-wash denim jacket (or vice verse), but that goes with almost anything anyway. 😂 I never get dressed and feel like this bag is a perfect match for the outfit.
Hi Lo, I really liked hearing your perspective about Coach. I also really loved seeing your collection of bags too, you chose some really stunning colours for your bags 😊 I hope that Coach doesn’t lose their quality as I know that’s a large reason as to why people love them. Nevertheless, Coach has me impressed still I’m just debating what variation of the tabby I’d like to get lol Thanks for sharing!
TFW! I think the quilted Tabby in a light color would look great on you 😁 you might consider giving Coach a bit more priority before prices go up further.
I love coach bags in the glovetanned leather especially their vintage bags I do agree that coach has gained immense popularity lately and I’m hoping their quality will stay the same and not decline like other brands
If coach was sold at walmart, would you see it as a luxury item? Of course not. So, yes, pushing out too many items in the affordable range hurts the brand if Luxury is your game. I have an older classic shoulder coach bag I love. I'm keeping it regardless.
I think Walmart actually sells (pre-loved) Chanel nowadays 🤣 but I get your point. You can also define luxury by price-point and availability and then Coach is still very far from being a luxury brand.
Hi 👋 Lo your so strong, I don’t mind duplicates in my collection if i really like the style. I do like your take on is it Luxury question 🙋♀️. You have my Cassie color it’s beautiful, TFS 👛🛍️🚢🙏🦆
compare to all those lux brands like Chanel, LV, Coach s price increase is nothing. Here in Canada, our grocery bills have skyrocketed. Only Coach is not increasing price on the Cassie 19.😂😂😂
TFS! And hi from New Zealand. Retail Coach is way too expensive for me unfortunately…so I only buy preloved. Found a lovely preloved Cassie 19 in chalk but sadly not for me and am selling it - personally, the quality compared to Vintage Coach just doesn’t compare. I own 15 Vintage Coach and the leather is DEVINE, but these are also hard to find here. The most recent Coach bags I own are from 2007, 65th Anniversary vachetta leather 💛🇳🇿
I had not followed up with Coach’s prices until recently, and only then did I realise that it’s gone up so much. Disappointed to see that your bags weren’t perfect. Didn’t Tannerstein say that they’re good? Or not? I sure hope they’ll keep themselves in check in terms of pricing and quality, instead of resting on their laurels just because they are super popular right now.
Tanner has always been quite positive about Coach, but he’s always been about Polène too, I’m not sure if he reviewed anything recently. In any case, quality seemingly isn’t getting better, so can only hope they’ll put a halt to the price increases.
Yup coach is increasing their prices and playing games (pushing people to buy full price). It puts a bad taste in my mouth really reminding me of michael kors before the downfall. Coach really needs to look in the mirror hard this year and next. Why? Because they are acting like a true scammy luxury brand (ie Chanel). Also coach fans need to calm down, in youtube world at least; they are sounding like a cult (i see you portland leather goods). People need to stop with overpraising coach as “luxury” brand, they are not. All these praises made coach’s head bigger and increases its price and acting “funny”.
I think that we as bag lovers can get quite committed to brands and when these brands get wider popularity it can lead to a lot of excitement, like your finally get recognition for this brand you've loved since forever. But things can indeed turn sour pretty quickly and even lead to downfall when brands lose their loyal buyers and aren't popular in the long run. 🤔 Thanks for sharing your thoughts!
Lo you are correct about the quality decreasing with popularity. When I see older coach retail bags, it honestly makes me wonder at times.
Yeah, I feel the vintage Coach bags are indestructible, some of the newer ones barely pass quality control.
Completely agree with you on all these points. It's definitely a mix of feeling happy they are doing well but also concerned about what it means for the quality of bags being put out.

The price of Coach is getting out of hard. Beautiful Cassie the color is so pretty.
I’ve been disappointed that their denim collection is the same price as their leather pieces! Hope they’ll go on sale before they sell out. 😅

Well, Coach isn't exactly known for its branding. Now that the quality is poor too, they're definitely become a Chanel.
I guess we can't really blame any brand for wanting to be like Chanel 🤣 but it's unfortunate for us, especially when quality goes down!
