Fun fact when Monty Oum (the series creator) was needing to design the map of Remnant he was at an IHOP and poured some Ketchup in a napkin and mushed it together and that was his visual inspiration for Remnant

Yea world of Remnant is good for filling in the blanks, and I'd almost say its essential if you plan on getting fully into the series. I also love the art style they use.
World of Remnant 5-8 should be watched during(not before or after)vol 3. Some of them have minor spoilers for the volume and some have context for the chapter after the episode.
Fun Fact: the map of remnant was made from a ketchup stain from Monty napkin. He and his team spent a lot of time at IHop planning the series and cause Monty loved the food

World of Remnant is mostly teaching you what is common knowledge for the setting, things do well known that even Jaune knows them so he can't be used as proxy for the viewers to have things explained(a useful role for storytelling, if you don't have a character as ignorant as the viewers explaining how the world works just doesn't make sense to do so most of the time.); or more details then it makes sense to explain to Jaune in the show.
- The basic elements of Dust shown are fire, water, earth, and wind. There are other advanced elements, like ice, lightning, steam, gravity, and hard-light.
- Remember the Grimms' attraction to negative emotions. Was it really the sap on Cardin's armor that attracted that one Ursa...or was it his frustration with Jaune?
I'm glad you guys are starting to react to "RWBY: World of Remnants" videos. These are very important to help you understand and give you knowledge of what's this world is and giving you answers that you might have questions on. There's more of these videos but the community will tell you when to watch them throughout episodes to help you understand them.

Kudos to Jen Taylor on the VA work on these!! You also heard her at the start of chapter one. A fine veteran VA. It's important to note that many of the voices of RWBY you've heard so far have little to no VA experience!!! So, this was on the job training for some. LOL 😅👍🌹
Indeed, one can clearly see how the writers drew inspiration from anime and video games in the design of the setting
World of Remnant is great. I kinda view it as what Ruby would have been taught at Signal before she graduated early to Beacon academy. Simple lessons every Huntress and Huntsman would have memorized. (And sure, she skipped classes by skipping grades, but with Huntsmen and Huntresses bringing her up I'm sure she got all the lessons as bedtime stories)
Really excited for you guys to see this show. I grew up with it as a kid and it was great. Also you guys are gonna love Destiny 2.

Strangely, what I thought of when I saw the map of the four kingdoms was Avatar the Last Airbender, but I definitely agree with your suppositions on the World of Remnant. In full disclosure, I'm actually watching RWBY for the first time with you, and I'm looking forward to the next season!

Do yourself a favor and try to avoid comment sections. The RWBY fandom is bad with not giving spoilers. Specifically subtle spoilers. They love dropping obnoxious comments like "I can't wait til you reach episode so and so, you'll cry!" or "wait til later, you'll be surprised!"
Yup, as onemuststand said, try to avoid the comment section, thumbnails, and the RWBY store. All, unfortunately, have spoilers.

But I've been spoiled on thumbnails (and I watched it when it first came out... FIRST members can't help themselves...).
And the RWBY/RoosterTeeth store spoiled another reactor, so... be careful.

Oh man I had forgotten just how much foreshadowing was in those. Woooow.
monty was heavily inspired by games like final fantasy 7. even dust as being used as a subsitute for magic is like the materia in FF7

There's a couple of things that weren't touched on in some of the videos such as the fact that rarely if any at all inject raw dust into their body's due to the fact that it's extremely painful which is not unexpected since you have the raw power of the elements themselves coursing through you, those rare few who have managed to survive injecting dust into them ether have an extreme pain tolerance or a semblance that works well with it,
and another is that aura not only acts as a personal barrier and fuel for semblances, but it also enhances the body's natural albitites such as Strength, Speed, Reflexes, Endurance, Senses, as well accelerated Healing to minor wounds as you saw in the show when Jaunes aura was unlocked and though this will be touched on in a later Volume, but aura can also protect you from the harsh Climates as well such as the intense heat from the scorching dessert to the freezing cold of the frozen tundra,
good reactions as always guys can't wait for you to watch Volume 2 that's when the story starts to climb, also just to let you know I would recommend that you watch the World of Remnant videos for Vol 3 after you watch the volume itself since the last episode has a big spoiler for the show that changes everything but other than that take care and I'll see you guys in the first chapter for Volume 2.
They are in their own modern time. While satellites aren’t a thing, they have other resources that are equivalent or better than ours.

Two things: the world map was designed from a ketchup stain on a napkin.
More relative to the story, Semblance (each individual’s special ability) is fueled by their Aura and use of it will drain its energy as well as taking damage. Obviously this means if the individual’s Aura reserve is completely exhausted from damage or overuse, they won’t be able to use their Semblance to protect themselves either.

I was somewhat worried, as _I'd_ gotten into RWBY for no other reason than, Poser & Bryce were how I got my start as a 3D artist- and hearing an ENTIRE SHOW was rendered with Poser.. I _had_ to see it. But I know how offputtingly _quirky_ this show can be, going in. But I'm glad to see you guys enjoying it for what it is, despite the 'anime tropes from guys who dunno where anime tropes came from' gags.
...But I really don't know what I was expecting. _Of course_ people would still like a show with a quirky awkward goth girl as the MC.
You should react to the *"SLVR"* series of videos. They are probably the best-made, highest-level of production, fan-vids for RWBY. They are done in the style of the original Trailers.
Fun fact: The map of Remnant came about from a coffee stain. One of the songs I think in V3 references this

The world of remnant has the same narrator as the very first episode of Volume 1, this voice might be worth remembering in the future.
The further you go into the series the scarier Grimm you'll see. The team starts taking a couple ideas from either I want to say Celtics mythology, could be wrong, as well as the primal fear of most kids that grew up playing Ocarina of Time and were scarred for life when fun action adventure turned into nightmare horror show at the midway point.
Considering the crew and Monty himself intended the series to be one that grew and became more mature along with its audience as it went along, dont be surprised when the shift into harsh reality starts getting clearer and the fun cringe days of kids in high-school seems like a pleasant dream.
Glad you enjoyed World of Remnant that gives us some good lore to the franchise. Now, the scariest thing about the Grimm is that nobody still knows where they exactly came from nor how they exactly came to be into Remnant.... it's almost like as if they just.... are. And what's more is that the mention that new types of Grimm that are discovered being more horrific means some are likely less animal looking and perhaps more.... monstrous.
Hope you enjoy volume 2 because this is where things are gonna get more tense and crazy since it seems the villains are about to make their move.
the origin of grimm is explaned in volume 4 and again in volume 6 ep 3 so 'nobody knows' isn't really accurate

Hope you enjoy Volume 2. The first episode is an eternal favorite of mine, because I always turn to it when I need a perk after a rough day. You’ll see why.
Other side videos I'd recommend from RWBY is RWBY Chibi but you're going to want to wait until volume 3 for that one. Not because of spoilers but because Chibi provides some much needed therapy after volume 3. Trust me, you're going to need that. There's also RWBY fairy tales, those don't spoil anything except for The Girl in the Tower. You can not watch that one until volume 6 episode 2 or 3. Some people might say 3 to be on the safe side. But I'd recommend 2 for continuity's sake.
RWBY Chibi is honestly not good and it's pointless.
God damn, the RWBY community just can't help but CONSTANTLY drop subtle not-so-subtle spoilers. "Therapy" and "you're going to need that" is such an annoying subtle spoiler that you people just loooove to give. For the love of this couple's viewing experience, please delete your comment or at least take those parts out. Stop making first-time viewers directly anticipate things like that.

The original videos didn't have that thumbnail. When RT reuploaded them in a compressed set (which happened a long time after their first release) they gave the video that thumbnail which they probably didn't think through.

There is one thing that dust and aura videos never explain that confused people in the early episodes. mainly on dust side.
So Glinda's semblance is telekenises and Weiss's is her glyphs that have certain effects mostly used as platforms or to push.
So when they use dust they actually mixing it with their semblences. Dust is activated with Aura and Semblence are a different form of aura. So thats how they are able to manipulte dust and make look more flashy and magical compared to other people use of it
