Him turning away helps since the bending pressure went towards more on the shoulder than the elbow.

I think I would prefer 10min rounds. 8min seems short. But oh well, other than that, the format is really fun to watch.
Owen Livesey have competed in amateur wrestling, judo, bjj, and catch wrestling ( snake pit wigan).
Jrod's technique has improved so much. You see it in little pieces on the b-team yt channel, but it really showed here. The way he maintains control, pressure, then mounts. He seemed to have more success when he sought after position first, before submission.

Owen playing entirely defensively and not getting a single stalling call vs Nicky Rod when they stalled and reset Rida earlier while he was in full mount actively hunting a sub is top tier comedy ref work.

I feel in his match against Owen, Nicky pulled guard more times than in all his previous matches combined. Really says a lot about both guys: Owens has great takedowns and get ups and Nicky is continuing to improve different aspects of his game.
kind of feels like a small moral victory for Owen though
He sat down but didn't really pull guard. Just used it to avoid upper body ties and foot sweeps so he could try shooting for the legs. Right after that foot sweep off the bat, he started sitting down. Good strategy and it payed off for him.

Owen just avoided engaging and Nicky pulled guard so he would stop running. Owen was trying his hand at the schaub shutdown.
Feels more like he just realized Owen is literally only a judo guy and was going to run from the jits the whole time, and used guard to try and draw him in.

Such an interesting rule that the judges would base their entire decision upon the last match. Apart from the early armbar attempt against J.Rod, I think B-Team was far more dominant across all the matches. I'm glad they walked away with the W, they were in control far more than Polaris.
Craig smoked Gregor, B team looking A+ and I also like that the only advice given from the captain was an offensive joke but in respect B team were silent when Craig rolled, no one can tell Craig what to do but he still has a good sense of humour

Ya, that was confusing.
The problem was the left arm, Nicky was trying to get a deep grip under the back on the reset, which he didn't have at all before.
The exact moment of the break his hands were not connected, I’m not sure of the rules here

Usually its just 1v1s so the team layout makes it a lot more entertaining

Pretty funny seeing Owen defend this performance online saying he did more under xyz rules and Nickys not that good while also admitting his goal was to "Get Nicky Off" and not to try win....
You know because Nicky isn't good.... So hes not a threat ..... So we dedicated a guy to draw with him..... Great sportsmanship and input into the sport mate.

Best format for bjj!! other events, despite the big names, are often boring, this is much more dynamic and entertaining, I can watch without getting to sleep 😂
