If I've pushed you outside of your comfort zone, I'm happy! That is where real learning happens! If Australian Slang is not essential knowledge for you (as in, you don't live in Australia or talk to Australians often) then it's good to know this slang exists (so you can ask about it when you encounter it) but you don't need to study/remember/use it yourself! Prioritise the English words and phrases that are relevant to you ❤️

Australian slang is quite regional. For example, South Australia and Queensland have different accents and different idioms. Some words such as servo, arvo, brekkie, maccas, and barbie are pretty universal. But 'get your laughing gear around this?" - strange indeed to me (I'm from Adelaide) and we don't day 'sanga' either. "fair suck of the sauce bottle" caused derision of a former Prime Minister who, from Queensland, tried out this expression on national TV. Slang moves with the times and some dates very quickly - dunny, for example.
